Online product reviews play a major role in the success or failure of an E-commerce business. Before procuring products or services, the shoppers usually go through the online reviews posted by previous customers to get recommendations of the details of products and make purchasing decisions. Nevertheless, it is possible to enhance or hamper specific E-business products by posting fake reviews, which can be written by persons called fraudsters. These reviews can cause financial loss to E-commerce businesses and misguide consumers to take the wrong decision to search for alternative products. Thus, developing a fake review detection system is ultimately required for E-commerce business. The proposed methodology has used four standard fake review datasets of multidomains include hotels, restaurants, Yelp, and Amazon. Further, preprocessing methods such as stopword removal, punctuation removal, and tokenization have performed as well as padding sequence method for making the input sequence has fixed length during training, validation, and testing the model. As this methodology uses different sizes of datasets, various input word-embedding matrices of n-gram features of the review’s text are developed and created with help of word-embedding layer that is one component of the proposed model. Convolutional and max-pooling layers of the CNN technique are implemented for dimensionality reduction and feature extraction, respectively. Based on gate mechanisms, the LSTM layer is combined with the CNN technique for learning and handling the contextual information of n-gram features of the review’s text. Finally, a sigmoid activation function as the last layer of the proposed model receives the input sequences from the previous layer and performs binary classification task of review text into fake or truthful. In this paper, the proposed CNN-LSTM model was evaluated in two types of experiments, in-domain and cross-domain experiments. For an in-domain experiment, the model is applied on each dataset individually, while in the case of a cross-domain experiment, all datasets are gathered and put into a single data frame and evaluated entirely. The testing results of the model in-domain experiment datasets were 77%, 85%, 86%, and 87% in the terms of accuracy for restaurant, hotel, Yelp, and Amazon datasets, respectively. Concerning the cross-domain experiment, the proposed model has attained 89% accuracy. Furthermore, comparative analysis of the results of in-domain experiments with existing approaches has been done based on accuracy metric and, it is observed that the proposed model outperformed the compared methods.

Our day-to-day activity is highly influenced by development of Internet. One of the rapid growing area in Internet is E-commerce. People are eager to buy products from online sites like Amazon, embay, Flipkart etc. Customers can write reviews about the products purchased online. The purchasing of good through online has been increasing exponentially since last few years. As there is no physical contact with goods before purchasing through online, people totally rely on reviews about the product before purchasing it. Hence review plays an important role in deciding the quality of the product. There are many customers who give online reviews about the product after using it. Hence the quality of the product is decided by the reviews of the customers. Thus, detection of fake reviews has become one of the important task. The proposed system will help in finding such fake reviews about the product, so that the fake reviews can be eliminated. Therefore, the purchasing of the products will be totally based on the genuine reviews. The proposed system uses Deep Recurrent Neural Network (DRNN) to predict the fake reviews and the performance of the proposed method has compared with Naïve Bayes Algorithm. The proposed model shows good accuracy and can handle huge amount of data over the existing system.

An abstractive summary is a process of producing a brief and coherent summary that contains the original text's main concepts. In scientific texts, summarization has generally been restricted to extractive techniques. Abstractive methods that use deep learning have proven very effective in summarizing articles in public fields, like news documents. Because of the difficulty of the neural frameworks for learning specific domain- knowledge especially in NLP task, they haven't been more applied to documents that are related to a particular domain such as the medical domain. In this study, an abstractive summary is proposed. The proposed system is applied to the COVID-19 dataset which a collection of science documents linked to the coronavirus and associated illnesses, in this work 12000 samples from this dataset have been used. The suggested model is an abstractive summary model that can read abstracts of Covid-19 papers then create summaries in the style of a single-statement headline. A text summary model has been designed based on the LSTM method architecture. The proposed model includes using a glove model for word embedding which is converts input sequence to vector forms, then these vectors pass through LSTM layers to produce the summary. The results indicate that using an LSTM and glove model for word embedding together improves the summarization system's performance. This system was evaluated by rouge metrics and it achieved (43.6, 36.7, 43.6) for Rouge-1, Rouge-2, and Rouge-L respectively.

Online reviews have a significant influence on customers' purchasing decisions for any products or services. However, fake reviews can mislead both consumers and companies. Several models have been developed to detect fake reviews using machine learning approaches. Many of these models have some limitations resulting in low accuracy in distinguishing between fake and genuine reviews. These models focused only on linguistic features to detect fake reviews and failed to capture the semantic meaning of the reviews. To deal with this, this paper proposes a new ensemble model that employs transformer architecture to discover the hidden patterns in a sequence of fake reviews and detect them precisely. The proposed approach combines three transformer models to improve the robustness of fake and genuine behaviour profiling and modelling to detect fake reviews. The experimental results using semi-real benchmark datasets showed the superiority of the proposed model over state-of-the-art models.


