Objective. To compare the orthodontic bracket debonding force and assess the bracket failure pattern clinically between different teeth by a validated prototype debonding device. Materials and Method. Thirteen (13) patients at the end of comprehensive fixed orthodontic treatment, awaiting for bracket removal, were selected from the list. A total of 260 brackets from the central incisor to the second premolar in both jaws were debonded by a single clinician using a validated prototype debonding device equipped with a force sensitive resistor (FSR). Mean bracket debonding forces were specified to ten (10) groups of teeth. Following debonding, Intraoral microphotographs of the teeth were taken by the same clinician to assess the bracket failure pattern using a 4-point scale of adhesive remnant index (ARI). Statistical analysis included one-way ANOVA with post hoc Tukey HSD and independent sample t -test to compare in vivo bracket debonding force, Cohen’s kappa ( κ ), and a nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis test for the reliability and the assessment of ARI scoring. Results. A significant difference ( p < 0.001 ) of mean debonding force was found between different types of teeth in vivo. Clinically, ARI scores were not significantly different ( p = 0.921 ) between different groups, but overall higher scores were predominant. Conclusion. Bracket debonding force should be measured on the same tooth from the same arch as the significant difference of mean debonding force exists between similar teeth of the upper and lower arches. The insignificant bracket failure pattern with higher ARI scores confirms less enamel damage irrespective of tooth types.

The parents of children with dyslexia often experience more parenting stress and depressive symptoms compared to other parents. Studies have shown that supporting and encouraging such parents help in reducing their frustrations, fear, anger, and low self-esteem towards their children. The purpose of this study was to identify and examine the different types of support needed by the parents of children with dyslexia and to explore the relationships between the required support with the parents’ marital status. Fifty questionnaires were distributed to the parents of children with dyslexia and analyzed. The findings showed that the type of support needed for parents of children with dyslexia could be grouped into social, peer-to-peer, financial, and government support. Furthermore, the analysis indicated that there were no significant differences between the social (p = 0.4014), peer-to-peer (p = 0.5020), and government (p = 0.7121) support with parents’ marital status. However, based on one-way ANOVA analysis, there was a significant difference found between the parents’ marital status and financial support (p = 0.0241). Accordingly, it is anticipated that the implication of this research could be used as a guide and a reference for supporting and encouraging parents of children with dyslexia and other learning disabilities.

This study reports the findings of an anonymous web-based survey to test differences in symptom presentation (depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder [PTSD]) among women who experienced different types of sexual trauma (forcible, pressured, sex stress). The study used a descriptive cross-sectional design with an online convenience sample of 243 adult females living primarily in the United States. The findings revealed that there was a statistically significant difference among type of sexual trauma groups for depression (p = .013) and PTSD (p = .044) but not for anxiety (p = .183). Post hoc analysis of the overall difference in depression revealed that the multiple rape type group (p = .010) and the forcible sex group (p = .016) had higher levels of depression.

Purpose. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of the type and thickness of the zirconia material on the microhardness of the underlying dual-cure resin cement. Materials and Methods. Eight disk-shaped zirconia specimens with a 4-mm diameter and four varying thicknesses (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 mm) were fabricated from two different monolithic zirconia materials: posterior monolithic zirconia (Prettau) and anterior monolithic zirconia (Prettau Anterior). Dual-cure resin cement specimens with a 4-mm diameter and 5-mm height were prepared using Teflon cylinder molds and activated by light beneath the eight zirconia disks and without any zirconia disk for 20 s (n=12). A total of 108 specimens were embedded in acrylic. Vickers hardness of each specimen was measured at three different depths using a microhardness device with a 50-g load. All data were statistically evaluated using three-way ANOVA, one-way ANOVA, independent samples t-tests, and Bonferroni corrected post hoc tests (α=.05). Results. Dual-cure resin cement’s microhardness was significantly higher for the samples polymerized beneath anterior monolithic zirconia compared to posterior monolithic zirconia. The hardness decreased as the thickness increased for both types of zirconia; the latter was attributed to an attenuated curing efficiency. Conclusion. Microhardness of the dual-cure resin cement is influenced by both the type and the thickness of the monolithic zirconia restoration. Polymerization efficiency for resin cement cured under anterior monolithic zirconia may be superior to cured beneath posterior monolithic zirconia.

