From the study of the Greek bumblebee fauna (Hymenoptera: Apidae, Bombini), species lists have been published based on both literature records and original data from collected bees. Since 1995 a special effort to confirm with newly collected bees all bumblebee species reported in literature records for Greece has been in progress. Although numerous specimens have been collected and examined and in some instances yielding new Bombus species for the Greek insect fauna, some species, mainly those reported in older references, have not yet been found. Recently, identification of bumblebees collected in the Florina Prefecture - Northwest Macedonia, during the years 2006 and 2007 yielded information for two “literature cited” species, Bombus subterraneus (Linnaeus 1758) and Bombus cryptarum (Fabricius 1775). A B. subterraneus queen (collected at 40°47´38N, 21°26´10E on Vicia cracca) was distinguished by morphological characteristics and a worker B. cryptarum (collected at 40°41´58,7N, 21°28´18,5E on Echium spp) was revealed using mitochondrial DNA RFLP analysis of the CO1 gene. These new records from Florina are provided with comments, confirming the species presence in Greece for the first time after approximately 40 years.

Tunisia is a very important World Natural Heritage Site, and no scientific exploitation of its resources regarding insect fauna has taken place. In this study, we present the first work on Carabidae collected fromexpeditions to theIchkeul and El Feidja national parks between 2012 and 2013. A total of 52 species classified into 33 genera, 14 tribes, and 6 subfamilies were found. Five of the captured species are endemic to North Africa; and two species, Acinopus haroldi Schaum, 1863 and Cryptophonus litigiosus litigiosus (Dejean, 1829) were recorded for the first time in Tunisia.

The Neotropical genus Propetes Walker, 1851 currently includes three species recorded from Brazil and Guyana that share morphological characteristics related to wasp-mimicking behavior. A revision of available material of Amazonian Propetes was conducted, and a new species, P. sakakibara sp. nov., is described and illustrated herein based on males from Brazil, Peru, and Venezuela. Based on the association of males and females from Pará State (Brazil), a synonymy is proposed between P. triquetra (Fabricius, 1803) (previously known only from males) and P. compressa Walker, 1851 (previously known only from females). The female genitalia of P. triquetra is redescribed and illustrated in detail. Observation of bluffing display behavior is reported for the first time for the genus, in P. schmidti. A key to all species included in Propetes, based on males and females, and a map of distribution of Propetes species are provided, including new records of the genus from French Guiana, Peru, and Venezuela.

Abstract—A synoptic revision of the genus Epistephium in Colombia based on morphological evidence is presented for the first time. A total of 19 species gathered in 3 morphological groups are currently recognized in the country, including two new records: E. ellipticum and E. sclerophyllum. Morphological characteristics of all the species are presented and illustrated by line drawings of their perianth segments, except E. lamprophyllum. An original key to the identification of Epistephium species reported in Colombia is provided along with information on their ecology, habitat, and geographical range. Epistephium amplexicaule is lectotypified based on Article 9.3 of the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants as this name was published without a holotype.

The marine pelagic tunicates of Family Salpidae Lahille, 1888 presence in the coastal waters of Terengganu was studied for the first time. Samples were collected from April to July 2016 using 200µm Bongo net; hauled vertically from a stationary vessel; and preserved in 5% buffered formaldehyde. A total of 4 species under this family were found, observed and identified: Thalia rhomboides (Quoy and Gaimard 1824); Thalia sibogae (van Soest 1973); Weelia cylindrica (Cuvier 1804) and Brooksia rostrata (Traustedt 1893). All species were identified as new records in Malaysian waters. The description on morphological characteristics and a key to the solitary and aggregate of the recorded species is added. The distribution was analyzed from the 18 sampling stations in theTerengganu waters including Pulau Bidong, Pulau Yu and Pulau Kapas. The collected data was then compiled with previous available global literature on the distribution and occurrence of these four species, consequently updating the biodiversity of Malaysian fauna and its worldwide biogeography distribution.

Based on original data from recent research, numerous new records of the suctorian species living as epibionts on stream-dwelling aquatic beetles (Coleoptera) and water mites (Acari, Hydrachnidia) in the southwestern Palaearctic area are giv-en. The following species are reported for the first time for the national faunas: Setodiscophrya deplanata (Matthes, 1954)(Bosnia and Hercegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey), Discophrya helmidis Matthes, 1954 (Montenegro, Tur-key), Elatodiscophrya hochi (Matthes, 1954) (Bosnia and Hercegovina, Turkey), Periacineta buckei (Kent, 1881) (Mon-tenegro, Greece), Discophrya lichtensteinii (Claparede & Lachmann, 1859) (Turkey, Iran). The characteristics of the suctorians as epibionts of stream-dwelling arthropods are briefly outlined.

