Micro/nano urchin-like VO2 particles were synthesized successfully by hydrothermal method. Vanadium pentoxide (V2O5), oxalic acid (C2H2O4) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) surfactant were used as reagents for the synthesis of VO2. In this article, we have reported the synthesis procedure of VO2 nanorods and micro/nano urchin-like VO2 structure and evaluating the methylene blue (MB) adsorption properties. Morphology and particle size of VO2 were observed by FE-SEM. The phase formation of VO2 was studied by XRD. Raman spectroscopy was also used for characterization of VO2. Micro/nano urchin-like VO2 structure was showed good MB adsorption properties that have potential applications in dye-contaminated water treatments.

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) was grafted on graphene nanosheets (GN) in the reduction of graphene oxide with hydrazine hydrate. The obtained GN-PVA (GP) suspension was treated with the freezing–thawing cycle to fabricate 3D porous monolithic GP materials, which were modified with carbon disulfide to introduce xanthan groups on the wall of porous materials, marked as GPCs. The characterization of GPCs confirmed that PVA was attached on the surface of GNs, and xanthan groups were effectively functionalized on the porous structures, which were composed of randomly oriented GNs. The Pb[Formula: see text] adsorption pattern for GPC materials was investigated. The kinetic adsorption and isotherm data fit the pseudo second-order kinetic and the Langmuir isotherm models, respectively. The maximum adsorption capacity of Pb[Formula: see text] reached 242.7[Formula: see text]mg/g. And GPCs for Pb[Formula: see text] adsorption could be regenerated with ethylenediamine tetracetic acid (EDTA) solution for repetitious adsorption.

The properties of metakaolin-based materials were investigated. The studied materials were prepared by mixing metakaolin and aluminum oxide in alkaline solution. The obtained samples were cast into plastic molds and then left at 27°C for 24 h. The properties of the materials were investigated using XRD, FTIR, and SEM. The obtained results suggested that reaction of the mixed materials occurred. The adsorption properties of the materials, including removal efficiency, distribution coefficient, and uptake capacity were determined. The obtained results revealed that the studied materials exhibited high adsorption capacity, which is good for the adsorbent applications.
