The “management theory jungle” described by Koontz appears to be overrun with even more theoretical undergrowth than when he wrote his seminal critiques of the state of this body of knowledge more than 40 years ago. This article endeavors to provide a clear and fairly narrow path through that jungle, using the seminal thinkers in management as our guides. It recommends adopting a paradigm‐based approach to the management discipline rather than struggling through the jungle of multiple theories and “schools of thought”. This approach satisfies the criteria set forth by Koontz to bring much needed clarification to the discipline of management. Specifically this approach: restricts the discipline to a manageable size; uses its simple and straightforward terminology; and gives direction to teaching and research. The article concludes with a discussion of some ideas on how to teach management using this paradigmatic approach.

The life and career way of outstanding national infectious disease specialist, a talented organizer of medical science, known public figure, the creator of the original scientific school, Academician of AMS of the USSR, laureate of the State Prize of the USSR, Professor Konstantin V. Bunin is presented in the paper

The current trends of development, ensuring the welfare of the state, are in continuous communication with innovation activity. Under the influence of complex and sustainable innovation processes, the concept of the national innovation system is embodied at the macroeconomic level in its totality. Numerous elements are seen in the conjugation of the national innovation system scale, among which higher education institutions, and their scientific and innovative potential take their place. However, the reverse side is inequality in the levels of university integration, which introduces a discrepancy between the degree of their effectiveness as the elements of the national innovation system. So it becomes urgent to have a specific set of steps to improve the level of university integration. The process of integration level increase must be governed necessarily by the principles of suitable integration condition management, where it is possible to justify waiting by creation of a management algorithm for university integration in the national innovation system. The result of such an algorithm application is the obtaining of a visual set of steps by a user to ensure the process of managerial decision making and implementation to improve the level of university integration in the national innovation system. The increase of university integration will directly enhance its interaction with other elements of NIS, and therefore will increase its contribution to the national economy development, and other priority areas of the state.

Project management is an important process for the implementation of strategies. Different organizations use these concepts and tools to deploy strategies and acquire and sustain competitive advantages. Its importance to the proper execution of strategies has received the attention of different scholars. In line with project management, global projects have some specificities that make them more difficult to manage, as foreign liability and cultural issues. As the success of strategies and organizations themselves are linked to the success of projects, to understand global projects means to understand how management theory can be applied to project management in order to make organizations more successful. This bibliometric study aims to identify current trends in the global projects literature and evaluate its state of the art. Our conclusion indicates a concentration of papers on institutional theory, risk analysis/decision process and project marketing. We believe our study can support and encourage scholars to research the existing clusters identified by this study and evaluate how organization theory can be applied to the management of global projects.
