The monograph analyzes the policy in relation to cities and regions with monospecialization as one of the priority directions of state policy. The article considers the specifics of single-industry cities and regions as socio-political phenomena and objects of state regulation. The main principles, directions, mechanisms and tools for the implementation of state policy in relation to single-profile spatial formations are studied. Special attention is paid to the political and comparative analysis of foreign and domestic experience in the formation and implementation of this direction of state policy, as well as to identifying the degree of applicability of its main models in modern conditions. For specialists in the field of political science and related sciences, as well as anyone interested in this issue in its theoretical and applied dimensions.

The article introduces a new approach to the problem of political spectrum polarization. Political science has introduced a multitude of spectrograms based on different factors, dimensions, axes, and cardinal points. Most often the graphics do not complement each other, and it seems that each of them describes a completely different reality. There was an urgent need to conduct an objective analysis of political philosophies and find the factors that influence the political spectrum polarization. For these purposes, the Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) was used, as it allows to introduce a fraction of objectivity due to the use of a formalized mathematical apparatus of the theory of sets. Thirteen main political doctrines were analyzed and obtained that spectrum polarization depends on three conditions: attitude to private property, individual freedom, and wealth redistribution. As the factors that influence the political spectrum polarization were firmly determined, it became possible to build a spectrogram unambiguously.

The article is devoted to comparative analysis of two repatriations: bringing ashes of Juliusz Słowacki in 1927 and bringing remains of Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz in 1988. Both these events, being socio-political performances, fit into the broader concept of necropolitics, in which they are analyzed. The article compares the causes of the political nature of these ceremonies, their conduct, public reception and the effectiveness of counteracting the socio-political crisis, which was one of the main reasons for reaching for the funeral ritual by the rulers. The main purpose of the article, in addition to the comparative analysis of the above elements, is to emphasize the political dimension of mourning ceremonies, which can successfully be the subject of research in political science.

Comparative Constitutionalism and Good Governance in the Commonwealth: An Eastern and Southern African Perspective, John Hatchard, Muna Ndulo and Peter Slinn, Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2004, pp. xxv, 361This is a magisterial tome in both substance and style. It is comprehensive, almost encyclopaedic; it also presents the perspective of “constitutional lawyers” (4), at least until the “retreat” towards the political science in the concluding, thirteenth chapter (310). Reflective of their trade, the trio of authors include lists of cases, constitutions, statutes and other instruments, with page references, as well as a comprehensive index of almost 20 pages. The volume presents the significant conceptual advances in comparative constitutionalism in anglophone Africa since independence, including democratic pressures towards “good governance” advanced through the Commonwealth nexus (1); but it also comes to lament the continuing existential constraints on “constitutional governance” (308). It offers welcome comparative analysis of a dozen countries and myriad regimes over four decades.

In this paper we present a large-scale comparative analysis model for videogames in which the player manages the development of a political community, which we will call «government simulators». The model, built upon political-science literature and other analytical models for videogames, uses a set of operationalized variables to synthesize the components of the political system represented in games, as well as the structure of objectives and other elements that guide the player’s action, to finally compare them with a set of independent variables. The model will be tested by applying it to three famous government simulators that have received notable academic attention (Civilization V, Tropico IV and Frostpunk), to finally discuss its advantages and limitations.

This investigation has been developed by four undergraduate political science students and is the result of several months of effort and dedication. The goal was to conduct a comparative analysis of the political science student. This paper does not pretend to be a completed work, but rather an initial exploration into the topic. For this study, we tried to build a model profile of the political science and public administration student taking into consideration three variables: political culture, or the students’ pre-existing idea about political science, motive, as the more idyllic aspect of the profession, responding to the question “why do I study political science?”, and expectations, understood as the direction and goals the student seeks in the field.

The authors have chosen tribalism and its role in contemporary Kazakhstan as an object of their studies. Despite the official political course aimed at comprehensive modernization of the state and society, tribalism has not yet been marginalized. The opposite is true: it is on the rise, and thus remains one of the urgent subjects of social discussions. The authors have outlined the forms in which clan relationships manifest themselves in the political and social spheres of Kazakhstan. An analysis of certain approaches to the studies of the country’s ethnic and social structure is conducted and comparative analysis of the evolution of clan-and-tribal relations based on the methods of political science is proposed with the aim to identify its specifics in Kazakhstan’s past and present. The authors have presented the results of in-depth field polls carried out in several auls (villages) in 2020 to substantiate their hypothesis of the forms which clan relationships have assumed in Kazakhstan.

In general, the founders of the National Conference of Black Political Scientists were “movement people.” Powerful agents of socialization such as the uprisings of the 1960s molded them into scholars with tremendous resolve to tackle systemic inequalities in the political science discipline. In forming NCOBPS as an independent organization, many sought to develop a Black perspective in political science to push the boundaries of knowledge and to use that scholarship to ameliorate the adverse conditions confronting Black people in the United States and around the globe. This paper utilizes historical documents, speeches, interviews, and other scholarly works to detail the lasting contributions of the founders and Black political scientists to the discipline, paying particular attention to their scholarship, teaching, mentoring, and civic engagement. It finds that while political science is much improved as a result of their efforts, there is still work to do if their goals are to be achieved.