Swallowing of amniotic fluid alters the volume of the fetal stomach; therefore an abnormal fetal stomach size can be indicative of pathology. Previous studies have used linear measurements on ultrasound to approximate stomach sizes. Fetal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) allows for volumetric measurement of the stomach. The objective of this study was to develop a library of normal fetal stomach volumes on MRI at each gestational age. We also sought to measure stomach volumes of fetuses with esophageal atresia and compare to normal volumes at similar gestation ages (GA).  A retrospective review of fetal MRIs from patients 20-38 weeks GA was conducted.  Exclusion criteria for the controls included any impairment that would impede swallowing or alter stomach sizes.  Patients with esophageal atresia were identified and postnatal records were reviewed to confirm the diagnosis. The stomach volume was measured on T2-weighted imaging using Phillips Intellispace software. The stomach volumes of the controls at each GA were compared using one-way ANOVA with Games-Howell Post-Hoc (p<0.05).  The stomach volume in esophageal atresia was compared to controls using a T-test (p<0.001).    185 control studies, 10 at each week of gestation, and 8 patients with esophageal atresia were included. For normal fetuses, there was a trend of increased stomach size and broadened standard deviation with increasing GA.  No significant difference was found between any two sequential weeks, however the difference in second and third trimester volumes was significant (p<0.001).   The patients with esophageal atresia had significantly smaller stomach volumes compared to control patients of the same GA range (p<0.001).   This pilot study established reference values for fetal stomach volume, which was found to increase with GA. The stomach volume is significantly smaller in patients with esophageal atresia.  Thus, esophageal atresia can be identified prenatally, allowing for delivery at an appropriate acuity NICU and early intervention.

Pemanfaatan sarana kontrasepsi pria dengan memanfaatkan bahan alami berasal dari tanaman sudah banyak dilakukan. Tetapi pemanfaatan biji kedelai sebagai salah satu tanaman suku Leguminoceae belum pernah dilakukan. Biji kedelai mengandung senyawa genistein, sebagai salah satu senyawa derivat isoflavon mempuyai struktur kimia mirip dengan 17β-estradiol bersifat seperti hormon steroid estrogen, mampu menyebabkan kerusakan pada sistem reproduksi jantan. Penelitian bertujuan menguji pengaruh genistein terhadap histopatologi tubulus seminiferus testis mencit jantan (Mus musculus). Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan eksperimental, yang rancangannya mengikuti rancangan acak lengkap. Variabel bebas adalah dosis genistein 0 mg/g, 0,0035 mg/g, 0,0042 mg/g, dan 0,0049 mg/g. Variabel terikat adalah sel-sel germinal tubulus seminiferus testis. Data rerata jumlah sel-sel germinal dianalisis menggunakan Analisis Varians Satu Arah (One Way ANOVA) dengan tingkat signifikansi 95% (α 5%) dilakukan uji Post Hoc dengan Least Significant Difference (LSD) α 5%. Perubahan pada jaringan testis dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada pengaruh pemberian genistein terhadap rerata jumlah sel-sel germinal dan menyebabkan penghambatan proliferasi sel-sel germinal dalam tubulus seminiferus testis.

