Anatase titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TNPs) are synthesized by a simple and cost-effective process with and without freshly water-soluble egg white proteins (albumin) via sol-gel method. The main advantage of using egg white proteins as a gelling agent is that it can provide long-term stability for nanoparticles by preventing particles agglomeration. The X-ray diffraction and FTIR results indicate that the synthesized nanoparticles have only the anatase structure without the presence of any other phase impurities. Additionally, the TNPs are characterized by a number of techniques such as thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and ultraviolet visible spectra (UV-vis). The sizes of titanium dioxide nanoparticles with and without using egg white solution are12.55±3.42 nm and21.45±4.21 nm, respectively. The results indicate that egg white solution is a reliable and cheap green gelling agent that can be used as a matrix in the sol-gel method to synthesis tiny size TNPs.

A novel titanium dioxide （TiO2） nanoparticles coated carbon nanotubes (CNTs) composites were prepared by sol-gel method as microwave absorbing materials in this paper. SEM and XRD researches show that sol-gel method can realize uniform coating of CNTs with TiO2. Among them, with the weight fraction of TiO2/ CNTs composites was 10%, microwave absorption characteristics with a minimum RL value of -34 dB at 6.2 GHz on a coating with a matching thickness of 4mm and <−10 dB was obtained in the frequency range of 4.5-18 GHz with the thickness of 1.5-5.0mm.

In this research, preparation of titanium dioxide nanomaterial (TiO2) using sol-gel method was achieved. 2.5 g weight of the titanium dioxide nanoparticles were added to the local paint using the casting method. Thin films were prepared by drop casting the paint onto the surface of pre-prepared samples, then several tests were carried out including adhesion test, hardness test (Shore B), brightness and whiteness, friction test, contact angle, and antibacterial activity. The nanomaterial at a percentage of 12% showed the best results when it was added to the paint. These results include adhesion strength, hardness strength, and exposing to weather conditions of temperature, and humidity. The adhesive strength increased when adding the nanomaterial from 112 to 139 before exposure to the weather and from 58 to 108 after exposure. The hardness also increased from 77.9 to 86.5 before exposure to the surrounding environment and from 94.2 to 96.8 after exposure. In addition, the paint with TiO2 nanoparticles exhibited antibacterial activity against two types of bacteria Escherichia coli (E. coli), staphylococcus aurous (S. aurous) and antifungal candida. Paint with TiO2 nanoparticles is more efficient as antibacterial agents with E. coli as compared with S. aurous and candida.

In this work optical properties of titanium dioxide nanoparticles were studied. Titanium dioxide nanoparticles were synthesized by the sol-gel method followed by a hydrothermal treatment using tetraisopropyl orthotitanate (TIOT) and 2-propanol. The synthesized samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV/DRS) and nitrogen adsorption-desorption methods. The bandgap energy was obtained using the Kubelka-Munk reemission function. The catalyst synthesized with a molar ratio of R1 (water/TIOT) = 3.5 and R2 (2-propanol/TIOT) = 15 has a predominately anatase phase. It also has a high photo degradation of methyl orange compared to TiO2 Degussa P-25. A shift band gap energy of 3.27 was observed

Anatase titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2-NPs) were synthesized by sol-gel method using rice straw as a soft biotemplate. Rice straw, as a lignocellulosic waste material, is a biomass feedstock which is globally produced in high rate and could be utilized in an innovative approach to manufacture a value-added product. Rice straw as a reliable biotemplate has been used in the sol-gel method to synthesize ultrasmall sizes of TiO2-NPs with high potential application in photocatalysis. The physicochemical properties of titanium dioxide nanoparticles were investigated by a number of techniques such as X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), ultraviolet visible spectra (UV-Vis), and surface area and pore size analysis. All results consensually confirmed that particle sizes of synthesized titanium dioxide were template-dependent, representing decrease in the nanoparticles sizes with increase of biotemplate concentration. Titanium dioxide nanoparticles as small as 13.0 ± 3.3 nm were obtained under our experimental conditions. Additionally, surface area and porosity of synthesized TiO2-NPs have been enhanced by increasing rice straw amount which results in surface modification of nanoparticles and potential application in photocatalysis.

In this paper, we report the synthesis of a highly photocatalytic titanium dioxide nanoparticles bondedwith azobenzene and cotton by simple sol-gel method. The synthesized azobenzene based titania nanoparticles coated cotton fibers were characterized using UV-visible and SEM and reported their antimicrobial activity. It was observed that the presence of titanium dioxide bonded with azobenzene effectively prevents both the cotton fibers from getting contaminated.
