To the Question of the Metal Magnetic Memory Method Application for Stress-Strained State Determination of Metal Structures
The article considers the possibility of using the MMM method for stress-strained state determination of metal structures. The problems of MMM method physical limitations are discussed; statistical data obtained from the real objects monitoring are presented. It is concluded that it is impossible to give any opinion about the object’s state (i.e. the object has or has not defects) on the basis of the MMM method results without confirmation it by any other NDT method because just absence of magnetic anomalies does not indicate that the stress-strained state of the object is absent or low. It is shown that the "contactless magnetometric diagnostics", which uses surface signal registration from defects leakage fields and from the areas with weak local magnetic irregularities, cannot be applied for pipelines diagnostics.
