Technology of assessment centers has been showing a good performance as a method of recruitment since the early stages of implementation in large foreign companies. However in Russian experience of recruitment traditional methods still prevail. Assessment-center is a time-consuming and therefore quite expensive method, which is an obstacle for being carried out by domestic organizations. This article proposes an alternative to carrying out technology of assessment-center – an express-assessment-center. Unlike the traditional assessment-center, the express method allows assessing candidates within a few hours without reducing the quality of an original method. The paper describes the order of carrying out the express-assessment-center, proposes competency profi les and methods of assessing its demonstration as exemplifi ed in company’s line manager position, provides examples of simulation exercise to discover announced competencies.

This chapter addresses and defends a growing trend in the application of Assessment Centers as a management development strategy for adult learning and describes how innovations in technology can elevate a traditional assessment center design to allow for a comprehensive blended learning approach that supports multiple styles of learning and learners. Drawing on best practices, the chapter offers a guideline for designing and implementing an assessment center. The chapter also examines innovations in technology-enhanced assessment centers (TEACs) as a way to add to the fidelity and impact of an assessment center experience. The chapter includes client case studies and directions for practice and research.

The most recent assessment centre guidelines emphasize that exercises should be designed to evoke a substantial amount of relevant behaviour (International Task Force on Assessment Center Guidelines, 2009). However, no empirical evidence exists of how one can manage this. This study aims to fill this gap by suggesting that role-player training should be extended via the use of 'prompts' to evoke behaviour. Prompts are standardized cues that a role-player consistently mentions in an AC exercise across candidates to elicit behaviours related to specific job-related dimensions. In the present study, role players and candidates were randomly assigned to two experimental conditions. In the first condition, the role players (N = 9) received no prompt training (117 candidates). In the second condition, the role players (N = 10) received a training with prompts (116 candidates). Results reveal that role-players are able to use prompts after attending training with prompts. When role-players use prompts, candidates also have favourable perceptions of the job-relatedness, two-way communication, and warmth of the assessment centre exercises. In addition, however, the inter-rater reliability of assessors was not positively affected by the use of prompts. A possible explanation is that assessors did not acknowledge that prompts had been used.

Neural image analysis is commonly used to solve scientific problems of biosystems and mechanical engineering. The method has been applied, for example, to assess the quality of foodstuffs such as fruit and vegetables, cereal grains, and meat. The method can also be used to analyse composting processes. The scientific problem lets us formulate the research hypothesis: it is possible to identify representative traits of the image of composted material that are necessary to create a neural model supporting the process of assessment of the content of dry matter and dry organic matter in composted material. The effect of the research is the identification of selected features of the composted material and the methods of neural image analysis resulted in a new original method enabling effective assessment of the content of dry matter and dry organic matter. The content of dry matter and dry organic matter can be analysed by means of parameters specifying the colour of compost. The best developed neural models for the assessment of the content of dry matter and dry organic matter in compost are: in visible light RBF 19:19-2-1:1 (test error 0.0922) and MLP 14:14-14-11-1:1 (test error 0.1722), in mixed light RBF 30:30-8-1:1 (test error 0.0764) and MLP 7:7-9-7-1:1 (test error 0.1795). The neural models generated for the compost images taken in mixed light had better qualitative characteristics.

Объектом исследования является опытный образец запатентованной канатностержневой муфты (КСМ) «MAMSAR+А» в качестве привода дизель-генераторного агрегата ДГА-8,83 мощностью 9,56 кВт при частоте вращения 1500 мин-1 с дизелем 2Ч 8,5/11 и генератором «ГК-5,6». Целью исследования является экспериментальная оценка коэффициента эффективности вибрационной защиты КСМ. Поставленная цель достигается разработкой и реализацией оригинальной методики экспериментальной оценки коэффициента эффективности КСМ с анализом и выводами результатов экспериментальных исследований. Экспериментальные исследования проводятся в два этапа. Первый этап – с упругим соединением КСМ, второй этап – с жестким соединением. Оригинальность методики экспериментальной оценки коэффициента эффективности вибрационной защиты КСМ главным образом заключается в том, что между двумя этапами экспериментальных исследований КСМ не демонтируется. Следовательно, качество центровки не нарушается. Усредненный коэффициент эффективности виброизоляции КСМ составляет от 3 до 8 дБ. The object of this research is a prototype of the patented wire rope coupling (KSM) "MAMSAR+A" as a drive for a diesel-generator unit DGA-8.83 with a power of 9.56 kW at a speed of 1500 min-1 with a 2CH 8.5/11 diesel engine and a generator "KG-5.6". The aim of the research is to experimentally evaluate the efficiency coefficient of vibration protection of the KSM. This goal is achieved by developing and implementing an original method for experimental evaluation the efficiency coefficient of the KSM with analysis and conclusions of the results of experimental studies. Experimental studies are conducted in two stages. The first stage - with an elastic connection of the coupling, the second stage - with a rigid connection. The originality of the method of experimental evaluation of the efficiency coefficient of vibration protection of the KSM mainly lies in the fact that the KSM is not dismantled between the two stages of experimental research. Therefore, the quality of alignment is not violated. The average coefficient of vibration isolation efficiency of the KSM is from 3 to 8 dB.

Dependence and disability are almost inevitable consequences of population aging. As these conditions are considered irreversible, a growing interest has been directed towards the identification of related conditions that are still amenable to preventive interventions. In this context, frailty has attracted an increasing scientific interest. Frailty is characterized by decreased homeostatic reserves and diminished resistance to stressors. The frail elderly constitutes a complex population in terms of assessment, monitoring, adherence to recommendations, and follow-up. The use of novel technologies may be considerably helpful for both clinical and research purposes. In particular, technologies may support interventions preventing disability, improving the quality of life, and enhancing the wellbeing of frail people. Traditional assessment instruments can be complemented or replaced by mobile devices measuring and monitoring frailty domains (e.g., physical performance, cognitive function, physical activity, nutritional status). Novel technologies have indeed the potential to benefit, assess, monitor, and support frail older people to live independently and improve their quality of life

This chapter presents a multi-modal method for the assessment of highway performance. It is derived by extending a traditional assessment concept step by step taking into account the capacity and quality of different modes on the road as well as in the corridor. It defines an appropriate performance target and explains why a multi-modal concept has to consider transport demand in persons and goods rather than traffic volumes in vehicle units. It is shown that the concept allows for different options and measures to improve traffic quality and so supports the efficient use of existing infrastructure and the effective allocation of limited funds.
