Curd, Paneer and Cheese are rich source of milk protein, calcium, Vitamin A, Phosphorous, vitamins, minerals and protein which are required by the body in high proportions for healthy growth and development. It is common food in India. Cheese is also a rich source of fat. Curd, Paneer and Cheese can be correlated with Dadhi, Paneer and Cheese in Ayurveda classics which are listed in Nitya Asevaniya Ahara Dravya (food items not to be taken in daily diet). Present study aims to explain rationale behind description of these food items as Nitya Asevaniya Ahara Dravya.

Background: Adequate nutrition is required for growth and development in children. This study tested the effectiveness of nutrition education on knowledge and BMI-for-age (BFA) of school-aged children in the Kumasi Metropolis. Methods: Children, aged 9-13 years old were recruited from ten randomly selected primary schools in the Metropolis. The schools were randomly allocated into 3 groups: nutrition education (3 schools), physical activity (PA) education (3 schools), both interventions (2 schools), or control (2 schools). Following a baseline nutrition and PA knowledge and status assess- ment in 433 children, twice-monthly nutrition and PA education and demonstrations were carried out for 6 months, followed by a post-intervention assessment. Results: PA and nutrition knowledge improved in all groups (P<0.001); the highest improvement was among those who received both interventions (31.0%), followed by the nutrition education group (29.8%), and the least, the control group (19.1%). Overall, BFA improved by +0.36, from baseline (-0.26) to end of the intervention (+0.10, P<0.001). Within the groups, the nutrition group (+0.65, P<.001) had the highest improvement, then, both the intervention group (+0.27, P<0.001), the PA group (+0.23, P<0.001) and lastly, the control group (+0.18, P=0.001). Conclusion: Nutrition education could improve knowledge and BMI-for-age in school-aged children in Ghana. This chapter provides an overview of the difficulties facing LGBTQ+ youth in schools and their barriers to healthy psychosocial development. The risk and resiliency model is applied to these challenges, and specific risk factors and resiliency factors are explored. The focus is on means to foster healthy growth and development in sexual minority students through developing school-based programs and practices that have been proven to increase resiliency. The chapter provides specific strategies for school-based mental health professionals to use to increase resiliency in sexual minority youth through the application of school-wide policies and practices. Strategies for making such systemic changes and garnering support are also presented.

The ‘first 1000 days of life’, covering conception to age two, is recognised as a critical period for the growth and development of young children. Evidence suggests that good nutrition in early life can help adults become taller, stronger, healthier, and more intelligent and, thus, more economically productive, with many benefits for the next generation as well. The concept of a ‘window of opportunity’ is essential for designing intervention strategies. However, how to promote healthy growth in the first 2–3 years, without provoking excess weight gain and adiposity, is a major challenge to public health policymakers. This chapter addresses the global burden of childhood under and over-nutrition, highlighting the main public health interventions for improving child nutrition.

ABSTRACT Growth monitoring and promotion (GMP) programs have been implemented worldwide for decades. Consistent evidence of their effectiveness is lacking and complicated by design and operational differences. Nevertheless, tracking child growth and development is a fundamental component of routine preventive child health care, and governments in 178 countries implement some form of GMP. This article makes the point that despite implementation challenges, there is a compelling need for GMP. It enables a crucial dialogue with families and communities about how to support the healthy growth and development of their children and can be a powerful tool for stimulating action and accountability for child nutrition and development at household, community, subnational, and national levels. We propose that GMP deserves a fresh rethink, with a paradigm shift that tailors GMP programs and activities for different development, geographic, and cultural contexts and considers how to optimize implementation for scalability.
