Provision of IUPHKm by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) is to improve the people’s economy. Social forestry which was once illegally managed by the people, has now been legalized by the government through the KLHK. This study aims to find out how the impact of the provision of IUPHKm on farmer welfare in Air Naningan Village, Tanggamus Regency. The method used is an exploratory and descriptive method. The analysis used is crosstabulation. The results of this study were that after farmers in Air Naningan Village obtaining IUPHKm, their economy is increasesing as indicatet by : (1) their income increased by an average of 142.73 percent; (2) they are able to buy 1 to 3 units of motorcycles; (3) they have a permanent house.

The attempts were made to assess the impact of vocational training courses conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Punjab on establishing an enterprise. All thirty long duration vocational training courses conducted by the Krishi Vigyan Kendras namely Bathinda, Ferozpur, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur and SBS Nagar from 2009-2013 were taken up for the study. A sample of 140 trainees was drawn by applying probability proportional to size (PPS) sampling method and data were collected personally from the selected trainees by using an interview schedule. The findings of the study revealed that the highest adoption status was achieved by value added household products & preparation and garment construction & enrichment training courses with 1.44 & 1.36 mean scores respectively. The lowest mean score of Management of family resources (0.68) and fabric painting & preparation of household products (0.62) indicated the low adoption status of these training courses. Major reasons for non-establishment of an enterprise after receiving training from KVKs as reported by the highest percentage of trainees were financial constraints and high cost of equipments. It can be concluded that the marketing components and linkages related to establishing an enterprise should be an integral part of the vocational training programme. KVKs should provide suitable facilities in the form of resource centre to their trainees for reducing the cost of initial set up of enterprise.

Jambi Province has implemented rice cultivation technology for food security includes land optimization, improved cropping patterns, provision of superior seeds, appropriate fertilization doses, control of Plant Disturbing Organisms and harvesting. Tanjabtim Regency has implemented rice cultivation technology including rice cultivation twice a year known as GertakTanpaDusta and Planting rice with twice harvests. This Study focused on the application of rice cultivation technology. The success of the application of rice cultivation technology in increasing both of cropping index and rice production requires an evaluation to see its impact, it is necessary to know how much is this technology in increase farmers' income by increasing the farmer welfare. This study aimed to determine the impact of the application of rice cultivation technology on the farmer welfare. This study used the model estimation method is 2SLS, by building 3 structural equations and 1 identity equation. The results showed that the application of rice cultivation technology will improve the farmer welfareas seen from the increase of land area, rice productivity and income of rice farmers.Keyword :Cultivation Technology,Welfare, Farmer AbstrakDalam menciptakan ketahanan pangan pada komoditas padi, maka Provinsi Jambi melakukan penerapan teknologi budidaya padi yang meliputi optimalisasi lahan, perbaikan pola tanam, penyediaan benih unggul, dosis pemupukan yang tepat, pengendalian Organisme Pengganggu Tanaman (OPT) dan pemanenan.

The east coast of Malaysia is frequently hit by monsoon floods every year that severely impact people, particularly those living close to the river bank, which is considered to be the most vulnerable and high-risk areas. We aim to determine the most vulnerable area and understand affected residents of this community who are living in the most sensitive areas caused by flooding events in districts of Temerloh, Pekan, and Kuantan, Pahang. This study involved collecting data for vulnerability index components. A field survey and face-to-face interviews with 602 respondents were conducted 6 months after the floods by using a questionnaire evaluation based on the livelihood vulnerability index (LVI). The findings show that residents in the Temerloh district are at higher risk of flooding damage compared to those living in Pekan and Kuantan. Meanwhile, the contribution factor of LVI-Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) showed that Kuantan is more exposed to the impact of climate change, followed by Temerloh and Pekan. Among all the principal components shown, food components were considered to be the most vulnerable. Meanwhile, water components were categorised as the most invulnerable. Preventive planning involves preserving human life, minimising damage to household products, preserving crops and animals, adequate supply of clean water and food, good health and ensuring financial sustainability as an indication of changing livelihoods, sustainable food-storing systems, and other protective steps to curb damage and injury caused by annual flood strikes. Information generated on LVI assessment and adaptation procedures will help policymakers reduce people’s vulnerability in the face of floods and ensure proper plans are put in place in all relevant areas.

The goal of this research is to characterize the effects of use patterns on the environmental sustainability of consumer products, and to enable decision making throughout design processes that encourages product sustainability. Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) are currently used to evaluate the environmental impact of a product, but there can be considerable uncertainty in these analyses, especially relating to the use phase of the product. To better understand this uncertainty, we conducted environmental impact assessments of 20 household products, and employed two uncertainty quantification approaches to accommodate variation in the use phase of these products. The results from each product were then compared to products with similar attributes to find generalizations. This knowledge was integrated into decision trees so designers can better understand the degree to which use-phase uncertainty can affect quantitative measures of environmental impact before performing LCAs. This work enables designers to make more informed decisions about the intended use and use lifetimes of consumer products, potentially leading to a reduced environmental impact of this life cycle phase.
