Optically transparent single crystals of potassium acid phthalate (KAP, 0.5 g) 0.05 g and 0.1 g (1 and 2 mol %) trytophan were grown in aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique at room temperature. Single crystal X- ray diffraction analysis confirmed the changes in the lattice parameters of the doped crystals. The presence of functional groups in the crystal lattice has been determined qualitatively by FTIR analysis. Optical absorption studies revealed that the doped crystals possess very low absorption in the entire visible region. The dielectric constant has been studied as a function of frequency for the doped crystals. The thermal stability was evaluated by TG-DSC analysis.

Structures of two K2SnX(PO4)3(X=Fe,Yb) phosphates, obtained by conventional solid state reaction techniques at 950 °C, were determined at room temperature by X-ray powder diffraction using Rietveld analysis. The two materials exhibit the langbeinite-type structure (P213 space group, Z=4). Cubic unit cell parameter values are: a=9.9217(4) Å and a=10.1583(4) Å for K2SnFe(PO4)3 and K2SnYb(PO4)3, respectively. Structural refinements show that the two crystallographically independent octahedral sites (of symmetry 3) have a mixed Sn∕X (X=Fe,Yb) population although ordering is stronger in the Yb phase than in the Fe phase.

Abstract Spectroscopically pure PaPc2 has been prepared by reaction between PaI4 · 4 CH3CN and o-phthalic acid dinitrile in 1-chloronaphthalene followed by sublimation at 5 · 10-3 Pa in a temperature profile with three clearly defined zones (520 °C/350 °C/room temperature). This procedure gives a product almost completely free of H2Pc impurity which is known to have been present in previously reported complexes of the type AnPc2. Thus, the trace of H2Pc in the substance could only be detected by derivative spectroscopy. X-ray powder diffraction shows the compound to be isostructural with ThPc2 and UPc2. The ligand spectrum is typical of AnPc2 complexes, f-f Bands observed in a solid state spectrum provide additional proof that the compound is PaIV Pc2.

ABSTRACTWe have studied the damage and strain produced in Ge (100) single crystals by implantation of various doses of 300 keV 28Si ions at room temperature. The analyzing tools were x-ray double-crystal diffractometry, and MeV 4He channeling spectrometry. The damage induced by implantation produces positive strain in Ge (100). The maximum perpendicular strain and maximum defect concentration rise nonlinearly with increasing dose. These quantities are linearly related with a dose-independent coefficient of ∼ 0.013 for Ge (100) single crystals implanted at room temperature. The results are compared with those available for Si (100) self-implantation. We have also monitored the strain and defects generated in pseudomorphic Ge0.1Si0.9/Si (100) films induced by room temperature 28Si ion implantation. It is found that the relationship between the strain and defect concentration induced by ion implantation is no longer a simple linear one.

Single crystals of Ba2K2Te2O9(dibarium dipotassium nonaoxidoditellurate), (I), Ba2KNaTe2O9(dibarium potassium sodium nonaoxidoditellurate), (II), and Ba2CaTeO6(dibarium calcium hexaoxidotellurate), (III), were obtained from KNO3/KI or KNO3/NaNO3flux syntheses in platinum crucibles for (I) and (II), or porcelain crucibles for (III). (I) and (II) are isotypic and are members of triple perovskites with general formulaA2[12co]A′[12co]B2[6o]B′[6o]O9. They crystallize in the 6H-BaTiO3structure family in space-group typeP63/mmc, with theA,A′,BandB′ sites being occupied by K, Ba, Te and a second Ba in (I), and in (II) by mixed-occupied (Ba/K), Ba, Te and Na sites, respectively. (III) adopts theA2[12co]B′[6o]B′′[6o]O6double perovskite structure in space-group typeFm-3m, with Ba, Ca and Te located on theA,B′ andB′′sites, respectively. The current refinement of (III) is based on single-crystal X-ray data. It confirms the previous refinement from X-ray powder diffraction data [Fuet al.(2008).J. Solid State Chem.181, 2523–2529], but with higher precision.

SrBi1.8Ce0.2Nb2O9 (SBCN) and SrBi1.8Ce0.2Ta2O9 (SBCT) powders were prepared via solid-state reaction method. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the SBCN and SBCT powders have the single phase orthorhom-bic Aurivillius structure at room temperature. The contribution of Raman scattering and FTIR spectroscopy of these samples were relatively smooth and resemble each other. The calcined powders were uniaxially pressed and sintered at 1250?C for 8 h to obtaine dense ceramics. Dielectric constant, loss tangent and AC conductivity of the sintered Ce-doped SrBi2Nb2O9 and SrBi2Ta2O9 ceramics were measured by LCR meter. The Ce-doped SBN (SBCN) ceramics have a higher Curie temperature (TC) and dielectric constant at TC (380?C and ?? ~3510) compared to the Ce-doped SBT (SBCT) ceramics (330?C and ?? ~115) when measured at 100Hz. However, the Ce-doped SBT (SBCT) ceramics have lower conductivity and dielectric loss.

Single crystals of Ba2Nb2TeO10) have been prepared by solid state reactions in air. X-ray investigations led to orthorhombic symmetry, space group D152h-Pbca, a = 7.242(4), b = 12.433(3), c = 9.932(3) Å. Z = 4. Nb5+ and Te6+ show octahedral coordination by O2- . The crystal structure is characterized by planes of edge- and corner-sharing NbO6- and TeO6octahedra. It is shown that in spite of nearly identical lattice constants of Ba2Nb2TeO10 with compounds of the composition M0,5BaNbTe2O9 the so far unknown crystals of these substances may not be derived from the Ba2Nb2TeO10 type.
