Noodles available in numerous brands and variants have become popular nowadays in the Indian markets. However, there were setbacks for this industry owing to the blacklist of a few brands by the state authorities and the consequent boycott of those brands by the general public. In this context, this study intends to investigate the factors which affect the purchase decision of consumers of Packaged Foods, especially the Ready-To-Cook noodles. The consumption patterns of the consumers in terms of taste, convenience and availability are also examined. This exploratory research has been done among the Bengaluru youth in the age group of 20-30 years, and the influence of five major players in this segment - Maggi, Yippee, Ching’s, Top Ramen and Knorr are explored. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) is used to understand the differences and variations among the brands. The paper concludes that Ready-To-Cook noodles has not yet got the acknowledgement and acceptance among the youth, though there is an immense potential for growth in this segment in the future. Critical factors that influence the buying decision of consumers are convenience, taste and availability. Consumers believe that noodles category should include more variety at reasonable and affordable prices, which will cater to the demand of this product in future. However, the brands in this study perform satisfactorily on the factors selected. And Maggi is perceived to be the best brand of noodle in terms of price, and Knorr in terms of its variety.

In this paper it is shown that there is no support in economic theory for the suggested trade-off between jobs and the environment. Moreover, improved environmental quality may accelerate economic growth via improved health and productivity of workers, lower maintenance costs, and enhanced productivity of capital inputs. Also, empirical evidence is presented on the preference of the general public regarding environmental quality. The empirical evidence indicates that people are ready to trade part of their income for improved environmental quality.

This study describes the psychographic profile and the use of media by the visitors of the Surabaya Zoo from the millennial age group, which is between 19 s.d. 40 years old. This age generation is the result of demographic bonuses for groups or generations born between the 1980s and 2000s, with characteristics that reflect the transition between the previous generation (baby boomers) and afterwards (gene Z) in terms of lifestyle and media use. This difference is partly due to a shift in communication technology that also affects their media consumption patterns. The characteristics of millennials are identified by special behavior, being protected, confident, group oriented, conventional, resistant to pressure and pursuing achievement. Surabaya Zoo which is a local tourism destination that is officially managed by the Surabaya City Government is required to contribute to the local revenue of the City of Surabaya. The breakthrough that has been done targeting the Millennial generation that tends to be individually oriented is to provide a Selfie park and offer activities that attract the interest of visitors. This program has increased the number of KBS visitors from year to year. By employing survey methods and measuring VALS (Values And Life Style) and frequency of media use by respondents, the results obtained that the psychographic profile of KBS visitors can be categorized tend to be Principle Oriented, whose lifestyle is characterized by: having spiritual values, not thinking about prestige, like learning something new, have a traditional mindset, and do a fixed routine for a long time. With this profile, the main expectation of millennial for the availability of information at the Surabaya Zoo is information about animals, instead of the need for selfies. Keywords: psychographic profile, millennial, media use

Strain in basketball competition can be structured temporally into three psychologically meaningful phases: a beginning, main, and endphase of each half-time. The relevance of these phases for the diagnosis of an individual psychological crisis during the competition is discussed. Empirical evidence is based on the results of a study conducted on 28 basketball experts, who were asked to assess the components of the Bayesian likelihood ratio (diagnosticity) for each phase, thereby evaluating the crisis-relevance of that phase. Analysis of variance shows the significant influences of the hypothesized crisis-noncrisis character, half-time (first-second) and phase (beginning, main, end) on the (considerable) diagnostic relevance of the time-phases. The authors briefly discuss the meaning of the present results.

Purpose – There are many arguments in the literature on environmental management stating that companies that have a significant environmental performance tend to be more competitive, because environmental management tends to generate positive effects on their operational performance. Despite the fact that such arguments are widely accepted, there is little empirical evidence yet of such a relationship in manufacturing contexts that are rarely studied thus far, such as those of developing countries. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach – With the objective of testing the positive relationship between environmental performance and operational performance, this research presents the data of a survey conducted with 75 ISO 9001-certified Brazilian companies. Such data were analyzed by means of structural equation modeling. Findings – The paper discovered that, indeed, environmental management relates in a positive, significant manner and large effect to the operational performance of companies. Originality/value – This is the first exploratory research relating environmental management and operational performance in Brazilian companies with ISO 9001.

The study explored into accounting implications of micro-fiscal measures and quality of real gross national goods and services: empirical evidence from Nigeria for a period of thirty years. The objective was to examine how micro-fiscal measures affect real gross national goods and services using thirty years’ time-series data. The exploratory research methodology was applied and data collected were analysed using multiple regression and other statistical techniques. Findings of the study revealed that significant and direct effects were exerted on gross national goods and services by all the known and identified micro-fiscal measures in the review, except swap and levy ratios which had inverse relationship as revealed by their coefficients obtained from the analysis. Therefore, the government and government agencies have a duty to control macro-fiscal activities in terms of creation of national goods, wealth and services using the identified micro-fiscal mechanisms as the basis for decisions and policies making besides implementation.

Chinese immigrants may dismiss pathological decline of dementia as part of normal aging (Woo and Mehta, 2017). While the internet may be a source of health information for Chinese immigrants, the quality of online dementia information was lower in Chinese than in English (Tsiang and Woo, 2017). Recent studies have demonstrated feasibility of YouTube videos in disseminating health information to the Chinese-speaking general public (Lam et al., 2017; Zheng and Woo, 2017). Therefore, we evaluated the performance of YouTube in targeting Chinese-speaking individuals in Britain who are in the high risk age group (e.g. aged 55 years and above) of developing dementia.

Keywords

Daring; Imunitas; Preferensi konsumen; Rantai pasok; Sinergi

Abstract

Studies of national fruit consumption patterns before and at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic period need to be carried out as an initial step for improvement to achieve food sustainability. A total of 466 respondents were involved in the survey which was conducted online. Descriptive analysis, sign test, and Fishers exact test were used. The results indicated there was a shift in consumption patterns before and at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic period, in terms of (1) expenditure allocation for fruit per month, (2) frequency, (3) place of purchase, (4) difficulties in procurement, and (5) types of national fruit consumed. The shift is a sign of the need for efforts to increase awareness of national fruit consumption. The synergy between producers and distributors to form an efficient and effective supply chain, and the use of digital platforms, is crucial, so that consumers can enjoy high quality national fruit from home at affordable prices. Demografic segmentation based on age group can be considered by providers, because it has a significant relationship with the second to fifth consumption pattern attributes. Further studies are needed to capture the shift impact on the supply and value chain.

AbstractThe aim of this study is to investigate air travellers’ behaviour with regard to choices for ground access to this airport. Questionnaire data were collected from 684 respondents. Multinomial logit modelling was employed for this purpose. These findings indicate that in families with at least one car of their own, the tendency for using bus and carpooling was decreased. In addition, it was found that those in the 36 - 40 age group were more inclined to take the taxi. Finally, the results of this study suggest that with the growing price of the private car, the tendency to use it was diminished. Therefore, if transportation authorities seek to reduce the use of personal cars, it is possible to make the use of private cars expensive with increasing the parking cost in the airport. This may lead to the reduction of using private cars in land access to Mehrabad airport.