Pendahuluan: Chitosan merupakan bahan alami, bersifat antibakteri, dan dapat dibentuk menjadi gel sehingga berpotensi sebagai agen profilaksis terhadap Streptococcus mutans, penyebab demineralisasi email. Lesi white spot merupakan salah satu risiko penggunaan alat ortodonti cekat. Berat molekul merupakan salah satu faktor yang memengaruhi efektivitas antibakteri chitosan, namun hubungannya masih memberikan hasil yang inkonsisten. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis perbedaan efektivitas gel chitosan dengan berat molekul berbeda terhadap jumlah koloni bakteri Streptococcus mutans pada permukaan email sekitar braket ortodonti. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen laboratoy dengan menggunakan 24 sampel gigi dengan braket dioles gel chitosan A (50-80 kDa),  gel chitosan B (50-150 kDa), gel chitosan C (190-310 kDa), dan gel kontrol klorheksidin diglukonat 0,2% (CHX) masing-masing 6 sampel. Seluruh sampel diinkubasi dalam biakan Streptococcus mutans secara bertahap, 10 μl suspensi dari plak yang terbentuk pada sampel dibiakkan untuk memperoleh koloni pada biakan agar. Data dianalisis dengan uji one-way ANOVA dan Least Significant Difference (LSD).  Hasil: Jumlah koloni bakteri Streptococcus mutans setelah aplikasi gel chitosan A, B, C, dan gel klorheksidin diglukonat 0,2% (CHX) didapatkan sebesar 10,05x106 CFU/ml; 9,72x106 CFU/ml; 10,96x106 CFU/ml; dan 4,35x106 CFU/ml sehingga tidak terdapat perbedaan bermakna jumlah koloni bakteri Streptococcus mutans antara ketiga kelompok gel chitosan (p>0,05) dan terdapat perbedaan jumlah koloni bakteri Streptococcus mutans yang bermakna antara ketiga gel chitosan dengan gel kontrol (p<0,05). Simpulan: Efektivitas antibakteri gel chitosan dengan berat molekul berbeda terhadap jumlah koloni bakteri Streptococcus mutans pada permukaan email sekitar braket ortodonti adalah sama besar, namun lebih rendah daripada efektivitas antibakteri gel klorheksidin diglukonat 0,2% pada studi ini.Kata kunci: berat molekul; braket ortodontik; kitosan; email; Streptococcus mutans  ABSTRACTIntroduction: Chitosan is a natural ingredient, antibacterial, and can be formed into a gel so that it has the potential as a prophylactic agent against Streptococcus mutans, the cause of enamel demineralization. White spot lesions are one of the risks of using fixed orthodontic appliances. Molecular weight is one factor that affects the antibacterial effectiveness of chitosan, but the relationship still gives inconsistent results. This study aimed to analyze the differences in the effectiveness of chitosan gels with different molecular weights on the number of Streptococcus mutans bacteria colonies on the enamel surface around orthodontic brackets. Methods: This study used an experimental laboratory method using 24 dental samples with brackets smeared with chitosan A gel (50-80 kDa), chitosan B gel (50-150 kDa), chitosan C gel (190-310 kDa), and chlorhexidine control gel. digluconate 0.2% (CHX) each of 6 samples. All samples were incubated in Streptococcus mutans culture in stages, 10 l suspension of the plaque formed on the samples was cultured to obtain colonies on agar cultures. Data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA and Least Significant Difference (LSD). Results: The number of Streptococcus mutans colonies after application of chitosan gel A, B, C, and 0.2% chlorhexidine digluconate (CHX) gel was 10.05x106 CFU/ml; 9.72x106 CFU/ml; 10.96x106 CFU/ml; and 4.35x106 CFU/ml, so that there was no significant difference in the number of Streptococcus mutans colonies between the three chitosan gel groups (p>0.05) and there was a significant difference in the number of Streptococcus mutans bacteria colonies between the three chitosan gels and the control gel (p<0.05). Conclusions: The antibacterial effectiveness of chitosan gel with different molecular weights on the number of Streptococcus mutans bacterial colonies on the enamel surface around orthodontic brackets was simi-lar but lower than the antibacterial effectiveness of 0.2% chlorhexidine digluconate gel.Keywords: molecular weight; orthodontic bracket; chitosan; enamel; Streptococcus mutans

Background: Caries is a disease that occurs because of the fermentation carbohydrates process by microorganisms in the oral cavity. One of the bacteria that causes caries is Streptococcus sanguinis. These bacteria will colonize on the tooth surface, then form dental plaques and contribute to the causes of caries and other periodontal diseases. Kasturi leaf extract (Mangifera casturi) has various compounds such as tannins, terpenoids, alkaloids, and flavonoids that have antimicrobial substances. Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine antibacterial effectivity of kasturi leaf extract (Mangifera casturi) against the growth of Streptococcus sanguinis bacteria. Method: This research was an experimental method laboratory (true experimental), with a randomized pre test and post test with control group design using 5 treatments: kasturi leaf extract (concentration: 20 mg/ml, 25 mg/ml, and 30 mg/ml); and two groups of control: positive control and negative control. Each treatment was repeated 5 times. Antibacterial activity testing used a liquid dilution method. Measurement of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) used a Uv-Vis Spectrophotometer and measurement of the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) used a colony counter. The MIC data were analyzed using One Way Anova and continued with the Dunnet Post Hoc test. MBC data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test and continued with the Mann-Whitney Post Hoc test. Result: One-Way Anova test showed that MIC had a significant difference, and the Kruskal-Wallis test showed that MBC also had significant differences. MIC was obtained at the concentration of 20 mg/ml and MBC was obtained at the concentration of 30 mg / ml. Conclusion: There is antibacterial effectiveness in kasturi leaf extract (Mangifera casturi) against the growth of Streptococcus sanguinis.

