Have been obtained 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid (taurine) from ethanolamine, sulfuric acid and sodium sulfite during the synthesis in laboratory condition. The process involves two steps of reactions, the first was esterification of ethanolamine with sulfuric acid to produce the intermediate product of 2-aminoethyl ester which than was extended to the second step by sulfonation with sodium sulfite to produce 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid. Resulting product was analyzed using 1H-NMR, IR, FAB-MS analysis and examined purity characterizations of the synthesized products. This work comprises the synthesis of new thioxanthone derivatives containing C-substituted thioxanthone. To obtain these derivatives, the o-mercapto benzoic acid was chosen as the starting material, which was reacted with dry benzene in sulfuric acid (98 %) to produce the thioxanthone (1). The 2,7-(disulfonyl phosphine imine) thioxanthone (4-8) were prepared from reaction of compound (1) with chlorosulfonic acid gave 2,7-(disulfonyl chloride) thioxanthone (2). Treatment of (2) with sodium azide to produce 2,7-(disulfonyl azide) thioxanthone (3). Condensation of (3) with phosphorus compounds afforded compounds (4-8). The 2,7-(disulfonamide) thioxanthone (9-21) was obtained when compound (2) condensed with different aromatic amines, it gave the expected amides (9-21).

Synthesis and characterization of cellulose acetate (CA) has been conducted. The cellulose used in this study was commecial a-cellulose in 92% content. All the CA products were analyzed by FTIR spectrometers. The determination of cellulose content was done using standart method of TAPPI T-203, while the determination of the degree of substitution (DS) was based on SNI 0444:2009 method. Conventional acetylation of cellulose was performed using gacial acetic acid, anhydride acetic acid, and sulfuric acid. The acetylation at 25 °C for 2.5 hours gave the DS of 1.482 and at 40 °C for 5 hours gave the higher DS 2.295.
