Economic injury levels for cover sprays and air bait sprays were established for the infestation by Dacus oleae (Gmelin) (Diptera: Tephritidae). For cover sprays, the economic injury levels (expressed as percent infestation by taking 30,000 fruits to represent the average number of fruits per tree) were calculated as 7.59% for infestation laid in late July-August, 6.16% for infestation in September and 10.31% for infestation in October. For air bait sprays, economic injury levels were calculated for various fruiting conditions (expressed as proportion of trees bearing olive fruits) and they were much lower than for cover sprays due to the lower cost of air treatments. For July-August, they ranged from 5.07% infestation for 25% trees bearing olives to 1 .27% for 100% trees with olive fruits. For September they ranged from 4.11% to 1.08% infestation, for October they ranged from 6.88% to 1 .72% infestation and for infestation laid in November they ranged from 61.28% to 15.32% infestation, respectively. The economic injury levels for air bait sprays were also expressed as mean weekly number of females per McPhail trap by taking into account the potential fecundity of D. oleae and the efficiency of the McPhail trap (baited with protein hydrolysate 2% and borax 1 .5%) at different times of the year. For September, they ranged from 16 females per trap for groves with 25% of trees bearing olive fruits, to 4 females per trap for 100% trees with fruits. For October, they ranged from 6 females per trap to I female per trap, respectively.

Life table and economic threshold (ET) level of Diacrisia casignetum Kollar on jute was calculated in West Bengal condition during 2016-2018 for environmentally benign management and better production of jute. The demographic data of D. casignetum always construct type-III survivorship curve like most of the insects. Potential fecundity (Pf) and total fertility rate (Fx) were 384.667±5.487 and 30893.60±1063.586, respectively. The average intrinsic rate of natural increase (rm) and the daily finite rate of increase (ë) were 0.106±0.001 and 1.111±0.003 respectively with the generation time (Tc) of 41.520±0.069 and doubling time (DT) of 6.563±0.021 days. Their mean population momentum factor of increase (PMF) was 19.676±0.605 including vital index (VI) and trend index (TI) of 0.522±0.003 and 92.359±2.648, respectively with different levels of significance. The economic injury level (EIL) and ET based on percent yield loss of jute were 7.119±2.166 and 6.385±1.969 pests per plant, respectively. At single pest observation per plant, the possible time taken to reach EIL (Ti) and ET (Tt) were 6.377±3.292 and 5.377±3.292 days, respectively which will be useful for better cultivation of jute and other subsequent crops.

Previous research documenting the chronology of the cellular interactions that occur on or below the surface of the endothelium during the initiation and progression of arterial lesions, primarily consisted of descriptive studies. The recent development of lower cost image analysis hardware and software has facilitated the collection of high resolution quantitative data from microscopic images. In this report we present preliminary quantitative data on the sequence of cellular interactions that occur on the endothelium during the initiation of atherosclerosis or vasculitis utilizing digital analysis of images obtained directly from the scanning electron microscope. Segments of both atherosclerotic and normal arteries were obtained from either diet-induced or endogenously (WHHL) hypercholesterolemic rabbits following 1-4 months duration of hypercholesterolemia and age matched control rabbits. Vasculitis was induced in rats following placement of an endotoxin soaked thread adjacent to the adventitial surface of arteries.

The influence of globalization on international competitiveness is considered in the article. Two strategies of economic growth are pointed out: the low road, that is producing more at lower cost and lower wages, with increasingly intensive exploitation of labor and environment, and the high road, that is upgrading capabilities in order to produce better basing on knowledge. Restrictions for developing countries trying to reach global competitiveness are formulated. Special attention is paid to the concept of upgrading and opportunities of joining transnational value chains. The importance of learning and forming social and political institutions for successful upgrading of the economy is stressed.

