A survey of phytoseiid mites associated with crops and wild plants on Lesvos Island was conducted. Of twenty three species collected the most abundant were the following: Phytoseius finitimus Ribaga sensu Denmark (30%), Euseius finlandicus (Oudemans) and Typhlodromus psyllakisi Swirski and Ragusa (26%), Typhlodromus athenas Swirski and Ragusa (19%), Typhlodromus cryptus Athias-Henriot, and Typhlodromus intercalaris Livshitz and Kuznetsov (15%). A new species, Typhlodromus sapphicus sp. n., collected on Tilia sp. is also described.

Phytoseiid mites have been intensively surveyed in Taiwan during the past decades because of their potential as biological control agent. Despite the fact, many regions of Taiwan remain under-explored especially in mountain areas and neighboring islands. Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) crossostephium sp. nov. was collected from Crossostephium chinense (L.) Makino (Asteraceae) on rocky shore habitat during a survey on Lanyu Island. In this paper, presence of a phytoseiid mite on rocky shores is reported for the first time. A detailed morphological description of the new species and a key to the Taiwanese species of subgenus Anthoseius are provided.

A new species of phytoseiid mites is described from Brazil, Typhlodromus moraesi sp. nov., collected on Tabebuia alba (Cham.) Sandwith and Chamaesyce hirta (L.) Millsp. in the State of São Paulo. This is the second species of the T. arizonicus group.

Phytoseiid mites have received considerable world wide attention because of their potential as natural enemies of phytophagous mites (McMurtry, 1984). The Amblyseius obtusus group Chant  is the largest species group in the genus Amblyseius. Chant & McMurtry (2004) divided the group into seven subgroups based on spermathecal morphology. The andersoni subgroup of Chant & McMurtry, 2004 is characterized by a spermatheca with the calyx dish-, cup-, bell-, or V-shaped, with the length/width ratio at the mid-point of the calyx < 3:1. A total of 24 species of the andersoni subgroup are known from the Neotropical region, 13 of these from Brazil (Moraes et al., 2004). A new species of this subgroup, Amblyseius paulofariensis sp. nov., is described and illustrated in this paper, from specimens collected in the semi-deciduous forest area of “Estação Ecológica de Paulo de Faria”, a protected natural area in the State of São Paulo, southeastern Brazil, on three species of Euphorbiaceae: Acalypha diversifolia Jacq., Actinostemon communis (Müll. Arg.) and Alchornea glandulosa Poepp. & Endl.. In the region where this mites was found, the climate is of the type Cwa-Aw of Köppen, with two distinct seasons: one wet, from October to March, and the other dry, from April to September. The annual mean temperature is 25°C, with a maximum mean of 30°C and a minimum mean of 20°C (Barcha & Arid, 1971; Arid & Barcha, 1973).

This paper reports the mites of the family Phytoseiidae known from Argentina. It is based mostly on a survey conducted in the northern region of that country as well as on published information. Twenty-two species were found in that survey, ten of which are new records from that country, including a new species here described as Neoseiulus argentinus Guanilo & Moraes n. sp.. Measurements of all species collected and a taxonomic key to separate the species known to date from Argentina are provided. All together 47 species are reported from Argentina.

Sorbuslushanensis Xin Chen &amp; Jing Qiu, sp. n. (Rosaceae), a new simple-leaved species belonging to Sorbussubg.Ariasect.Alnifoliae, is described from Anhui and Jiangxi provinces in China. Illustrations, photographs of wild plants and a distribution map are presented. The new species is morphologically similar to S.folgneri, but can be distinguished easily by its abaxially greenish-grey tomentose leaves, scale-like stipules and glabrous styles.

Thirteen species of phytoseiid mites of the subfamilies Typhlodrominae and Phytoseiinae are reported for the first time from Spain. Typhlodromus (Typhlodromus) baeticus sp. nov. is described and four species poorly known morphologically, Paraseiulus soleiger (Ribaga), Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) ilicis Athias-Henriot, Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) recki Wainstein and Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) sapiens Athias-Henriot are re-described based on new materials collected in Spain. Finally, the unknown male of Typhloseiulus eleonorae Ragusa & Swirski is described and additional morphological information is provided for other seven species.
