This research examines the effects of green supply chain (SC) practices including recycling techniques, green logistics (G2), environmental protection trainings and programs, and green manufacturing. A data sample of 339 manufacturing firms was collected from the industrial area of Punjab, Pakistan. By using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), the findings indicated that except GL, the remaining green practices (GP) have significant and positive association with the organizational performance. In addition, GL have insignificant effect on firms’ performance due to government non seriousness, no financial subsidies on green technologies, heavy import duties, scarcity of green technologies/vehicles in Pakistan and that most firms import green vehicles from European and Western countries which incur huge costs into SC system in terms of long lead time. This study will help the policymakers and SC managers to understand the problems and current situation of GSCM in the manufacturing firms of Pakistan. Further, we also discuss research limitations, areas for future research.

Metallic material processing plays a significant role in terms of global environmental impact which contributes to the climate change phenomena that is a serious international environmental concern and the subject of much research and debate. Thus, energy-and resource-efficient strategies in the metal shaping technology domain need to be identified urgently. A frequent theme in the debates that surround waste and resources management is the extent to which the recycling of metallic materials offers genuine benefits to the environment. Solid state recycling techniques allow the manufacture of high density aluminum alloy parts directly from production scrap. In this paper the environmental impacts associated with ‘meltless’ scrap processing routes through hot press forging process with varying parameter has been studied. A comparative analysis has been performed, with different operating temperature and holding time of direct recycling hot press forging process AA6061 aluminum chip. The importance of an environmental performance analysis that included both parameter setting was discussed and highlighted throughout the paper. Finally, the application of the proposed parameter setup has resulted in the setting up of an eco-process. Indeed, LCA study on recycling (solid-state) are recommended as well it gives a noteworthy benefit to the environment and to fill the knowledge gap.

Nowadays, asbestos waste still remains a serious problem. Due to the carcinogenic properties of asbestos, which are related to its fibrous structure, the exposure to asbestos mineral and asbestos-containing materials (ACM) causes dangerous health effects. This problem can be solved by recycling techniques, which allow the re-use of neutralized asbestos waste, instead of disposing it in special landfills. The article presents the results of research aimed at investigating the possibility of obtaining aggregates from asbestos waste by the fusion process in the electric arc-resistance process. A mixture of ACM with selected fluxes was were melted and then cast to form a grain of aggregates. The chemical composition of the material was determined before and after the melting process. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were applied to evaluate the effects of the fusion process. The main properties of the obtained aggregate were also measured. The results confirmed that the fibrous structure of asbestos was destroyed in the obtained material, which can be successfully used for the production of artificial aggregates.

Cold in-place recycling, cold central plant recycling, and full depth reclamation are cost-effective, environmentally conscious pavement rehabilitation or reconstruction techniques. Although these techniques are not new, they have not been widely adopted among state agencies. There has, however, been a recent resurgence in interest in these techniques. To date there are no national specification guidelines for these processes to assist in their widespread implementation, and those specifications that do exist often have a wide range of requirements. This paper presents the results of a review of state and local agency specifications for pavement recycling techniques and offers suggestions to help agencies achieve a better and longer-lasting product when specifying pavement recycling techniques.
