Prerequisites for the development of food tourism in the Republic of Crimea

Following an analysis of factors which hinder the development of the regional tourism sector, for the purpose of the regional travel industry development the article justifies the need for development of a new product of the Crimean tourism industry – food tourism. The article explores the potential of the concept of food tourism promotion and development based on prospects available for the different parties concerned. To identify the parties concerned and their motives, the article has addressed conceptual issues relating to a connection between food tourism and tourism sector development; potential of food tourism as an instrument of region development; strategy to be evolved to encourage development of food tourism. It has been established that the parties interested in the origin and development of food tourism may be grouped into four separate categories depending on geographic scope of their operations, business profile and value of their interests: 1) “state regulatory authorities” – regional and municipal state authorities; 2) “food intermediaries” that comprise a wide range of the concerned market players involved in tourism and related sectors; 3) “farmers (producers) and restaurant keepers” involved in provision of food services or production, “public concerned” – volunteers involved in surveys, the findings of which may be used for the development of strategies. It has been found out that the development of food tourism in the Republic of Crimea requires consolidation of efforts, knowledge and capabilities of all the parties interested in the diversification of tourism product, extension of time frames of a high tourist season and increase in marketability of the regional tourism product, in particular, and tourism sector, in general.

Abstract The travel and tourism industry is one of the largest and fastest-growing sectors in the world. In the case of countries like Georgia, where tourism is a priority sector of the economy, innovation is crucial for a tourism-based development strategy — and this has become particularly important in the post-pandemic realities. This paper proposes a certain framework for understanding the possibilities for harnessing technological innovations in the travel industry (particularly apps and websites). It then considers the specific example of the country of Georgia, outlining the state’s measures meant to foster IT innovation in tourism and also certain moderate successes to date in this respect. Next, the paper looks to Russian tourist-sector start-ups as models for operation that be successfully harnessed in the Georgian tourism industry, examining several such Russian start-ups in closer detail.

The purpose of the article is to assess the current state of domestic and inbound tourism in Transnistria, to identify the potential of tourism as an instrument of anti-crisis and promising socio-economic policy. Method. The article uses mainly analytical, evaluation, statistical and prognostic research methods. In particular, the analysis of the state statistical reports and reports of tourist companies operating in the region. Results. The estimation of the main parameters of the tourism sector and its role in the economy of Transnistria. Some aspects of the" concept of development of domestic and inbound tourism in the TMR for 2018-2020", which contains an analysis of the tourism industry, the main goals and objectives of its development, as well as a set of government measures aimed at improving the efficiency of tourism management. Innovation. Factor analysis showed the strengths, opportunities and consequences of tourism development in the region , it is necessary to strengthen the work to increase the attractiveness of the Republic for foreign tourists. The practical significance lies in the availability of proposals, the implementation of which will improve the efficiency of the recreational potential of the region and the final results of tourism activities. The list of tourist services offered in official documents has been expanded, joint international tours have been proposed, which can significantly increase the tourist attractiveness of the region.

The integration mechanism for developing tourism industry is among the ways of increasing the competitiveness of the region, reducing the impact of negative factors, ensuring the diversification of the regional tourism product. Territorial production structure of tourist integration is a regional or interregional association created to combine the potential of tourism and service infrastructure, tourist and recreational resources, tourism goods and services, and human potential of the industry in order to create a single territorial tourist space capable of offering competitive goods in the regional, national and global tourism market. Features of the Mykolaiv oblast determine the possibility of creating specific cluster formations in the tourism sector in this area. From the socio-economic viewpointiew, tourist and recreational clusters form the preconditions for regional development. Thus, the formation of a tourist and recreational cluster actually determines the market positioning of the region and largely affects its image. Among the entities participating in a tourism and recreation cluster, one can not only name the enterprises and organizations acting in the tourism industry and producing and selling tourism products and services, but also the regional authorities (represented by their representatives or specially created regulatory and / or supervisory structures), scientific and educational institutions, associations of entrepreneurs, etc. A tourism and recreational cluster can be formed at different territorial and branch-wise levels, e/g/ local, regional, interregional levels. The development of a tourism and recreational cluster in the region includes several successive stages: a) the initiation of its creation by the authorities («from above»), by business («from below») or by society; b) the creation of a management company; c) drawing up a strategic plan for the cluster development and coordination with the regional development strategy; d) the daily management of the cluster enterprises; e) further development based on self-organization. This model for designing a tourism and recreational cluster makes it possible to take into account the interests of all its participants and create conditions for sustainable development of a tourist area.

