Intertwining Irish history and generations of Irish American family histories in a work of polyphonic electronic literature based on the rhythms of ancient Irish Poetry, the imagined lost Irish Sonata, streams and fountains, and Irish and Irish American song, From Ireland with Letters (2010 - 2016) is an epic electronic manuscript told in the public space of the Internet. Situating the work in the contexts of Irish public literature and of public electronic literature, this paper explores both the work itself and issues of public electronic literature and in the process both divulges little known Irish American histories and suggests the potential for the public literature telling of narrative and poetry on the Internet.

The Internet has often been heralded as a tool for e-governance and public action because of its ubiquity, accessibility, and the ability for users to participate in online expressions of opinion. In this chapter we discuss the potential for the Internet to function as a public space for facilitating civic engagement. While we draw from the seminal work of Jurgen Habermas to identify the preconditions for the functioning of a “public sphere,” we address four distinctly different approaches to the discussion of the Internet’s role as an effective tool for deliberative democracy by highlighting the contributions of scholars and practitioners who engaged in a dialog on the topic at a symposium held at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on March 25, 2010.

The functioning of politicians in the public space is connected with the necessity of building and managing the image, presenting opinions, views, reporting activities and building relations with the electorate in order to mobilise it to electoral activity. The key to success is to reach voters effectively. Among many communication tools available, the importance of the Internet and social media in particular is constantly growing. It takes over other communication channels’ functions and enables direct contact with the voter. However, in order to use the potential of the most popular social media in Poland – Facebook – and effectively manage the image, one needs to know its character and rules governing this environment. Unfortunately, politicians’ knowledge on this subject proves to be rather poor, which translates into the quality of their communication with voters. Research has proved that politicians who know how to use this tool achieve much greater reaches (regardless of the number of those entitled to vote) and build stronger relationships with voters, which translates into the electorate’s behavior during the elections.

The internet and social media expand public space has been much associated with public space and digital networks in many studies, where Habermas's public space theory and the theory of the Castells network society have been much debated about its relevance to the techno-social development. Both Habermas and Castells tend to see the public space of the Internet as a contestation space where corporate and state forces work in various ways to control and dominate it. This study emphasizes more on the creativity of citizens forming community networks through the use of the Internet and social media and conducting autonomous conversations in the public space. Netnographic studies of the dynamics of the discourse of public space in the social movement networked Indonesia Berkebun show that the Internet and social media become creative means for citizens to package global discourse locally to voice their demands. This study concludes that the concepts and theories of public space, network society are relevant as tools for analyzing public space and Internet networks and social media. The potential of the Internet network and social media as autonomous communication spaces depends on the design and purpose and the utilization of available features. Conversations - conversations that are restricted to the agenda of the 3E program help communities focus on discourse and shape the character of a rational Indonesian gardening space. This community from the beginning realized the potential of the Internet and social media to form networks and public spaces. But like gardening, public space requires commitment, such as caring for the garden from pest attacks, weeds, giving it fertilizer so the plants grow as expected.

is article analyzes the phenomena of interdiscursivity, intertextuality, precedent texts and their functions in the websites forum medialect, which could be described as an online space, where specific language usage related to internet communication is manifested. The main purpose is, firstly, to comment on these functions and, secondly, to analyze their relationship to participants’ linguistic behavior established around a specific news media in the public discourse. By presenting specific solutions, the article discusses the categories of intertextuality, interdiscursivity, precedent texts, and medialect. The illustrations for the analysis are taken from predominantly news-oriented online journalistic websites, and the article analyzes the speech behavior of the participants in the comment section medialect. Based on specific examples, the article draws conclusions about the role of the internet media in the use of the three phenomena and of the manifestations of the cooperative and masking functions performed by intertextuality, interdiscursivity and precedent texts included in the linguistic range of the commentators. The roles of the three categories in the formation of thecommunicative act and its outcome are commented in terms of topics that are sensitive for both journalists and the commentators of their articles. These are mainly topics that attract multiple comments due to their significance for a group of users or for the whole society, such as ethnic minorities, migration, corruption, political practices, political actors, etc. Furthermore, they manage to provoke the activity, dexterity, originality of the ones taking part in the communicative acts and thus to create favorable conditions to observe web specific linguistic practices; to track specific language usage and the communicative behavior of the addressers in the public space, observable in the internet media.

Emerging technologies challenge the conceptualization of contemporary urban public space, both in where it is located and of what it consists. With the advent of the digital medium and the internet, the public realm is expanded, dispersed and reconnected in new ways. At the same time, technologies profoundly impact the realization of apparently conventional public spaces, as architects' design process and building materials undergo technological renovations, staged in the digital medium. This paper explores how the public square can be reconceptualized as a place of convergence of the digital and physical domains.

Religion is an omnipresent entity that is present everywhere and anytime. Religion as a system of values and norms became the reference of his people in worship, thinking and acting. The presence of religion in public space can then be understood from this character or trait. Religious presence is not always of value and doctrine or way of life, but is also present through material and visual forms, propagated through the media and all existing instruments. Religion, especially after the invention of the printing press and the internet technology revolution, became a new phenomenon that was represented in various forms. Religious commodities, religious commodities, and religious visualizations in today's technological era are a necara phenomenon. This paper wants to review the new phenomenon of religious visualization that now must be realized began to be an option to be displayed in the public space through what is referred to as visual merchandising. Visualization of religion here can not be separated from the context of religious commodification that has been reviewed by intellectuals and previous research, where religion is regarded as part of a market commodity that can be used as a tool to bring profit. Further religious visualization is not just a commodification, but a new style of religious adherents to affirm the existence of this religion. This paper finds that the visual of the religion that many appear in the public space, whether it is realized or not has become an interesting new phenomenon to be discussed.

The paper discusses the challenges, benefits, and risks of the digitization in public services; argues the internet access right as a fundamental human right and the obligation of a state to provide digital services in the public administration; points out the main tasks of public administration when introducing the principles of good governance; addresses the development of the mentioned principles in the European public space as well at the examples of the Czech Republic. The authors critically describe evaluation methods of digitized public administration and e-Government, including the general model of user acceptance of information technology and benchmarking within the global worldwide information society. The paper highlights practical examples of digitization of the public space in the European Union and in the Czech Republic. The paper concludes with the issues of the state obligation to cover gaps between the legal and economic demand for digitization and provision of digital public services and needs of communities and individuals. The authors use the economic approach to examine legal issues of digitization in public administration. The comparison of the European legislation and Czech national legislation form the primary methodology of the interpretation of the rights of users as well as the obligations of the public administration. Practical examples, figures and tables highlight the argued issues.
