This study presents different land saving and loss reducing schemes. Comprehensively compare the economic benefits of the schemes. It is shown that the optimal scheme can recover tons of coal resources on the south slope, creating significant economic benefits. Numerical simulation was utilized to analyze the changes of slope stability, deformation, and shear strain increment in the process of land saving and loss reducing. Results found that the slope stability decreases rapidly, and the toe of the slope has to be internally discharged in time to compress the slope. Timely follow-up of in-slope rows can improve slope stability. The position of the slope shear exit changes with the increase of the distance of the inner row, and its stability increases gradually. When the distance of the lower inner row exceeds 120 m, the increase of the internal row distance has little influence on the slope stability. When the inner distance exceeds 60 m in the process of internal dumping of upper platform, the position of potential sliding plane gradually changes from the lower dump to the upper and lower dump with the increase of inner dumping distance. It shows that the stability of the dump will be damaged if the upper dump continues to be discharged. Therefore, the distance between the upper and lower dump sites is more important than 60 m. The stability of the south slope is good in the process of mining and internal drainage, and the overall stability of the south slope is controllable, based on slope radar monitoring.

INTRODUCTION:The reduction of healthcare costs and societal cost due to remote monitoring (RM) of cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) has been demonstrated in several countries; however, to the best of our knowledge it does not exist for South Korea. This work aims at providing an estimation of the potential benefit of RM versus standard care (SC) of CIEDs in term of healthcare costs in South Korea, in order to provide additional substance to the currently ongoing societal debate about the value of telemedicine.METHODS:Healthcare resource consumption was taken from the results of the TARIFF study, a prospective, non-randomized, multicenter clinical trial designed in Italy to assess the economic benefits of RM follow-up in comparison with standard follow-up in 209 patients (107 SC, 102 RM). The main results demonstrated that RM reduced healthcare resource consumption by 54 percent from a healthcare services perspective (SC: EUR1,044.89±1,990.47 versus RM: EUR482.87±2488.10, p<.0001 (1).In order to perform a cost analysis from the perspective of the South Korean healthcare payer, the following unit costs were assigned to resources collected in TARIFF (hospitalizations, visits, examinations): fee-for-service tariffs, emergency tariffs and outpatient tariffs. Remote follow-up costs were considered as zero.RESULTS:From the perspective of the South Korean healthcare payer, the overall mean annual cost/patient in the RM group is 53 percent lower than in SC group (SC: EUR405,439±40,135 versus RM: EUR189,96±725,52, p<.0001) (SC: KRW 497,145±49,2137 versus RM: KRW 232,936±890,181, p<.0001). This is mainly due to a significant cost reduction in device-related hospitalizations, examination tests and visits in the follow-up period.CONCLUSIONS:RM of CIED patients is cost-saving from the perspective of the South Korean healthcare system. Introducing appropriate reimbursement for remote monitoring of CIED is not likely to change this result and should make RM sustainable for the provider and encourage widespread adoption of RM.

The dumps in the open-pit mining area in the eastern grassland are prone to landslides due to the fragile ecological environment, so it is inevitable to reshape the dump slopes. In order to explore a more scientific method for slope shaping of open-pit mine dump, slope stability analysis were used to compare effect of three types of slope-type (wave-shaped, slope-shaped and step-shaped slope shaping method)in outside dumping site of Baori Hiller open-pit mine. The results show that the slope stability is negatively correlated with the slope angle, and the stability of different shaping slopes is realized as wave-shaped slope (F=2.711)> Slope-shaped slope(F=2.513)>Step-shaped slope(F=1.047), in which the wave type and slope type are all within the safe range, but the step type slope is unstable; in consideration of cost, stability and erosion resistance, it is better to set the slope angle of the dump to 15°.The wave-shaped shaping method of the natural dumping of the excavation field outside the Baori Hiller open-pit mine has the best effect and is worth promoting.

