The article deals with the problem of comparative study of Russian and Chinese proverbs. The paper is an analysis of some nouns of persons through relationship and Proverbs with nouns and conceptually important for Russian and Chinese philology and culture. The work is done at the interface between Linguistics and culture experts and is aimed at identifying national cultural specifics of Russian and Chinese Proverbs with the names of persons on the basis of kinship. It is in the axiological notions of gender, kinship and family in Russian and Chinese cultures reflected in paremias that the national specifics is detected. The article gives logical and thematic classification of the collected material, which includes the following semantic groups: characterization of the role of a family member, their emotionally estimated characteristics, relationships between family members.

In northern Ghana, families traditionally function as the main provider of care. The role of family, however, is becoming increasingly challenged with the social shifts in Ghanaian culture moving from extended kinship to nuclear households. This has implications for the care of women post obstetric fistula (OF) repair and their family members who assist them to integrate back into their lives prior to developing the condition. This research is part of a larger critical ethnographic study which explores a culture of reintegration. For this article, we draw attention to the findings related to the experience of family caregivers who care for women post OF repair in northern Ghana. It is suggested that although family caregivers are pleased to have their family member return home, there are many unanticipated physical, emotional, and economic challenges. Findings lead to recommendations for enhancing the reintegration process and the need for adequate caregiving support.

The paper briefly surveys topics covered by the IAWQ Specialist Group on Activated Sludge Population Dynamics. The activated sludge population dynamics has been formulated as a branch of water science and technology concerned with phenomena governing the relationships between activated sludge microorganisms and their functions. The characterization of organic pollution fractions in wastewaters according to their rate of biodegradation has been discussed and the role of wastewater as an inoculum stressed. The characterization of activated sludge biomass has been evaluated from two viewpoints: grouping according to metabolic abilities and identification and classification of activated sludge microorganisms. The basic selection mechanisms influencing the microbial composition of activated sludge have been described. The problems with activated sludge settling and thickening properties have been mentioned as a typical example of applied population dynamics research.

The smartphone has become an integral part of the education landscape. While there has been significant smartphone research in education under the guise of m-learning, the unique role of the device suggests that m-learning may not be an appropriate characterization. The purpose of this paper is to review the use of m-learning as a primary descriptor for smartphone- and learning-related research. In support of this goal, the paper reviews the definitions associated with m-learning, smartphones, and related technologies from the perspective of educational research. In addition, a review of author keywords of research on smartphones in education is used to provide context to the classification of the research. Finally, three theoretically guided smartphone programs are presented as evidence of the unique nature of smartphone and learning research. This review concludes with recommendations for the characterization of future research.

This case study illustrates how family members can assist in the care of teenagers with diabetes but that there are also serious risks actualized by such involvement. In particular, it highlights ethical complications that arise when the role of a family member is changed from ‘parent’ to ‘care provider’. The ‘counseling, self-care, adherence’ (CSA) approach offers a look at the role that family can play to improve these types of care.

The question of whether virtual quantum particles exist is considered here in light of previous critical analysis and under the assumption that there are particles in the world as described by quantum field theory. The relationship of the classification of particles to quantum-field-theoretic calculations and the diagrammatic aids that are often used in them is clarified. It is pointed out that the distinction between virtual particles and others and, therefore, judgments regarding their reality have been made on basis of these methods rather than on their physical characteristics. As such, it has obscured the question of their existence. It is here argued that the most influential arguments against the existence of virtual particles but not other particles fail because they either are arguments against the existence of particles in general rather than virtual particles per se, or are dependent on the imposition of classical intuitions on quantum systems, or are simply beside the point. Several reasons are then provided for considering virtual particles real, such as their descriptive, explanatory, and predictive value, and a clearer characterization of virtuality—one in terms of intermediate states—that also applies beyond perturbation theory is provided. It is also pointed out that in the role of force mediators, they serve to preclude action-at-a-distance between interacting particles. For these reasons, it is concluded that virtual particles are as real as other quantum particles.

