The development of wireless communication technology and the widespread application of big data has accelerated the degree of globalization. Both English and Chinese are widely used languages internationally, and the cultural exchanges between the two occupy a very important proportion in the world. The society’s demand for English-Chinese translation talents has increased, and colleges and universities have also taken measures to improve students’ English-Chinese translation ability. This article analyzes the English-Chinese translation course under the environment of wireless communication and big data, discusses the influence of the development of wireless communication and big data on the teaching of English-Chinese translation, the problems existing in the teaching of English-Chinese translation in colleges and universities, and gives solutions to the existing problems. Finally, using the method of online survey to investigate the current situation of English-Chinese translation teaching in colleges and universities in the province, 245 valid questionnaires were recovered, only 87 of which indicated that their majors offered separate English translation courses, accounting for 35.51% of the total; 158 indicated their majors. There are no English translation courses, accounting for 64.49% of the total. Such a ratio does not match the overall demand for cultural exchanges in the context of the rapid development of wireless technology and big data. Therefore, the convenience brought by new technologies should be actively used to promote the development of the English-Chinese translation teaching system in colleges and universities.

With the development of the big data era and the opening of translation majors in colleges and universities, translation teaching is gradually receiving attention. However, there are still many problems in the training of translators in colleges and universities in terms of teachers, teaching time and teaching mode. In the context of the era of big data, this article uses questionnaires and data analysis, starting from the PACTE translation ability model, combined with constructivist learning theory, blended learning theory, and instructional design theory to analyze the problems of undergraduate translation ability. This article conducts a questionnaire survey on the 2018 students of XX University’s a major, and analyzes their English scores. Students’ bilingual ability is weak, and it is difficult to consider translation under the influence of context in the translation process; their strategic ability is not ideal, and they lack the ability to solve problems when they encounter specific translation problems. The English performance of the experimental class students who have undergone English translation teaching for one semester is significantly better than the control class students who have not received English translation teaching. Teachers can combine teaching theories to design English translation teaching and cultivate students’ awareness of comparative analysis in English learning. Teachers can cultivate students’ English thinking ability, promote them to master English better, and help them improve their English application ability.

Global energy demand is rising due to the rapid development and adoption of new technologies in every sector. Hence, there is a need to introduce a clean energy source that does not cause damage to the environment. Aluminium-air battery with its high theoretical specific volumetric capacity is an exciting alternative for post-lithium energy storage and has been at the forefront of energy research for years. However, the conventional aqueous electrolyte-based aluminium-air battery with bulky liquid storage, parasitic corrosion of aluminium in contact with the electrolyte, and formation of a passive oxide or hydroxide layer has precluded its widespread application. In order to achieve successful simplification and cost-effectiveness, a novel idea of a polypropylene-based aluminium-air battery is proposed. In this work, a polypropylene-based aluminium-air battery was constructed using aluminium foil as an anode, carbon fiber cloth as an air-cathode, and Polypropylene and Kimwipes as the separator. The effects of the electrolyte concentration on the aluminium-air battery were investigated and analyzed using various discharge currents. The study showed that the performance of the polypropylene separator is better than that of the Kimwipes separator. The battery capacity is negatively correlated with the concentrations of the electrolyte. At a discharge current of 30 mA, the aluminium-air battery has a specific capacity of 375 mAh g−1 when 1 M of potassium hydroxide was used as electrolyte.

AbstractThe current age characterized by unstoppable progress and rapid development of new technologies and methods such as the Internet of Things, machine learning and artificial intelligence, brings new requirements for enterprise information systems. Information systems ought to be a consistent set of elements that provide a basis for information that could be used in context to obtain knowledge. To generate valid knowledge, information must be based on objective and actual data. Furthermore, due to Industry 4.0 trends such as digitalization and online process monitoring, the amount of data produced is constantly increasing – in this context the term Big Data is used. The aim of this article is to point out the role of Big Data within Industry 4.0. Nevertheless, Big Data could be used in a much wider range of business areas, not just in industry. The term Big Data encompasses issues related to the exponentially growing volume of produced data, their variety and velocity of their origin. These characteristics of Big Data are also associated with possible processing problems. The article also focuses on the issue of ensuring and monitoring the quality of data. Reliable information cannot be inferred from poor quality data and the knowledge gained from such information is inaccurate. The expected results do not appear in such a case and the ultimate consequence may be a loss of confidence in the information system used. On the contrary, it could be assumed that the acquisition, storage and use of Big Data in the future will become a key factor to maintaining competitiveness, business growth and further innovations. Thus, the organizations that will systematically use Big Data in their decision-making process and planning strategies will have a competitive advantage.

Today in the world, the prevalence of information and telecommunication technologies (ICT) and the Internet contribute to the development of new strategies for work behavior among the population, when less formal rules are applied. This leads to the expansion of the socio-economic space of the city beyond the geographical territory. In modern society, there is a rapid development of the service sector. The introduction of modern technology allows the use of a variety of employment models. The number of temporary workers in the organization's staff is increasing. The development of informal employment and self-employment has resulted in freelance as a new model of employment in the labor market. Unwillingness to work in an office with set hours, search for freedom in allocation of time and work, an increased interest in new technologies, are the reasons for choosing freelance as a labor strategy for young people. The article analyzes the work of domestic and foreign researchers and official statistics in the field of labor and employment. The methodological basis of the study was an online survey of 300 respondents employed in freelance and living in the city of Ulyanovsk, conducted in February–April 2018. For the analysis of empirical data, the IBM SPSS Statistics program was used. The study identified the features of freelancing in the modern labor market in the socio-economic space of the city of Ulyanovsk, revealed the degree of youth involvement in the freelance sphere, the motives for choosing freelancing as a labor strategy, described the current problems and risks faced by freelancers. The hypothesis is confirmed that the spread of freelance as a new model of employment in the labor market is due to the transformation of labor and employment processes, as well as due to the development of information and communication technologies, in particular the Internet, which allows individuals to work outside the office.