The stability state of slope rock mass is relating to each other’s relative location during the transformation from open-pit to underground mining, it’s the most disadvantageous influence on the slope stability when the underground mining area is located in the toe of slope, and it’s the best influence as in the slope extracellular region. Slope stability factor changes with the geometric dimensions of underground mining increased, but not in direct proportion. Under the condition of constant geometric dimensions of mining area, the influence on slope stability is changing with the mining depth increased. Thus indicating that the influence on slope stability by underground mining has its spatial property, and to determine the specific influence value requires a combination of many factors, such as the relationship of relative spatial position, the geometric dimensions of mining area, engineering geological conditions and so on.

The weak interlayer in the slope meets with water threatening the overall stability of the slope. Sequestration location of the weak layer has an impact on the stability of the slope. Based on this, taking the south-side slope of Fushun West Open-Pit Mine as the background, the limit equilibrium method was used to study the influence of different depths and dip angles of weak interlayers on the factor-of-safety and sliding mode of the slope. After analyzing the effect, a bottom friction experiment was conducted to verify the theoretical results. The research results show that, as the buried depth of the weak layer becomes larger and the dip angle becomes smaller, the safety factor of the slope increases. Dip angle and depth both affect the sliding mode of the slope. This can provide a reference for study of the influence mechanism of weak interlayer on slope stability in multi-weak-layer slopes.

Chengmenshan copper mine, located at Jiujiang city in the Jiangxi Province, is a rarely lakeside open-pit mine in China. Since the open-pit is very close to Sai Lake, the seasonally changed water level and the distance between lake and slope have great influence to the stability of open-pit slope. Based on the drill data and geological sections, a numerical model of the slope is built. With the fluid-mechanical interaction associated, the stability of the slopes is numerically analyzed, in which different lake water levels and lake-slope distances are taken into consideration. The comparative analysis shows that a larger lake-slope distance can promise better slope stability and weaken the sensitivity of slope stability to water. The stability of slopes with different heights is analyzed to find that the stability weakens and the sensitivity is enhanced with the height increasing. To the most serious situation, the slope height and the lake water level being 238 m and 17.2 m, respectively, theFsvalue equals 1.18945 which is extremely closed to the allowable safety factor of 1.20 for slope design. According to the minimumFsfor slope design, the minimum distance between lake and open-pit slope is found to be 60 m.

Eskihisar open pit mine, located at Yatagan, southwest Turkey, produces thermal coal for a power generating plant. As mining of strips advanced southwards, instability appeared to be highly critical due to the movements in the southeast wall slopes adjacent to the state highway running parallel to the pit boundary. This situation called for an immediate response to initiate a detailed geotechnical investigation program and to redesign the pit slopes. This paper outlines the most probable mode and mechanism of instability along the southeast wall, as well as field and laboratory studies, results of back analysis, discussion of the data requirements, and results of slope stability analyses performed to ensure adequate overall stability. The studies revealed that the most critical failures may occur along two or three planar surfaces, by combination of fault, bedding plane, and localized strata steepening adjacent to the fault, in multiplanar failure mode controlled by faulted blocks. The stability is sensitive to changes in length of the lower part of the basal sliding surface, as well as to the configuration and shear strength of black and highly plastic underclay. The effects of a buttress of intact rock and slope flattening on the stability are compared and discussed. Key words : back analysis, multiplanar failure, shear strength, slope stability, toe buttressing.

Based on mining area end slope stability evaluation engineer- ing of Pingshuo East open pit coal mine in Shanxi Province, ac- cording to the status quo of the North Slope of the first mining district of the East open pit coal mine as well as engineering g- eological investigation results, this article selected a represen- tative cross-section of the North Slope, adopted processing fu- nctions of finite element analysis software MIDAS/GTS, and re- spectively analyze slope stability under three conditions of the mining area of the initial excavation, backfilling and disposal,a- nd follow-up excavation. The paper concluded that Initial exca- vation caused slope instability; backfill slope is stable after di- sposal; follow-up excavation has essentially no effect on slope stability. The establishment and analysis are much closer to t- he real situation, objectively reflect the distribution of slope s- tability of the East open pit coal mine, and provide a design for open pit production safety.
