In this paper, a two-stage consistency estimator for change point in the mean of panel data is given. Firstly, a single sequence is extracted, and the initial estimator and confidence interval of the change point are given by the least square method. Based on the confidence interval, a random interval containing change point with probability tending to 1 is constructed. Secondly, using all panel data falling into the random interval, the final estimator of change point is obtained by least square estimation. The asymptotic distribution is established. Simulation results show that our method can not only ensure the estimation accuracy but also greatly reduce time complexity.

Abstract Recent literature on tax evasion emphasizes the importance of moral considerations to explain compliance behavior. As a consequence scholars aim to identify factors that shape this so-called tax morale. However, the causal link between tax morale and actual compliance behavior is not established yet. Exploiting exogenous variation in tax morale – given by the inherited part of tax morale of American-born from their ancestors country of origin – our Two-Stage Least Square Estimation provides first evidence on a causal effect of tax morale on the size of the underground production.

Due to its characteristics of using clean electric energy and bringing no damage to the environment, electric vehicles (EVs) have become a new developmental direction for the automotive industry. Its reliability issues have also attracted the attention of experts and professionals. In the field of automotive power control, from the perspective of motor control, this study uses the photoelectric sensors (PSs) as the research objects and elaborates on the measurement principles of motor speed with PSs. Meanwhile, a diagnosis scheme is proposed for various faults in the measurement. Among them, the measurement speed is converted by the photoelectric signal, and the measured waveform is amplified. In the fault detection process, the Radial Basis Function (RBF) artificial neural network (ANN) is analyzed. By using this method, the difference in the motor speed detected by the sensor is calculated to determine the cause of the failure. The test uses the least-square method to compare the tested motor speed with the actual motor speed. The results show that PSs can measure the motor speed of EVs. As for the motor failures, the mean square errors (MSEs) of motor speeds generated by different faults are compared to determine the fault points according to the speed changes. In addition, the cause of motor failure can be determined by the real-time calculation of the speed differences. The above tests fully prove the effectiveness of measuring the speed of electric motors by PSs; therefore, PSs have broad application prospects in vehicle power control systems.

This paper analyses distribution of the total speed ratio of two-stage helical gear reducer. On the minimum mass and contact strength condition , the optimum speed ratio equation is derived. By means of the least square method, the fitting formula of calculating optimum speed ratio on minimum mass candition is obtained. Using this formula, the optimum speed ratio of two-stage helical gear reducer having minimum mass can be found quickly and accurately.

This article investigates whether the presence of immigrants represents an opportunity for Italian tourism firms to increase the number of establishments and their employees. To this scope, we focus on the hotels and restaurants sector where a great amount of revenues comes from the tourist expenditure. The investigation is conducted at both the nationwide level and, separately, for Centre-Northern and Southern provinces. As estimation technique, in order to deal with the potential endogeneity problem, we will proceed with the two-stage least square method. The results strongly support a positive relationship between the provincial share of immigrants and the number of tourism establishments and their employees. This relationship seems to be stronger for southern provinces.

The most concern for investors in both bank and non-bank institutions is the quality of the accounting information provided. Financial statements are considered important because they can determine decisions for each investor. Supporting performance in this era of globalization is accounting information system. Sharia banking's good performance is supported by several factors including capital or operational ratios such as CAR, BOPO, and NPF. This study used pooled least square method with panel data in the period 2010 to 2018. The results showed that together the results showed that the variables NPF, CAR, BOPO have a positive and insignificant influence on ROA.

As an important part of the aero engine, the quality of the blade seriously affects the engine performance, so the inspection method of the blade is significant. Based on the research of the HB 5647-98<<to mark dimensions, tolerances of the vane type and the surface roughness of the blade body>> , this paper concludes different evaluation methods of the blade. The main evaluated parameters include the leading and trailing edge radius, the chord length, the maximum thickness of blade profile, the mean camber line, and the surface twist and so on. Here we mainly discuss the previous three terms. The least square method is adopted to fit the arc of the leading and trailing edge; introduce the projection method to calculate the chord length; at last, we employ the spline fitting method to get the mean line and then obtain the maximum thickness of the blade section.

To investigate the effect of mandala coloring, plaid pattern coloring, and free-form drawing activities on anxiety and mood in older Taiwanese adults. A total of 120 older adults aged 55 years to 75 years were recruited from 18 community-based learning centers for older adults in southern Taiwan. They were randomly assigned to engage in one of the following four activities for 20 minutes: (1) mandala coloring group, (2) plaid pattern coloring group, (3) free-form drawing group, and (4) reading group (control). Information on sociodemographic, lifestyle, and perceived health status was collected at the baseline. In addition, anxiety levels, measured using the 20-item State-Trait Anxiety Inventory–State Anxiety Scale (STAI-S), were ascertained at the baseline (T1), after a brief anxiety induction (T2), and at the end of the assigned activity (T3). The mean anxiety levels among the four groups at T3 were analyzed using analysis of covariance, followed by Šidák multiple comparison test, as appropriate. The mean age of the 120 study participants was 65.1 years and 73.3% were females. A significantly lower anxiety level was observed only in the mandala coloring group (least square mean = 28.2; 95% confidence interval = 24.7–31.7) compared with the control group (least square mean = 36.0; 95% confidence interval = 32.9–39.2) (P=0.004, partial eta-squared = 0.113). Furthermore, when the STAI-S was analyzed at the item level, the mandala coloring group was significantly different from the control group in the following six feelings: calmed down, safe, at ease, rested, satisfied, and I feel good. In conclusion, short-term mandala coloring activity could significantly alleviate self-induced anxiety in community-dwelling older adults. Further studies on the long-term effects of mandala coloring activity in improving the emotional well-being of older adults are warranted.
