Industrial Internet of Things practitioners are adopting the concept of digital twins at an accelerating pace. The features of digital twins range from simulation and analysis to real-time sensor data and system integration. Implementation examples of modeling-oriented twins are becoming commonplace in academic literature, but information management-focused twins that combine multiple systems are scarce. This study presents, analyzes, and draws recommendations from building a multi-component digital twin as an industry-university collaboration project and related smaller works. The objective of the studied project was to create a prototype implementation of an industrial digital twin for an overhead crane called “Ilmatar”, serving machine designers and maintainers in their daily tasks. Additionally, related cases focus on enhancing operation. This paper describes two tools, three frameworks, and eight proof-of-concept prototypes related to digital twin development. The experiences show that good-quality Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) are significant enablers for the development of digital twins. Hence, we recommend that traditional industrial companies start building their API portfolios. The experiences in digital twin application development led to the discovery of a novel API-based business network framework that helps organize digital twin data supply chains.

Expert systems (ES) and database systems (DBS) are major components of information systems and important assets to companies. The development of these systems represent users' knowledge in the application systems. As computer technologies evolve, and as users requirements change, there is a need to upgrade these system to meet the new application requirements. To preserve the knowledge of the existing information systems, a methodology for integrating ES and DBS into an expert database system (EDS) is proposed. The integrated EDS is a knowledge based system (KBS) which derives and stores knowledge in a frame model consisting of a class header, attributes, methods and constraints. It extracts the ES rules and DBS data for an application into coupling classes at run time only. The attributes of the coupling classes are matched with synonyms in a synonym table which resolves their naming and semantic conflicts with user assistance in knowledge acquisition. The resultant EDS is a KBS ready for application development.

One example of the growing information technology today is mobile learning, mobile learning which refers to mobile technology as a learning medium. Mobile learning is learning that is unique for each student to access learning materials anywhere, anytime. Mobile learning is suitable as a model of learning for the students to make it easier to get an understanding of a given subject, such as math is pretty complicated and always using formulas.The design method that I use is the case study method, namely, learning, searching and collecting data related to the study. While the development of engineering design software application programs that will be used by the author is the method of Rapid Application Development (RAD), which consists of 4 stages: Requirements Planning Phase, User Design Phase, Construction Phase and Phase Cotuver.

Abstract—The need for information system development in a company is a basic requirement that must be met by each company in order to run its business processes properly.
