Complexes containing 1,3,5-tris-(8-hydroxyquinolino)-trichlorocyclotriphosphazatriene, a new cyclophosphazene ligand, and Co(II), Cu(II) and Ni(II) were prepared. The new complexes, having the general formula [MLCl2], [ML2]Cl2, (M=Cu, Co, Ni); [NiLAc], [NiL2Ac]Ac and [ML3]X3 (M=Ni, Co, X=Cl, Ac) were characterised by elemental analysis, electronic-, IR spectroscopy, and electrical conductivity measurements. Some of them inhibited the growth of several fungi species (Aspergillus and Candida spp.)

Abstract A new series of Co(II), Fe(II), Cu(II) and Ni(II) complexes of Bis–(4-benzylidenamino-phenyl)-methane (L) have been prepared and characterized. The complexes conform to general formula [CoL(H2O)3] Cl2, [FeL(H2O)5]SO4.2H2O, [CuL(H2O)5] NO3 and [NiL(H2O)3Cl2], Infra red spectra and elemental analysis reveal uni-dentate coordination of Schiff base to metal ions. Molar conductivity measurements show that complexes (I, III) behave as 2:1 electrolyte while complex (II) behave as 1:1 electrolyte. The thermal studies for complexes shows that the complexes are thermal stable.

Complexes containing five 4,5-disubstituted-3-mercapto-1,2,4-triazoles and Zn(II), Hg(II) and Cu(I) were synthesized and characterized by standard procedures (elemental analysis; IR, electronic and NMR spectroscopy, conductimetry and TG analysis). Both the thione as well as the thiolate forms of the ligands were evidenced to interact with the metal ions in the prepared complexes. The original mercaptans and their metal complexes behave as inhibitors of three carbonic anhydrase (CA) isozymes, CA I, II and IV, but did not lower intraocular pressure in rabbits in animal models of glaucoma.

Metal complexes of the title ligand (L) containing Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) were prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, electronic spectroscopy and conductimetry. The new derivatives, possessing the following formulae, CuL2(OH)2, NiL2Cl2, and [Co2LCl4]n showed in vitro antifungal activity against Aspergillus and Candida spp.

Dihydrido-iridium(III) complexes of the general formula IrH2(aa)(PPh3)2 (aa = L-alaninate, L-valinate, L-prolinate and L-phenylalaninate, 1 - 4 ) have been synthesized. Reactions of 1 - 3 with phenylacetylene give the hydrido-di(phenylethynyl) complex IrH(C≡CPh)2(PPh3)3 (5). The latter compound is also formed from IrH3(PPh3)3 and phenylacetylene. All complexes have been characterized by NMR (1H, 13C, 31P) and IR spectroscopy.

4H-3λ2-Thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidin-4-one derivatives are of interest as biologically active compounds. In this communication, 2-(chloromethyl)-4H-3λ2-thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidin-4-one (1) was investigated in the reaction with ammonia, potassium phthalimide, and other basic agents. The dimerization product—8,18-dithia-1,4,11,14-tetrazapentacyclo[11.7.0.03,11.05,9.015,19]icosa-3,5(9),6,13,15(19),16-hexaene-10,20-dione was formed in the reaction with potassium phthalimide in DMF, by heating at 110 °C for 5 h. The structure of the newly synthesized compound was established by means of elemental analysis, high resolution mass-spectrometry, 1H, 13C NMR, and IR spectroscopy, and mass-spectrometry.

Complexes containing the anions of 5-benzoylamido-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-sulfonamide and 5-(3-nitro-benzoylamido)-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-sulfonamid as ligands, and V(IV); Cr(III); Fe(III); Co(II); Ni(II); Cu(II) and Ag(I) were synthesized and characterized by standard procedures (elemental analysis; IR, electronic, and EPR spectroscopy; TG, magnetic and conductimetric measurements). The original sulfonamides and their metal complexes are strong inhibitors of two carbonic anhydrase (CA) isozymes, CA I and II.

New metal complexes of some transition metal ions Co(II), Cu(II) , Cd(II) and Zn(II) were prepared by their reaction with previously prepared ligands HLI= (P-methyl anilino) phenyl acetonitrile and HLII = (P-methyl anilino) –P– chloro phenyl acetonitrile . The two ligands were prepared by Strecker’s procedure which includ the reaction of p- toluidine with benzaldehyde and P- chlorobenzaldehyde respectively. Structures were proposed depending on atomic absorption , i.r. and u.v.visible spectra in addition to magnetic susceptibility and electrical conductivity measurements.

The title compound was prepared by an improved variant of the literature procedure, and metal complexes containing its anion and the following metal ions: Zn(II), Cd(II), Hg(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), V(IV), Fe(III) and Ag(I) were synthesized and characterized by standard procedures (elemental analysis; IR, electronic, NMR and EPR spectroscopy; TG, magnetic and conductimetric measurements). The parent sulfonamide and its metal complexes are potent inhibitors of two carbonic anhydrase (CA) isozymes, CA I and II, and they might possess applications as selective cerebrovasodilating agents.

Synthesis and characterization of a newN"-[(1Z,2E)-2- (Hydroxyimino)-1-phenylpropylidene]-N"'-[(1E)-phenylmethylene]thiocarbonohydrazide and its metal complexes with Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) metal ions. The ligand synthesis and characterization is reported for first time. The complexes of divalent metal ions were synthesized in 1:2 molar proportion using ethanol as solvent. The ligands as well as its metal complexes were characterized using various physicochemical techniques such as elemental analysis, spectral and magnetic measurements and electrical conductivity measurements in case of the metal complexes only. The data for the metal complexes reveals that they may be represented by ML2. The metal complexes show interesting features of coordination structure.
