The purpose of the work was the study of error appearance in cylindrical surfaces at prototyping. To achieve the purposed specified there were developed sketches of parts of “cylinder” type. On the basis of the sketches there were created 3D computer models in the CAD medium. Cylinder growth took place at an angle of 90° to a basic surface of a working platform with a pitch of a platform z=50 mkm at the thickness of a layer hc=0.005 mkm. Among basic requirements made for cylinders under investigations consist in circularity and cylindrical shape and also surface layer quality according to an arithmetic mean of Ra. Parts were typed according to the technology of quick prototyping (Rapid Prototyping - RP) – Direct Light Projection – DLP of hightemperature resin. To obtain data calculated there was used a simulator of A.I. Grabchenko which underwent some changes and was used for the technology of DLP rapid prototyping. For more accurate and deep investigations a coordinate measuring Metris LKV machine for the elevation of a surface layer quality was used. It is evident from the results presented that at empirical investigations of a cylindrical surface grown according to the technology of DLP rapid prototyping and at the computation of shaping error the results convergence makes 96.6.3%.

The problems of analyzing metallographic images and the method of their solution using modern software for the analysis of metallographic images are described. There is given an analysis of microstructure images as the main indicator of the surface layer quality by the example of studying the research results of strain wave hardening combinations and chemical-thermal treatment, in particular the influence of previous strain wave hardening and subsequent thermal and chemical- thermal treatment on the alloy steel microstructure or previous thermal and chemical- thermal treatment and subsequent strain wave hardening. On the basis of the analysis the effectiveness of strain wave hardening and chemical and thermal treatment is established.

Methods and experimental findings shown describe how mechanical parameters of the surface layer behavior and acoustic emission signals are interconnected.Experimental study was carried out under conditions of simple single-and dual stage compression. Graphic and analytic dependencies between the counting rate of the acoustic emission Ṅ and the shear deformation degree Λ were revealed. The findings describing dual compression show that the acoustic emission method is sensitive to the material stressing history. The dependency of the acoustic emission signal energy on the pre-stressing program was found, which helped establish that, with values of the plasticity reserve depletion being equal for all experimental specimens, the accumulated shear deformation degree Λ was different. The findings describing the hereditable physical state of the strengthened surface layer of parts during cutting and surface plastic deformation are presented in the paper. The study was carried out using the methods of property accumulation control in deformation sites depending on treatment modes with real-time monitoring of acoustic emission signals. A peculiar feature of these methods is the use of visual recording of the metal plastic flow to be further used in calculating the hereditable parameters of the surface layer quality.

The article presents the research results referring to the analysis of the influence of finish treatment ( lathing, grinding, burnishing) on the contact fatigue of steel applied to marine pump shafts. The research was performed on a roller 40 mm in diameter made of 304L stainless steel. Within the research, the optimalization of burnishing technological parameters was conducted on account of the minimalization of Ra surface roughness coefficient as well as the maximalization of SU degree of surface layer relative hardness [. The multi criteria optimalization conducted by min-max method [ with regard to minimum surface roughness as well as maximum degree of surface layer hardness demonstrated that burnishing process should be carried out at the following technological parameters: burnishing force 1.1 kN, burnishing speed 35 m/min, feed 0.13 mm/rev. In addition, the influence of the burnisher passes number on the surface layer quality was determined [.The paper will present the research results of contact fatigue examination of samples after finish machining.
