Work is devoted to studying of a linear mode thermodynamic – a mode which is actively investigated now. One of the main concepts of a linear mode – local entropy rate of production. The purpose of given article consists in expansion of a circle of problems for which it is possible to calculate a local entropy rate of production, namely its definition, using the experimental “time-temperature” curves of heating/cooling. “Time-temperature” curves heating or cooling are widely used in non-stationary thermophysical experiments at studying properties of substances and materials: phase transitions of the first and second sort, a thermal capacity, thermal diffusivity. The quantitative substantiation of the formula for calculation of the local entropy rate of production in which it is used thermogram (change of temperature from time) which is received by a method of pulse electric heating is resulted. Initial time dependences of electric capacity and temperature are measured on the sample of niobium in a microsecond range simultaneously. Conformity of two dependences of the local entropy rate of production from time is shown: one is calculated under the known formula in which the brought electric capacity is used; another is calculated, using the thermogram.

Long-term experience of application of a method of electric heating by heating wires of the monolithic concrete and reinforced concrete structures erected in winter conditions is analyzed. This method, developed by the author of the article, took a dominant position on the construction sites due to the simplicity and efficiency in comparison with the mass applied in those years, the method of electric heating of concrete with steel round and strip electrodes. The data on labor intensity, material and energy costs in comparison with the method of rod electric heating are presented. Step-by-step technological operations on preparatory works and electric heating of monolithic structures with the use of extensive hands-on material, which formed the basis for the development of technological regulations, supplemented by a number of new proposals to improve the technology of works, are concretized. In order to work out the optimal mode of heat treatment, the studies of the concrete thermal conductivity factor in the process of its heating and strength development were carried out. The method for calculation of the basic parameters of concrete electric heating is presented. For simplification of calculations, for a wide contingent of masters, superintendents and technical personnel, the nomogram , making it possible with sufficient accuracy under the construction conditions to calculate the necessary heating parameters, was developed. The necessity of grounding the heating wire remaining in the concrete to reduce the harmful effect of magnetic radiation from various appliances and household appliances on the human body is noted.

In power transformers, energy losses in the form of heat are about 2 percent of their rated power, and in transformers of large power centers reach hundreds of kilowatts. Heat is dissipated into the environment and heats the street air. Therefore, there is a need to consume this thermal energy as a source of heat supply to nearby facilities. (Research purpose) To develop methods and means of using excess heat of power transformers with improvement of their cooling system design. (Materials and methods) The authors applied following methods: analysis, synthesis, comparison, monographic, mathematical and others. They analyzed various methods for consuming excess heat from power transformers. They identified suitable heat supply sources among power transformers and potential heat consumers. The authors studied the reasons for the formation of excess heat in power transformers and found ways to conserve this heat to increase the efficiency of its selection. (Results and discussion) The authors developed an improved power transformer cooling system design to combine the functions of voltage transformation and electric heating. They conducted experiments to verify the effectiveness of decisions made. A feasibility study was carried out on the implementation of the developed system using the example of the TMG-1000/10/0.4 power transformer. (Conclusions) The authors got a new way to use the excess heat of power transformers to heat the AIC facilities. It was determined that the improved design of the power transformer and its cooling system using the developed solutions made it possible to maximize the amount of heat taken off without quality loss of voltage transformation.

The Subject

The subject of the study were samples of channel technical carbon K354, furnace technical carbon N121 and experimental – based on TUN121, oxidized with active forms of oxygen. Samples of carbon black were studied in the composition of a rubber mixture based on BK 1675N butyl rubber. The purpose of this study was to determine the possibility of using oxidized technical carbon N121 in fillers of rubber based on butyl rubber, instead of carbon black K354. The physicochemical properties of the samples of technical carbon under study, the results of physical and mechanical tests, and the gas permeability tests of rubber mixtures filled with the samples under study are presented. A conclusion is made about the possibility of replacing channel technical carbon K354 with furnace black carbon N121 oxidized with 30% hydrogen peroxide.

A simulation apparatus for the experimental study of the methods of control of batch reactors is devised. In this apparatus, the production of heat by an exothermic reaction is replaced by electric heating controlled by a computer in a closed loop; the reactor is cooled with an external cooler whose dynamic properties can be varied while keeping the heat exchange area constant. The effect of the cooler geometry on its dynamic properties is investigated and the effect of the cooler inertia on the stability and safety of the on-off temperature control in the unstable pseudostationary state is examined.

Abstract Heat stress (HS) occurs when internal body temperatures are elevated above a thermoneutral zone in response to extreme environmental temperatures. In the U.S. dairy industry, HS results in economic loss due to decreased feed intake, milk quality, and milk yield. Previous work has demonstrated increased plasma urea nitrogen in heat stressed dairy cattle which is thought to originate from increased skeletal muscle proteolysis, however this has not been empirically established. The objective of this investigation was to determine the extent to which HS promotes proteolysis in skeletal muscle of dairy cattle. We hypothesized HS would increase activation of the calpain and proteasome systems in skeletal muscle. To test this hypothesis, following a 3-d acclimation period in individual box stalls, all lactating dairy cows were held under thermoneutral (TN) conditions for 4-d for collection of baseline measures and then exposed to TN or HS conditions for 7-d followed by a biopsy of semitendinosus (n=8/group). To induce HS, cattle were fitted with electric heating blankets, which they wore for the duration of the heating period. This approach increased rectal temperature 1.1°C (P< 0.05), respiratory rate by 33 bpm (P< 0.05), plasma urea nitrogen by 19% (P=0.08) and milk urea nitrogen by 26% (P< 0.05), and decreased dry matter intake by 32% (P< 0.05) and milk production by 26% (P< 0.05) confirming HS. Contrary to our expectations, we discovered that calpain I and II abundance and activation, and calpain activity were similar between groups. Likewise, protein expression of E3 ligases, MafBx and Murf1, were similar between groups as was total ubiquitinated proteins and proteasome activity. Collectively, and counter to our hypothesis, these results suggest skeletal muscle proteolysis is not increased following 7-d of HS. These data question the presumed dogma that increased blood urea nitrogen is due to elevated proteolysis in skeletal muscle.
