The study on the interaction of DNA-specific low-molecular compounds – groove binding material Hoechst 33258 and intercalating ligand methylene blue (MB) with serum albumin has been carried out. The absorption and differential absorption spectra of complexes of the mentioned ligands with protein were obtained. Changes of the absorption and differential absorption spectra indicate the binding of two ligands with albumin. The obtained results indicate that at the interaction with both ligands, the conformational state of the protein alters, though these changes are not similar, since in the case of MB a compactization of the protein folding occurs, while in the case of Hoechst 33258, most apparently, an unfolding of the compact structure takes place as a result of partial loss of helicity of $\alpha$-structures.

Abstract Electronic absorption spectra are reported for single crystals of composition FexCo1-xCl2 as a function of temperature from 300 K to 4 K. A broad band at 436 nm is assigned to Fe (II) → Co (II) charge transfer and the temperature dependence of its intensity is related to the magnetic exchange between the ions. The 2T1g(2H) excitation of Co (II) in the mixed crystals has an unusual temperature dependence which correlates with the Néel temperature.

[MnO2(1.0mol%) : Tb4O7(0.5mo%)] doped stoichiometric LiNbO3 (Mn:Tb:SLN) single crystals of 0.5~1.0 mm in diameter and 30~35 mm in length were grown by micro pulling down(µ-PD) method. We investigated the photoluminescence (PL) properties of Mn:Tb:SLN single crystal. The OH- absorption band of the single crystals observed infrared the absorption spectra by using an FT-IR spectrophotometer at room temperature. Homogeneous distributions of Mn and Tb concentration were confirmed by the EPMA and observed defects by optical microscopy.