Tourism sector provides a significant contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Republic of Indonesia, both through foreign exchange and economic turnover. Although the Indonesian tourism industry after the COVID-19 pandemic has changed with an emphasis on green and clean products, it is hoped that this sector will be lessened by the community compared to the previous era. Research and development of VR has been carried out in various fields such as games, education, aviation, medicine, the application of VR in tourism is still common, there is a need to implement tourism while staying at home. The results of the systematic literature review conducted provide an explanation of the starting point for research by applying VR and making 3600 videos for industrial tourism. The article provides an overview of the main strategic documents for the development of the tourism industry both at the federal level and at the regional levels. Among the main measures for the implementation of the Strategy for the period up to 2035 in the tourism sector, they noted: the formation of the institutional system of the industry; development of tourist infrastructure; formation of a tourist product; qualitatively new management of the industry; advanced training of participants in the tourism industry; ensuring an increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting the Russian Federation. To analyze the development of these measures in the region, a SWOT-analysis of the development of the tourism industry in the Voronezh region was carried out. The strengths included the availability of significant resources for the development of various types of tourism. The created room stock of accommodation facilities, represented by key foreign and domestic hotel brands, is capable of receiving up to 1.5 million tourists a year. The developed transport infrastructure of the Voronezh region, the presence of the international airport "Voronezh" are significant competitive advantages of the Voronezh region. The weaknesses include the fact that Voronezh and the region do not have a sufficiently developed hospitality industry and a well-recognized brand. The contribution of tourism activity to the well-being of its key participants was considered. A forecast was made in accordance with the Tourism Development Strategy 2035 of the export of tourism services and the gross value added of the tourism industry in Russia.

Natural resources in the Carpathian region, favorable natural and geographicalconditions give preference to the development of recreational industry over other types ofindustrial activity that provides: employment of people in recreational region, development ofUkraine and the recognition of its economy internationally, positive impact on the formation ofindividual. This necessitates a systematic study of a wide range of organizational problems,recreational planning and creation of new management models for tourist activities.Modern development of the tourism industry is associated with such socio-economic factors: thegrowth of social welfare and the effective demand for tourist services; increasing demand forvacation and recreation; urbanization and globalization; communicational and humanitarianfactors; transformation of traditions, cultures and social consciousness; changes in the structure ofspiritual values; increased leisure time etc .

Purpose Globally, poverty has been a persistent problem despite decades of unprecedented growth. The purpose of this paper is to deliberate on a sustainable livelihoods and poverty eradication approach in an African context. Design/methodology/approach The paper aims to bridge the gaps in poverty eradication strategies in East Africa by examining recent literature on livelihoods approaches and poverty eradication approaches. Findings Safari tourism is one way of connecting poor communities in Kenya to the tourism industry. The development of community conservancies in Kenya presents yet more opportunities for communities to be integrated with the sector. The Africanization of the tourism sector in Kenya is a priority, as communities embrace tourism and poverty eradication measures. Practical implications There is a need for the Safari tourism sector to integrate the local community’s indigenous knowledge systems, community social capital and the community’s natural capital with tourism product development and diversification. Originality/value The paper draws on applied research and technical analysis of the unique opportunities for enhancing sustainable poverty eradication through the tourism sector in East Africa and, more particularly, a Kenyan context.

AbstractTourist activity in the Republic of Croatia is one of the leading and most promising activities. It is our past, present and future. According to the National Bank, the share of revenues from travel - tourism in overall GDP in the first 9 months of 2015 was 22.2%, an increase of 1.2% compared to the same period in 2014. In the third quarter share of revenues from travel - tourism in total GDP amounted to 41.3%, as compared to the same period in 2014, representing a growth of 1.4%. The conclusion is that tourism is one of the leading economic sectors in the Republic of Croatia. Due to realized 78 million and 569,000 overnight stays (6.8% more than in 2014) and more than 8 billion of foreign exchange inflows, the Republic of Croatia on the overall tourism market has been recognized as an important destination whose development potentials have not yet been exhausted. Relevant institutions and predictions underline the fact that tourism is one of the keys for faster integration of Croatia in the entire world economy and the networked society, from which it can be read that Croatia must view this sector in a new way and allow tourism to undergo complete transformation, in order to cope with future competitive challenges more easily. According to estimates by the World Travel & Tourism Council direct and indirect employment in the tourism sector in 2008 was about 300,000 employees, but that number will have increased by additional 100,000 in the next ten years. The Croatian tourism today employs 35-40% of workers. Thus, the tourism industry is a comprehensive and a very important generator of jobs of different profiles - from catering and hotel industry to entertainment and animation. In the light of progress in the development of tourism, and regardless of specific personnel, Croatia still needs a lot of work on the construction of the existing profile of tourism personnel and management and educate the tourist interest in tourism future. In addition, employment in the hospitality and tourism industry has a very high seasonal fluctuation of work, while the proportion of highly educated so-called senior managers is weak due to the contemporary needs of the tourism of the 21st century. The system of education for tourism is not performed well at all levels of education, and the result is inadequate qualifications. On the other hand, salaries of employees in the tourism industry, especially in the hospitality and catering industry, are among the lowest in the Republic of Croatia. With its tourism development strategy, the Republic of Croatia has turned towards building quality destinations (new facilities, renovation of existing and quality services). This paper will analyze how the quality of services, backed by human activity, is the key to the success of any enterprise, with an adopted conclusion about what kind of future we are building in this segment. The research will be carried out through the review and analysis of trends in employment in the tourism industry, the qualifying term structure of employees, their share in the total employees in the Republic of Croatia, the competitiveness in the international labor market for a period of last 5 years.
