Titanium(IV) complexes of type[(η5-C5H5)2TiCl(L)] have been synthesized by the reactions of bis(cyclopentadienyl)titanium(IV)dichloride with Schiff bases (LH) derived by the condensation of 5-(substituted aryl)-2-hydrazino-1,3,4-oxadiazole and indoline-2,3-dione in tetrahydrofuranin the presence oftriethylamine. All these complexes are soluble in PhNO2, DMF and DMSO.The complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, electrical conductance, magnetic susceptibility, UV-Vis, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, XRD and SEM spectral techniques. Low molar conductance values indicate that they are non-electrolytes. The spectral data indicate5-coordinate geometry for the complexes.XRD pattern indicate that the complexes have monoclinic crystal system and particle sizes were found 49.36 nm (nano-size). In vitro antifungal activity of synthesized compounds was evaluated against fungi Aspergillusniger, Aspergillusflavus,ColletotrichumfalcatumandIn vitro antibacterial activity was determined by screening the compounds against gram negative (P. aeruginosa, S.typhi) and gram positive (S. aureus and B.subtilis) bacterial strains using minimum inhibition concentration method (MIC) by serial dilution technique. The titanocene(IV) complexes have higher antimicrobial effect than the parent Schiff bases.

In this work we describe the synthesis of some novel fused imidazo [2, 1-b] [1, 3] thiazole derivatives. The reaction of 1, 2-diaminoethane 1 with carbon disulphide in H2O/ETOH as solvent furnishes 4, 5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-thiol 2 under reflux condition. the reaction of 4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-thiol on treatment with ethylchloro acetate and aromatic aldehyde in presence of anhydrous sodium acetate and acetic acid as solvent to give (Z)-2-(arylidene)-5,6-dihydroimidazo [2,1-b] [1,3] thiazol-3(2H)-one 3a-j. Compounds 3a-j was condensed with hydroxylamine to give 3-(aryl)-2, 3, 6, 7-tetrahydroimidazo [2, 1-b] [1,3] thiazolo [5, 4-d] isoxazole 4a-j. The structures of the new compounds were established by elemental analyses, IR,1H NMR and13C NMR data.

A new Mannich baseN-[morpholino(phenyl)methyl]acetamide (MBA), was synthesized and characterized by spectral studies. Chelates of MBA with cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) ions were prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR and UV spectral studies. MBA was found to act as a bidentate ligand, bonding through the carbonyl oxygen of acetamide group and CNC nitrogen of morpholine moiety in all the complexes. Based on the magnetic moment values and UV-Visible spectral data, tetracoordinate geometry for nitrato complexes and hexacoordinate geometry for sulphato complexes were assigned. The antimicrobial studies show that the Co(II) nitrato complex is more active than the other complexes.

A series of octahedral Ru(III), Rh(III) and Ir(III) complexes have been prepared with tetradentate Schiff bases derived by condensing isatin with 1,2-diaminoethane, 1,3-diaminopropane, 1,4-diaminobutane, 1,2-diaminobenzene and 1,3-diaminobenzene. The obtained complexes were characterized on the basis of their elemental analyses, magnetic moment, conductance, IR electronic, 1HNMR and FAB mass spectra, as well as thermal analyses. The Ru(III) complexes are low spin paramagnetic, while Rh(III) and Ir(III) behave as diamagnetic complexes. The IR spectral data revealed that all the Schiff bases behave as tetradentate and are coordinated to Ru(III), Rh(III) and Ir(III) via nitrogen and oxygen. Antifungal studies of the ligands as well as their complexes were carried out by the agar plate method.

The structures of the compounds [Rh(bpy)2(py)(Cl)](ClO4 )2 (2 (ClO4 )2) and [Rh(phen)2(py)- (Cl)](ClO4 )2 (7 -(ClO4 )2) were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Both complexes show a six-coordinate rhodium atom with two bpy or phen ligands in the cis configuration. The Rh-Cl distances are 2.334(3) and 2.323(2) Å, respectively. The bond angles N-Rh-Cl formed with the axially-positioned nitrogen atom are 174.4(2) and 173.8(2)°. The oxidation of aquo complexes, prepared from the corresponding rhodium chloride complexes, by two equivalents of Ce(IV) in 60% HCIO4 solution yields the corresponding mono-oxo products. All complexes have been identified and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, and 1H NMR data

An EtOH solution of 3-ketobutanehydrazide and salicylhydrazide on refluxing in equimolar ratio forms the corresponding Schiff base, LH3(1). The latter reacts with Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Zr(OH)2(IV), MoO2(VI), and UO2(VI) ions in equimolar ratio and forms the corresponding coordination compounds, [M(LH)(MeOH)3] (2, M = Mn, Co, Ni), [Cu(LH)]2(3), [M′(LH)(MeOH)] (4, M′ = Zn, Cd), [Zr(OH)2(LH)(MeOH)2] (5), [MoO2(LH)(MeOH)] (6), and [UO2(LH)(MeOH)] (7). The coordination compounds have been characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, molar conductance, spectral (IR, reflectance,1H NMR, ESR) studies, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. They are nonelectrolytes in DMSO. The coordination compounds, except3, are monomers in diphenyl. They are active against gram-positive bacteria (S. aureus, B. subtilis), gram-negative bacteria (E. coli, P. aeruginosa), and yeast (S. cerevisiae, C. albicans).1acts as a dibasic tridentate ONO donor ligand in2–7coordinating through its both enolic O and azomethine N atoms. The coordination compounds2and3are paramagnetic, while rest of the compounds are diamagnetic. A square-planar structure to3, a tetrahedral structure to4, an octahedral structure to2,6, and7, and a pentagonal bipyramidal structure to5are proposed.
