University education is a hot topic of research in this era of outcome-based education in a learning-centric atmosphere, as people struggle for a higher quality of life and technological advancements. The key problems remain in structuring the teaching staff to achieve optimal information transmission and quality. Existing research aims to improve the quality of teaching of the staff, but majority of them fail to achieve their objectives. Multiobjective (MO) optimization has attracted researchers’ interest, particularly, in the context of performance monitoring and improving teaching quality. The goal of this research is to look into techniques for improving academic accomplishment through the planning structure of university teaching staff. I have adopted the Jaynes maximum entropy principle and fuzzy entropy concept to solve the structural optimization problem in the development of teaching staff in colleges and universities. The objective function and constraints in multiobjective optimization are determined, and the multiobjective optimization issue in the development of teaching staff structure is solved using the nondominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) multiobjective genetic algorithm. The results show that the optimized structure of the teaching staff can reflect the goal of the construction of the teaching staff in colleges and universities and provide a scientific basis for the construction and planning of the teaching staff.

Research on educational quality has gotten a lot of attention as the current higher education teaching reform continues to deepen and grow. The key to improving education quality is to improve teaching quality, and teacher evaluation is an important tool for doing so. As a result, educational management requires the development and refinement of a system for evaluating teaching quality. Traditional approaches to assessing teaching quality, on the other hand, are problematic due to their limitations. As a result, a scientific and reasonable model for evaluating the teaching quality of college undergraduate teachers must be developed. We present a unique model for evaluating the quality of classroom teaching in colleges and universities, which is based on improved genetic algorithms and neural networks. The basic idea is to use adaptive mutation genetic algorithms to refine the initial weights and thresholds of the BP neural network. The teaching quality evaluation findings were improved by improving the neural network’s prediction accuracy and convergence speed, resulting in a more practical scheme for evaluating college and university teaching quality. We have conducted simulation experiments and comparative analysis, and the mean square error of the results of the proposed model is very low, which proves the effectiveness and superiority of the algorithm.

Teaching quality evaluation of physical education usually involves multiple influence factors with grey and uncertain information. This brings about limitations to effective evaluation of teaching quality of physical education in colleges and universities. Thus, this paper draws merits from previous research and proposes a teaching quality evaluation system and model of physical education in colleges and universities. First, based on real situations, grey categories of evaluation state for physical education teaching quality are established. The definite weighted functions of grey category of evaluation state are confirmed. Specific steps of the teaching quality evaluation model based on grey clustering analysis are accounted for. Finally, a case study is introduced to verify the model. This model enlightens a new way to evaluate teaching quality of physical education in colleges and universities.

AbstractThis work presents a novel approach to the design of a decision-making system for the cluster-based optimization of an evacuation process using a Parallel bi-objective Real-Coded Genetic Algorithm (P-RCGA). The algorithm is based on the dynamic interaction of distributed processes with individual characteristics that exchange the best potential decisions among themselves through a global population. Such an approach allows the HyperVolume performance metric (HV metric) as reflected in the quality of the subset of the Pareto optimal solutions to be improved. The results of P-RCGA were compared with other well-known multi-objective genetic algorithms (e.g., -MOEA, NSGA-II, SPEA2). Moreover, P-RCGA was aggregated with the developed simulation of the behavior of human agent-rescuers in emergency through the objective functions to optimize the main parameters of the evacuation process.

This study aims to show the importance of evaluating the teaching performance level of the University teaching members. It also aims to provide the suggested mechanisms for evaluating the teaching performance of the teaching staff members of Sebha University. This study was based mainly on documents and analytic description to collect information about the importance and ways of evaluating teachers with reference to some of the international experiences on teaching performance development. This study concluded that the absence of an experienced entity that would develop the teaching performance of faculty members is one of the main reasons for the weak teaching performance at Sebha University. Based on the results of the study, it is recommended that there should be a planned system based on measured standards and criteria for evaluating staff members to improve the quality of teaching in the higher education domain.

Disassembly sequence has received much attention in recent years. This work proposes a multiobjective optimization of model for selective disassembly sequences and maximizing disassembly profit and minimizing disassembly time. An improved scatter search (ISS) is adapted to solve proposed multiobjective optimization model, which embodies diversification generation of initial solutions, crossover combination operator, the local search strategy to improve the quality of new solutions, and reference set update method. To analyze the effect on the performance of ISS, simulation experiments are conducted on different products. The validity of ISS is verified by comparing the optimization effects of ISS and nondominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II).

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore: why the concept of teaching excellence has been uncritically accepted into the lexicon of university management; and how it has been used to co-opt university teaching staff into supporting the myth that teaching quality can be maintained as financial support for teaching has declined. Design/methodology/approach This paper is conceptual and analytical rather than empirical and a critical management perspective is adopted. Findings Per capita funding of university teaching has declined steadily. The concept of teaching excellence has been used to distract attention away from discussions about funding and the conditions required to promote good teaching in universities. The construction of teaching excellence as an attribute of individual teachers has co-opted university teachers into supporting the illusion that teaching quality can be maintained, despite falling organisational support and decreased funding. Research limitations/implications Teaching in universities can only be improved through changes to the management approach and maintenance of per capita funding, and ultimately democratisation of universities. This will require changes to the regulatory framework, and national policy. Practical implications The author concludes that teaching excellence is unhelpful as a concept. Instead the focus of discussion needs to return to ensuring that the necessary conditions for responsive teaching are in place. Social implications Democratise the workplace and management methods; adopt matrix management structures; Rebalance to focus on social benefit and public good. Originality/value This paper uncovers tensions, contradictions and missing elements in current policy and concludes with suggestions for change.

The burden and assertion on the quality of teaching staff in an academic institution have recently become a discussion nationwide and this is owned to the claim of a possible huge resources committed to the education sector without commensurate results. The cry for the integration of Information and Communication Technology into school learning curriculum has further raised the hope of people on maximum productivity of teaching staff in tertiary institution. However, this seems to be eluding because, institutions on yearly basis produced students who are not ICT oriented, thereby, leaving the general public with question of teacher’s productivity. In this paper, a survey was conducted to ascertain the level of ICT compliance on teaching staff productivity and in addition, review was carried out to know if ICT has direct impact on teaching quality as well as proffer possible solutions that could aid smooth delivering of teaching methodology (that is ICT compliance). From the analysis, it was observed that most of the respondents agreed that ICT role has tremendous impact on the quality of teaching staff productivity. The standard value of 2.41 mean showed clearly that the respondents calculated value which is 2.66 empirically demonstrated that the majority of the respondents are in agreement that ICT plays a tangible role in the teaching staff productivity.

Recently, hybrid algorithms have received considerable attention from a number of researchers. This paper presents a hybrid of the multiobjective evolutionary algorithm to gain a better accuracy of the fi nal solutions. The aim of using the hybrid algorithm is to improve the multiobjective evolutionary algorithm performance in terms of the enhancement of all the individuals in the population and increase the quality of the Pareto optimal solutions. The multiobjective evolutionary algorithm used in this study is a nondominated sorting genetic algorithm-II (NSGA-II) together with its hybrid, the backpropagation algorithm (BP), which is used as a local search algorithm to optimize the accuracy and complexity of the three-term backpropagation (TBP) network. The outcome positively demonstrates that the hybrid algorithm is able to improve the classification performance with a smaller number of hidden nodes and is effective in multiclass classifi cation problems. Furthermore, the results indicate that the proposed hybrid method is a potentially useful classifi er for enhancing the classification process ability when compared with the multiobjective genetic algorithm based on the TBP network (MOGATBP) and certain other methods found in the literature.