Latar belakang: Penyakit Filariasis merupakan penyakit yang disebabkan oleh cacing filaria. Kota Pekalonganmerupakan kota dengan endemis filariasis dan telah dilakukan Program Pemberian Obat secara Massal (POPM) sejak tahun 2011 hingga 2015, Namun, hasil Survei Darah Jari (SDJ) menunjukkan nilai Mikrofilaria Rate di Kota  Pekalongan  masih  >  1%.  Penelitian  ini  bertujuan  untuk  menggambarkan  peran  Tenaga  Pelaksana Eliminasi (TPE) filariasis dan hambatan yang ditemui pada pelaksanaan POPM di Kota Pekalongan.Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian cross sectiona. Jumlah sampel 95 orang petugas TPE dengan menggunakan simple ramdom sampling. Pengumpulan data dengan wawancara menggunakan kuesioner.  Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa EP dalam memilih anggota keluarga target yang akan dirawat adalah optimal (63,2%). EP dalam membantu puskesmas menentukan dosis dan pemberian obat-obatan untuk masing-masing keluarga yang dibantu (52,6%). EP dalam merekam keluarga yang dibantu yang minum obat pada kartu sudah optimal (55,8%). EP dalam memantau dan mencatat reaksi perawatan yang mungkin timbul dan melaporkan kepada petugas kesehatan adalah optimal (61,1%).Simpulan: Peran tenaga pelaksana eliminasi TPE di Kota Pekalongan dalam menyeleksi anggota keluarga binaan yang akan diobati, dalam membantu puskesmas menentukan dosis dan pemberian obat pada setiap keluarga binaan, dalam pencatatan keluarga binaan yang meminum obat pada kartu, dan dalam pengawasan dan pencatatan reaksi pengobatan yang mungkin timbul serta pelaporan kepada petugas kesehatan sudah optimalKata kunci: Filariasis, Tenaga Pelaksana EliminasiABSTRACT Title: The role of Elimination Personnel (EP) implementing filariasis MDA in Pekalongan City Background: Filariasis is a disease caused by filarial worms, Pekalongan City has carried out filariasis MDA (Mass Drug Administration) since 2011-2015. However, the results of the Finger Blood Survey (SDJ) showed that the microfilaria rate was > 1%. This study aims to describe the role of Elimination Personnel (EP) and the obstacles faced in implementing filariasis MDA in Pekalongan City.Method: This study used a cross sectional research method. Sampling in this study used simple random side, total 95 respondents. Data obtained by structure interviews using questionnaires.Result: The results showed that EP in selecting the target family members to be treated is optimal (63.2%). EP in helping puskesmas determine the dosage and administration of medicines for each of the assisted families (52.6%). EP in recording the assisted families who drank the medicine on the card was optimal (55.8%). EP in monitoring and recording treatment reactions that may arise and reporting to health workers was optimal (61.1%).Conclusion: The roles of TPE elimination workers of Pekalongan City were optimum, such as selecting family member who will be treated, helping Puskesmas in deciding the dosage and giving the medicine to every treated family, record of treated family who take the medicine in the given card, and in the supervision and record of medical reaction that might happen and reporting it to health workers.Keywords: Filariasis, Elimination Personnel

Real-world histology tissue textures owing to non-homogeneous nature and unorganized spatial intensity variations are complex to analyze and classify. The major challenge in solving pathological problems is inherent complexity due to high intra-class variability and low inter-class variation in texture of histology samples. The development of computational methods to assists pathologists in characterization of these tissue samples would have great diagnostic and prognostic value. In this chapter, an optimized texture-based evolutionary framework is proposed to provide assistance to pathologists for classification of benign and pre-malignant tumors. The proposed framework investigates the imperative role of RGB color channels for discrimination of cancer grades or subtypes, explores higher-order statistical features at image-level, and implements an evolution-based optimization scheme for feature selection and classification. The highest classification accuracy of 99.06% is achieved on meningioma dataset and 90% on breast cancer dataset through Quadratic SVM classifier.

This qualitative preliminary study highlights a common linguistic practice of politeness in the Javanese family circle called mbasaaké, which refers to addressing or referring to a family member with a kinship term that does not necessarily portray the actual family relationship. This study aims to demonstrate that this pragmatic practice of mbasaaké requires the role of adult speakers in the family circle to novice members of the family. The adult members in the family intentionally deployed this act as a strategy to socialize politeness in the Javanese culture. A small number of naturally occurring interactive turns which involves four family members are presented in this paper to illustrate this mbasakaké practice. The four persons who participated in the casual conversations originally come from East Java, but they have resided in Yogyakarta for many years. The data presented in this paper prove that this linguistic socialization is continuously practiced within the family circle with or without the presence of the novice members of the family. Another important finding is that a respectful kinship term is also given to a family member in absentia.

AbstractIndividual differences in brain organization exist at many spatial and temporal scales, contributing to the substantial heterogeneity underlying human thought and behavior. Oscillatory neural activity is crucial for these behaviors, but how such rhythms are expressed across the cortex within and across individuals has not been thoroughly characterized. Combining electroencephalography (EEG) with representational similarity and multivariate classification techniques, we provide a systematic characterization of brain-wide activity across frequency bands and oscillatory features during rest and task performance. Results indicate that oscillatory profiles exhibit sizable group-level correspondences, indicating the presence of common templates of oscillatory organization. At the same time, we observed well-defined subject-specific network profiles that were discernible above and beyond the structure shared across individuals. These individualized patterns were sufficiently stable over time to allow successful classification of individuals several months later. Finally, our findings indicate that the network structure of rhythmic activity varies considerably across distinct oscillatory frequencies and features, suggesting the existence of multiple, parallel information processing streams embedded in distributed electrophysiological activity. Together, these findings affirm the richness of spatiotemporal EEG signals and emphasize the utility of multivariate network analyses for understanding the role of brain oscillations in physiology and behavior.