Aquatic insects samples were collected from 6 sites along the Greater Zab River in the northern Iraq from Duhok and Erbil governorates over 12 months during September 2016 to August2017, which belong to seven orders (Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, Trichoptera, Odonatan, Diptera, Coleoptera, and Megaloptera). Clustering mitochondrial DNA cytochrome c oxidase and 16S rDNA genes, morphological keys, and matches in the Barcode of Life Database, we identified 24 species return to 7 orders and 12 families, as indicated in the results. The reported species were: Ephemeroptera 5 members of the family Heptageniidae (Maccaffertium meririvulanum, Raptoheptagenia cruentata, Ecdyonurus dispar, Anepeorus rusticus, Stenonema femoratum), 1 Ephemerellidae (Seratella ignita), 1 Arthropleidae (Arthroplea bipunctata), 6 Baetidae (Baetis alpinus, Baetis braaschi, Baetis noa, Baetis harrisoni, Iswaeon anoka, Heterocloeon amplum), 1 member for each of Diptera, Coleoptera, Megaloptera and Odonatan orders, while Plecoptera 2 members Leuctridae (Leuctra hippopoides, Leuctra inermis) and Tricoptera 4 members 3 Hydropsychidae (Leptonema albovirens, Hydropsyche simulans, Arctopsyche irrorate), 1 Hydroptilidae (Ochrotrichia tenuata). Most of these recorded species and genera were mentioned for the first time and represent new records in Iraq. Presence and distribution of identified species varied between studied sites, as a result of differences in biogeographical and physical conditions.

Twenty-six species from various sections of the genus Pluteus have been recorded from Turkey until now. In this study, phylogenetic analyses inferred from the nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (nrITS) were conducted for species delimitation and for comparisons with closely related taxa of Pluteus sect. Hispidoderma in Turkey. Our results show that P. granularis is recorded in Turkey and Europe for the first time, P. granulatus in Turkey for the first time and in Europe for the third time, P. umbrosoides in Turkey for the first time and in the world for the second time, and P. variabilicolor in Turkey for the first time. Also in this study, sequencing data for P. leoninus, P. plautus, P. roseipes, P. semibulbosus and P. umbrosus as well as the above-mentioned new records are presented for the first time from Turkey as a different geographical area. Analyses of the ITS showed that the lowest sequence divergence among in-group taxa was observed between P. semibulbosus and P. aff. semibulbosus 0.010% (SE = 0.004), the next was between P. chrysaegis and P. conizatus var. africanus 0.012% (SE = 0.004). The highest sequence divergence with in-group taxa was found between P. plautus and P. umbrosoides, 0.351% (SE = 0.039). In terms of habitat, Fagus orientalis is recorded as a new host for P. granulatus, P. granularis, P. umbrosoides, and P. umbrosus; Picea orentalis is a new host to P. granularis; Carpinus betulus for P. umbrosus; and the relict endemic Liquidambar orientalis for P. variabilicolor. Finally, this study provides detailed morphological descriptions, macro photographs and microstructure drawings relating to species of Pluteus sect. Hispidoderma from Turkey, which are rare, interesting and noteworthy. An identification key is provided for present species of Pluteus sect. Hispidoderma occurring in the country.

Data on findings of seven species of vascular plants that are new records for the spontaneous flora of the Left Bank Forest-Steppe zone of Ukraine are presented. Four species (Artemisia umbrosa, Sedum album, Ribes aureum, and Prunus tomentosa) are alien plants completely naturalized in the studied area; other three species are treated by author as representatives of the indigenous fraction (Cerastium kioviense, Rhododendron tomentosum, and Vicia lathyroides). Cerastium kioviense and V. lathyroides are considered not rare species in the studied region but rather overlooked by botanists due to their early flowering period. Four species (A. umbrosa, C. kioviense, R. aureum, and P. tomentosa) were for the first time found in Poltava Region, two species (R. aureum, P. tomentosa) – in Kharkiv Region, and one (V. lathyroides) – in Kyiv Region. For all reported species, lists of their localities, places of original descriptions and nomenclatural types are indicated. The species name Prunus tomentosa is lectotypified.

Aquatic insects in Central Patagonia (Andean region), Argentina, have received poor and fragmentary attention. In this paper we present the first preliminary inventory of Plecoptera and Ephemeroptera taxa for the area and include seasonal records of adult stages. We incorporate a set of environmental features for the sampling sites and biotopes as well as the main characteristics of the phytogeographical and biogeographical areas in which the species were found. Twelve species and eight genera of mayflies and eleven species and five genera of stoneflies are recorded for the first time in Chubut province. The stoneflies Neofulla biloba (Aubert), Alfonsoperla flinti McLellan & Zwick, Austronemoura eudoxiae Froehlich, Chilenoperla semitincta Illies, Neonemura illiesi Zwick and Potamoperla testacea Vera, and the mayflies Andesiops ardua (Lugo-Ortiz & McCafferty), Chaquihua bullocki Navás. And the family Oniscigastridae are new records for Argentina. The genera Americabaetis Kluge, Camelobaetidius Demoulin and Traverella Edmunds are confirmed for first time in the Andean region (Central Patagonia province) and four Plecoptera and two Ephemeroptera species constitute new records for the Patagonian steppe. We also include two new records for Ephemeroptera and Plecoptera for the Santa Cruz province. We reinforce the idea that patagonian aquatic environments have a highly specialized and complex insect fauna which can be correlated with biogeographical aspects but also with a great environmental heterogeneity.

Based on published records and original data from recent research, a list is presented of the leeches (Hirudinea) of Montenegro. It includes 29 species and subspecies in 13 genera and 5 families. Numerous new records are reported; Glossiphonia paludosa (Carena, 1824), Helobdella stagnalis (Linnaeus, 1758), Alboglossiphonis hyalina (O. F. Müller, 1774), Alboglossiphonia striata (Apáthy, 1888), Piscicola pawlowskii (Sket, 1968), Piscicola respirans Troschel, 1850, Hirudo verbana Carena, 1820, Erpobdella nigricollis (Brandes, 1900) and Erpobdella vilnensis (Liskiewicz, 1925), are reported for the first time for Montenegro. The characteristics of the leeches fauna in the treated area are briefly outlined.
