Microstrip antenna is an essential choice for Ultra Wide Band (UWB) applications of its light weight, low profile and easy to form antenna arrays. However, the design of microstrip patch antenna bandwidth is greatly affects by the dielectric substrate material (FR4). In this research, the bandwidth enhancement of MPA was designed by minimizing the dimension of Defected GP (DGP) in GP for Ultra Wide Band wireless applications. But, the antenna design complexity increases with the number of an operating frequency band. In this research, the MPA was designed as small as size of 10×13×1.6 mm and operates on frequency band between 3.1GHz to 10.6GHz for VSWR less than 2. The microstrip patch antenna was designed at 3.1GHz to 10.6GHz using High-Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) software. The simulation result shows that the proposed microstrip patch antenna obtained <-10dB of return loss from 3.1GHz to 10.6GHz throughout the frequency range. The measured result proves that the proposed microstrip patch antenna has better characteristics to fulfill the requirements of UWB applications

From this current paper, 3 separate elliptical slotted ultra- wide band (UWB) antennas are being proposed. These antennas have been designed with a standard PCB design process to be capable of integrating with radiofrequency or microwave circuitry. Two designs were presented in which the initial design comprised a half circular ring radiator and the remaining one considers a half elliptical ring radiator. The third design of the radiator is in the shape of a crescent. The impedance bandwidth of all these presented antenna designs varies from 2.5GHz and reaches to 14GHz with a S11 less than -10GHz. Here, every proposed antenna design also has a consistent radiation pattern across its frequency band of interest. The performance of the antenna is impressive for lower band frequency in UWB system, which differs in a range of 3.1GHz to 5.1GHz. Across the whole frequency band the antenna shows a 10db return loss bandwidth. The antenna is fabricated on RT-duroid substrate and fed with 50 Ω coupled tappered transmission line.

This paper presents a planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) for ultra-wide band (UWB) communication, which is printed on a dielectric substrate of FR4-epoxy with 4.4 relative permittivity (ɛr), 2 mm thickness. This antenna is designed to be used in a 2.9–10.7 GHz frequency band, and a very wide bandwidth is realized by the addition of a parasitic element and a J-shaped slot to the PIFA. The effects of varying the parameters of the antenna on the performance have been investigated.

This paper presents a novel resonator that can switch and create three important behaviors within the same antenna using miniaturized capacitors. The resonator was integrated into conventional Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) antenna to achieve UWB and Single/Dual continuously tunable-notch behaviors. The Single/Dual notched was continuously tuned to our desired frequency band by changing the value of the capacitors. The antenna designed and fabricated to validate these behaviors had a compact size of 24 × 30.5 mm2, including the ground plane. The radiation patterns were very clean due to the placement of the proposed resonator in the special ground plane. Moreover, the presented novel resonator and switching technique was compared with the recently proposed resonators and their switching techniques. The prototype for the antenna was also developed in order to validate its performance in wireless vital signs monitoring. The presented miniaturized resonator based antenna was utilized for tumor sensing and simulations were provided in this regard. Moreover, the deployment of the proposed resonator based UWB antenna sensor in Pipeline Integrity Monitoring system was also investigated and discussed.
