Strontium titanate nanowires were electrochemically synthesized with nanoporous alumina template. Both chemical and electrical variables such as electrolyte pH, temperature, and current wave-form were modulated to investigate the synthesis process of SrTiO3 nanowires. Superimposed cathodic pulse and diffusion time accelerated the growth of SrTiO3 nanowires, which suggested that the concentration of H+ and Sr2+ ion inside alumina template had a strong influence on the formation of SrTiO3 nanowires. Morphology and crystallinity of SrTiO3 nanowires were investigated with scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffractometer and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy.

The feasibility of surface nanopatterning with TiO2nanotanks embedded in a nanoporous alumina template was investigated. Self-assembled anodized aluminium oxide (AAO) template, in conjunction with sol gel process, was used to fabricate this nanocomposite object. Through hydrolysis and condensation of the titanium alkoxide, an inorganic TiO2gel was moulded within the nanopore cavities of the alumina template. The nanocomposite object underwent two thermal treatments to stabilize and crystallize the TiO2. The morphology of the nanocomposite object was characterized by Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM). The TiO2nanotanks obtained have cylindrical shapes and are approximately 69 nm in diameter with a tank-to-tank distance of 26 nm. X-ray diffraction analyses performed by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) with selected area electron diffraction (SAED) were used to investigate the TiO2structure. The optical properties were studied using UV-Vis spectroscopy.

We demonstrate the formation of thin film titania (TiO2) with a dense array of nanopores, nanopoles, and nanopipes. The heights of pores, poles, and pipes were approximately 130 nm, 180 nm, and 200 nm, respectively. The aspect ratios of these three structures were approximated between 2 and 3. In order to obtain titania thin films, a nanoporous alumina (Al2O3) template was fabricated by performing a two-step anodization process. The spin-coated titania films were uniformly patterned by a nanoimprinting lithography technique with a textured poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) mold or nanoporous alumina template. The titania films are very useful for solar cells, photocatalytic and sensing applications, in which nano-structuring of surfaces with controlled dimensions is vital.
