HGF is one of the factors taking part in regeneration and recovery of liver after injury. The article is dedicated to the study of influence of single HGF intake on the indices of non-specific immune response in rats after 70% liver resection in the early postoperative period. Research was conducted on 42 six-months white male Wistar rats of 250–300 g. It was revealed that level of segmentonuclear neutrophils and lymphocytes in the group with HGF intake stand at normal level on the 2nd day and normalizes to the 11th day that testifies to the decrease of inflammatory response. Increased level of leukocytes and monocytes is registered in the group with HGF intake. Also integrity of non-specific resistance in the early postoperative period on the 2nd day is registered. Suppression of phagocytosis indices with preservation of functional activity of phagocytes was registered to the 11th day.

<p><strong>Background</strong>: Smoking is a bad habit for health. There are many dangerous components inside a cigarette. The smoke that comes out from the cigarette contains many harmful components. Smoking and getting exposed to cigarette smoke in a long period of time can cause inflammatory response on respiratory tract. Mahkota dewa leaf contains beneficial biological component, such as <em>flavonoid</em>, <em>alkaloid</em>, and<em>saponin </em>that have anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and many others.</p><p><strong>Aim :</strong>The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of administration of mahkota dewa leaf (<em>Phaleria macrocarpa</em>) extract onlung histopathology in white male Wistar rats (<em>Rattus norvegicus</em>) exposed to cigarette smoke.</p><p><strong>Methods : </strong>This research is a true laboratory experimental research using <em>Post-Test Only Control Group Design</em>. The subject in this research were 30 male Wistar Rats (<em>Rattus norvegicus</em>) which were divided into 4 groups, a group without given any treatment (K-), a group where they only getting exposed to cigarette smoke (K+), a group where they exposed to cigarette smoke and given mahkota dewa leaf extract at 1500 mg/kgBW/day dose (Eg1), and the group exposed to cigarette smoke and a mahkota dewa leaf extract at a 2500 mg/kgBW/day dose (Eg2).</p><p><strong>Result            : </strong>1.) There was a significant difference on lung histopathology between K- and K+, Eg1, and Eg2. 2.) There was no significant difference on lung histopathology between K+, Eg1 and Eg2.</p><p><strong>Conclusion : </strong>Exposure to 5 cigarette smoke in 21 days caused lung histopathology changes. However, there was no effect of the administration of mahkota dewa leaves extract at 1500 mg/kgBW/day and 2500 mg/kgBW/day on lung histopathology of white male Wistar rats exposed to 5 cigarette smoke in 21 days.</p><p><strong>Keyword : </strong><em>Phaleria macrocarpa leaf, </em>Flavonoid, Alkaloid, cigarette smoke, inflammatory response, Infiltration of Inflammatory cells.</p>

Background: the use of various scaffolds allows us to model the future fibrous framework of the newly formed regenerate, and also serves as a substrate for the settlement of the cellular component. The development of tissue engineering in regenerative medicine demands an understanding of the more specific mechanisms of the formation of the connective framework at the site of the defect. The aim of this research was to study the morphofunctional rearrangement of the fibrous structures of the rat dermis in response to the implantation of a 3D scaffold based on polyprolactone Methods and Results: The experiment was performed on 30 white male Wistar rats. The object of the study was a skin fragment together with an implantable 3D scaffold based on polyprolactone, taken on Days 3, 7 and 14 after implantation. Biomaterial with implantable scaffold was studied using light and scanning electron microscopy. The results of the study indicate that the 3D scaffold based on polyprolactone has good biocompatibility, causing a weak inflammatory reaction, and contributes to the formation of the connective tissue framework by Day 14. Conclusion: The results of the study can be used to develop new scaffolds or modify existing ones, as a "framework" for populating the cellular component and creating tissue-engineering structures.

Background: The aim of this study is to evaluate the potential effect of vitamin C as an antioxidant on liver regeneration after partial hepatectomy and acetaminophen-induced liver injury in Wistar rats. Methods: A total of 24 male Wistar rats were divided into four groups, each group consisted of 6 rats: group A (control, partial hepatectomy/PHx alone), group B (PHx and vitamin C 250 mg/kg BW), group C (acetaminophen 500 mg/kg BW and PHx), and group D (acetaminophen 500 mg/kg BW with PHx and vitamin C 250 mg/kg BW). Subtoxic dose of acetaminophen was given 24 hours before partial hepatectomy. Vitamin C was given orally via oral gavage for 6 consecutive days after partial hepatectomy. POD 7, all animals were terminated and performed laparotomy to obtain liver tissue for measurement of liver weight and regeneration rate, blood samples for malondialdehyde (MDA) as a lipid peroxidation measurement and histopathological investigation. Results: The means of regeneration rate in vitamin C groups were significantly higher compared to non-vitamin C group (p<0.05). Similar result, the means of MDA values in vitamin C groups were significantly lower compared to non-vitamin C group (p<0.05). This result suggests a protective effect of vitamin C against lipid peroxidation. Histopathological changes in liver cells were statistically difference between vitamin C groups and non-vitamin C groups (p<0.05).Conclusions: Our results indicate that vitamin C administration promotes liver regeneration and inhibits lipid peroxidation after partial hepatectomy and acetaminophen-induced liver injury in Wistar rats.

The narrowing of the lumen of the trachea due to cicatricial stenoses of the trachea is one of the urgent problems of the modern surgery.  The processes taking place in the trachea and lungs lead to a change in the state of the immune system. Assessment of the dynamics of  indices of nonspecific resistance is one of the methods for assessing  the severity of the course of the disease. We studied the indices of  nonspecific resistance of the organism in narrowing the lumen of the  trachea in an experiment in the early postoperative period.  The study was carried out on the basis of the scientific department  of experimental surgery with the vivarium of Irkutsk Scientific  Centre of Surgery and Traumatology, on 24 white male Wistar rats  with a body weight of 300–350 g. We simulated narrowing the lumen of the trachea by placing a silicone tube in the lumen of the trachea  for 14 days. The parameters of phagocytosis, the state of phagocytic activity of blood neutrophils, spontaneous NBT-test, induced NBT- test were studied. The animals were withdrawn from the experiment  on the 3rd, 7th and 14th day. We revealed that as a result of  narrowing of the lumen of the trachea with the original procedure,  the nonspecific resistance of the organism was violated with  inhibition of the phagocytic activity of leukocytes. There was  inhibition of phagocytic activity of leukocytes and depletion of the  functional reserve of leukocytes.