Female mass in most altricial birds reaches its maximum during breeding at egg-laying, which coincides temporally with the fertile phase when extra-pair paternity (EPP) is determined. Higher mass at laying may have two different effects on EPP intensity. On the one hand, it would lead to increased wing loading (body mass/wing area), which may impair flight efficiency and thereby reduce female’s capacity to resist unwanted extra-pair male approaches (sexual conflict hypothesis). On the other hand, it would enhance female condition, favouring her capacity to evade mate-guarding and to search for extra-pair mates (female choice hypothesis). In both cases, higher female mass at laying may lead to enhanced EPP. To test this prediction, we reduced nest building effort by adding a completely constructed nest in an experimental group of female pied flycatchers (Ficedula hypoleuca). Our treatment caused an increase in mass and thereby wing loading and this was translated into a significantly higher EPP in the manipulated group compared with the control group as expected. There was also a significant negative relationship between EPP and laying date and the extent of the white wing patch, an index of female dominance. More body reserves at laying mean not only a higher potential fecundity but a higher level of EPP as well. This interaction had not previously received due attention but should be considered in future studies of avian breeding strategies.

The data on feeding dairy cows of an energy protein concentrate (EPC) are presented. EPC consists of grain of narrow-leaved lupine, flax, triticale, subjected to heat treatment on a press extruder. The effect of EPC on the change in milk production of cows was determined. The inclusion of extruded concentrate based on lupine grains in the diets of cows made it possible to obtain an increase in milk. Concentrate based on lupine, flax, triticale is equal in biological value to full-fat soy, and at a much lower cost.

AbstractA trench-first dual damascene process has been developed for fat wires (1.26 μm pitch, 1.1 μm thickness) in a 0.18 μm CMOS process with copper/fluorosilicate glass (FSG) interconnect technology. The process window for the patterning of vias in such deep trenches depends on the trench depth and on the line width of the trench, with the worse case being an intermediate line width (lines that are 3X the via diameter). Compared to a single damascene process, the dual damascene process has comparable yield and reliability, with lower via resistance and lower cost.

<b>Abstract:</b> The production of olefins via on-purpose dehydrogenation of alkanes allows for a more efficient, selective and lower cost alternative to processes such as steam cracking. Silica-supported pincer-iridium complexes of the form [(≡SiO-<sup>R4</sup>POCOP)Ir(CO)] (<sup>R4</sup>POCOP = κ<sup>3</sup>-C<sub>6</sub>H<sub>3</sub>-2,6-(OPR<sub>2</sub>)<sub>2</sub>) are effective for acceptorless alkane dehydrogenation, and have been shown stable up to 300 °C. However, while solution-phase analogues of such species have demonstrated high regioselectivity for terminal olefin production under transfer dehydrogenation conditions at or below 240 °C, in open systems at 300 °C, regioselectivity under acceptorless dehydrogenation conditions is consistently low. In this work, complexes <a>[(≡SiO-<i><sup>t</sup></i><sup>Bu4</sup>POCOP)Ir(CO)] </a>(<b>1</b>) and [(≡SiO-<i><sup>i</sup></i><sup>Pr4</sup>PCP)Ir(CO)] (<b>2</b>) were synthesized via immobilization of molecular precursors. These complexes were used for gas-phase butane transfer dehydrogenation using increasingly sterically demanding olefins, resulting in observed selectivities of up to 77%. The results indicate that the active site is conserved upon immobilization.

The study aimed to determine the effect of rebon shirmp (mysis relicta) protein hydrolisate fortification to the sago noodles and to observe the characteristics of the sago noodles produced. The research was carried on in February – April 2019 in the  Laboratory of Fish Processing Technology, Integrated Laboratories, and the Fisheries and Marine Chemistry Laboratories at the Universitas Riau. The method used was the experimental method, designedas a non-factorial complete randomized design. The treatment conducted was addingof rebon shrimp protein hydrolysate at 4 level concentrations (0%, 5%, 10% dan 15%). The variables assessed were the quality of organoleptic (appearance, texture, odor, flavor) and the proximate composition. The results showed that the proteinhydrolysate of rebon shrimp at concentration of 15% was the best treatment and in accordance to the quality standards of dried noodles (SNI 01-2974-1996), indicated bythe highest organoleptic qualityof the dried noodles produced, including: the appearance that was brown, less attractive, whole, less neat; the texture that was dry and compact; the aroma that was quite fragrant, spesific rebon shrimp; and the taste that was quite tasty and shrimp flavored. The proximate composition ofthe best product was presented by the content of moisture, ash, fat, protein, and carbohydrate at 7.55%,1.02%, 0.17%, 16.76%, and 74.49%, respectively.Keywords: Hydrolysate protein, rebon shrimp, sago noodles