Online reviews have great impact on today’s business and commerce. Decision making for purchase of online products mostly depends on reviews given by the users. Nowadays, there are a number of people using social media opinions to create their call on shopping for product or service. Opinion Spam detection is an exhausting and hard problem as there are many faux or fake reviews that have been created by organizations or by the people for various purposes. They write fake reviews to mislead readers or automated detection system by promoting or demoting target products to promote them or to degrade their reputations, opportunistic individuals or groups try to manipulate product reviews for their own interests. This paper introduces some semi-supervised and supervised text mining models to detect fake online reviews as well as compares the efficiency of both techniques on dataset containing hotel reviews.

Over the past few years, online reviews have become very important, since they can influence the purchase decision of consumers and the reputation of businesses. Therefore, the practice of writing fake reviews can have severe consequences on customers and service providers. Various approaches have been proposed for detecting opinion spam in online reviews, especially based on supervised classifiers. In this contribution, we start from a set of effective features used for classifying opinion spam and we re-engineered them by considering the Cumulative Relative Frequency Distribution of each feature. By an experimental evaluation carried out on real data from Yelp.com, we show that the use of the distributional features is able to improve the performances of classifiers.

Abstract Automated Incident Detection (AID) is an important part of Advanced Traffic Management and Information Systems (ATMISs). An automated incident detection system can effectively provide information on an incident, which can help initiate the required measure to reduce the influence of the incident. To accurately detect incidents in expressways, a Support Vector Machine (SVM) is used in this paper. Since the selection of optimal parameters for the SVM can improve prediction accuracy, the tabu search algorithm is employed to optimize the SVM parameters. The proposed model is evaluated with data for two freeways in China. The results show that the tabu search algorithm can effectively provide better parameter values for the SVM, and SVM models outperform Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) in freeway incident detection.

Online reviews as a new textual domain offer a unique proposition for sentiment analysis. Their short document length suggests any sentiment they contain is compact and explicit. Although supersized methods have obtained good results, a large amount of corpus should be trained beforehand. Recently, topic models have been introduced for the simultaneous analysis for sentiment in the document. However, the LDA model makes the assumption that, given the parameters the words in the document are all independent. It obviously isnt the case. The words in the document express the sentiment of the author. This paper proposes a model to solve the problem. We assume that the sentiments are related to the topic in the documents. A sentiment layer is added to the LDA model to improve it. Experimental result in the dataset demonstrates the advantage of the proposed model.

Purpose – The social TV phenomenon has raised the interest of some researchers in studying the production of online reviews. However, little is known about the characteristics of reviewers that, without having had indeed a real experience of consumption, still dare to assess the service. The purpose of this research is to understand these reviewers better, using an experiment conducted in Brazil. Design/methodology/approach – Through a cluster analysis with 2547 reviewers of 7 restaurants that participated in a reality show in Brazil, we were able to create 4 fours. Using Spearman Correlation and Kruskal-Wallis Test, differences among groups were analysed in the search of behavioural changes among different types of reviewers. Findings – We conclude that social TV influence fake online reviews of restaurants that were involved in a tv show. Furthermore, we were able to verify that some reviewers indeed assess the service without indeed having tried the service, which strongly bias the influence they are going to cause in potential consumers. Four types of reviewers were identified: the real expert, the amateur reviewer, the speculator and the pseudo expert. The 2 latter types are analyzed through the anthropologic lens of the popular Brazilian culture and the TV influence in that country. Research limitations/implications – we were able to understand how TV can influence the construction of fake online reviews for restaurants. Practical implications – It is important for the restaurant and hospitality industry in general, to be able to be attentive to the phenomenon of fake reviews that can totally biased the advantages of this assessment system that was created to produce trust among consumers, but that can act exactly the other way around. Originality/value – This study highlights the relevance of taking into account cultural background of the country where the restaurant is located, as well as emphasizing the relevance of conducting a previous analysis of the decision of embarking on a reality show that it has high chances to biasedly influence consumers’ decisions.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose a model for product recommendation to improve the accuracy of recommendation based on the current search engines used in e-commerce platforms like Tmall.com. Design/methodology/approach First, the proposed model comprehensively considers price, trust and online reviews, which all represent critical factors in consumers’ purchasing decisions. Second, the model introduces the quantization methods for these criteria incorporating fuzzy theory. Third, the model uses a distance measure between two single valued neutrosophic sets based on the prioritized average operator to consolidate the influences of positive, neutral and negative comments. Finally, the model uses multi-criteria decision-making methods to integrate the influences of price, trust and online reviews on purchasing decisions to generate recommendations. Findings To demonstrate the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed model, a case study is conducted based on Tmall.com. The results of case study indicate that the recommendations of our model perform better than those of current search engines of Tmall.com. The proposed model can significantly improve the accuracy of product recommendations based on search engines. Originality/value The product recommendation method can meet the critical challenge from the search engines on e-commerce platforms. In addition, the proposed method could be used in practice to develop a new application for e-commerce platforms.

Computer aided detection system was developed to identify the pulmonary nodules to diagnose the cancer cells. Main aim of this research enables an automated image analysis and malignancy calculation through data and CPU infrastructure. Our proposed algorithm has improvement filter to enhance the imported images and for nodule selection and neural classifier for false reduction. The proposed model is experimented in both internal and external nodules and the obtained results are shown as response characteristics curves.