Objective:To investigate the effects of allogenic adipose-derived stem cell (ADSC) transplantation on urethral tissue regeneration after vaginal distension in a rat model.Material & Method:32 female wistar rats underwent vaginal distension (VD) for 4 h. Subsequently, PKH-labeled ADSCs (2 x 105 in 200 µl PBS, ADSC group, n = 18) or PBS (200 µl, placebo group, n = 18) were injected into periurethral tissue. Two and four weeks following transplantation (ADSC or PBS), voiding behavior (frequency) and muscle-collagen ratio of urethral tissue were measured to evaluate urethral sphincter regeneration. Data were analysed by paired-t test, one-way ANOVA and post hoc LSD.Results:Mean voiding frequency was significantly different in the ADSC group at two weeks (p<0.0001), but not significantly different at four weeks (p=0.448) when compared with the placebo group.Masson’s trichrome staining revealed that the muscle-collagen ratio of urethral tissue was not significantly different between study groups at two or four weeks (p=0.053 or p=0.166 respectively). Muscle-urethral ratio was more specific showing a significant difference at two weeks (p=0.043). There were significant differences about muscle-collagen or muscle-urethral ratio between control and placebo groups (p<0.05), whereas between control and ADSC groups no significant difference was observed (p>0.05).Conclusion:ADSC transplantation promotes urethral muscle-collagen ratio with development of striated muscle after vaginal distension, so that can improve voiding behavior in a rat model.Keywords:Adipose-derived stem cell, vaginal distension, rat-SUI model, muscle-collagen ratio, voiding stain on paper.

Generation sub-groups have been and continue to be stereotyped as requiring different approaches in the workplace and elsewhere with regard to what keeps them motivated and satisfied. Two measuring instruments were distributed electronically to all staff of a South African Facilities Management firm. The one-way ANOVA was conducted with post-hoc tests to establish which factors display statistically significant differences between generations. The findings demonstrated that certain generation sub-groups have preferences for different types of reward, reward categories, and have different perceptions about what types of reward attracts, motivates and retains employees. The main recommendation is that the company needs to adopt a flexible approach to reward and recognition that allows employees to tailor their reward structure to their own needs.

Heat cured acrylic resin is the most commonly used denture base materials.  Zirconium dioxide (ZrO2) nanoparticles can be applied as additional filler to increase mechanical strength and to reduce the amount of residual monomer. The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of ZrO2 nanoparticles concentrations as filler on heat cured acrylic resin denture base toward viability of fibroblast cells. Twenty four disc-shaped heat cured acrylic resin plate (diameter 5 mm; width 2 mm), were divided into 4 groups (n=6), they were consisted of group I control (acrylic resin), group II acrylic resin with 2.5% ZrO2, group III acrylic resin with 5% ZrO2, and group IV acrylic resin with 7.5% ZrO2. Cell viability was obtained using MTT assay and ELISA plate reader. The result is examined with one way ANOVA followed by LSD post hoc assessment. The result showed highest cell viability percentage on experimental group of 2.5% ZrO2 with value as high as 97.49%. One way ANOVA test and LSD post hoc test showed a significant difference between groups (p<0.05). The conclusion of this research is ZrO2 nanoparticles concentration utilized as filler on heat cured acrylic resin denture base is effect to viability of fibroblast cells, and ZrO2 nanoparticles 2.5% shows the highest viability of fibroblast cell compared to 5% and 7.5% ZrO2 nanoparticles concentrations
