With the rapid development of logistics industry, optimization of road transport has become a constraint that must be overcome in the development of related industries. In the IoT era, classic car routing solutions could not meet many different needs. The relevant research findings are endless but not suitable to reduce costs in logistics and distribution processes and meet the needs of customers. This paper researches on vehicle path optimization using IoT technology and intelligent algorithms. Firstly, the traditional GA is optimized, and its coding mode, fitness function, selection, crossover, and mutation operators are studied. The crossover probability was set to 0.6, and the mutation probability was set to 0.1; then, according to the improved GA, a vehicle route optimization model was created. Finally, simulations were conducted to optimize vehicle routes for some distribution centers and 15 customer sites, and the model’s validity was tested. Experimental data show that the improved genetic algorithm begins to converge in 100 generations with a running time of 37.265 s. We calculate the time sensitivity of the customer. An algorithmic model is then used to determine distribution plans based on product demand and time sensitivity. In addition, we compare distribution costs and customer satisfaction of algorithmic and randomized plans. The distribution cost and customer satisfaction of the algorithmic and random patterns were 498.09 yuan and 573.13 yuan and 140.45 and 131.35, respectively. This shows that the vehicle routing optimization model using IoT technology and an improved GA can reduce distribution costs and increase customer satisfaction.

With the rapid development of the logistics industry, the demand of customer become higher and higher. The timeliness of distribution becomes one of the important factors that directly affect the profit and customer satisfaction of the enterprise. If the distribution route is planned rationally, the cost can be greatly reduced and the customer satisfaction can be improved. Aiming at the routing problem of A company’s vehicle distribution link, we establish mathematical models based on theory and practice. According to the characteristics of the model, genetic algorithm is selected as the algorithm of path optimization. At the same time, we simulate the actual situation of a company, and use genetic algorithm to plan the calculus. By contrast, the genetic algorithm suitable for solving complex optimization problems, the practicability of genetic algorithm in this design is highlighted. It solves the problem of unreasonable transportation of A company, so as to get faster efficiency and lower cost.

The car-free carrier platform is a product of the rapid development of the modern logistics industry and has a vital strategic value for promoting the construction of a country’s comprehensive transportation. However, due to the unreasonable platform pricing model, the industry is currently in a bottleneck period. In order to solve this problem, we established a gray correlation model to calculate the degree of correlation between each characteristic index and platform pricing based on the massive historical transaction data of a certain platform and performed K-means clustering on the results to discover the main factors affecting platform pricing. Based on the abovementioned results, we created a pricing optimization model based on the BP neural network, with the structure of 8-13-1 to predict the freight pricing of the order and test the prediction results. The test shows that the goodness of fit (R2) of the predicted value is close to 1, and the prediction error range is less than 3.7%, which proves the accuracy and effectiveness of the BP neural network model and provides an effective reference for the optimization of the pricing model of the car-free carrier platform.

With the rapid development of modern automotive logistics industry, vehicle logistics has drawn more and more attention. Since the vehicle transporters mainly are the severe-polluting heavy-duty vehicles and their exhaust emissions vary under different traffic conditions, it is necessary to improve the planning of road motor-transporting services by taking into account road traffic condition, especially for urban areas. This study aims at minimizing the composite cost, including both the economic cost related to the driver cost and fuel consumption, and the social cost related to the vehicle emissions. The dynamic road traffic condition is imitated dynamically with a discretization technique. A metaheuristic is applied with data collected from a dense district in a huge city. Experimental results show that the proposed approach can always converge quickly to the best solution and the solution with minimal composite cost can always dominate the other solutions with classic route optimization goals.

With the rapid development of modern corporate management, customer satisfaction evaluation has been applied to the management of many companies. Railway empty container allocation not only involves the cost of the railway transportation, but also considers the customer's requirements for time and convenience, etc. Therefore customer satisfaction evaluation also becomes very important for railway container allocation decision. However, it is not easy to properly quantify customer satisfaction, because there are many indicators that cannot be directly quantified. This paper proposes a customer satisfaction evaluation index system based on the RATER index, and adopts a comprehensive evaluation method to achieve quantitative evaluation of customer satisfaction. An empty container allocation optimization model based on customer satisfaction is established. The model can comprehensively consider the interests of both the railway and customers, and provide an effective reference for the railway transportation department to improve the transportation service and optimize empty container allocation plan.

The optimization of blank design is the key to the implementation of a green innovation strategy. The process of blank design determines more than 80% of resource consumption and environmental emissions during the blank processing. Unfortunately, the traditional blank design method based on function and quality is not suitable for today’s sustainable development concept. In order to solve this problem, a research method of blank design optimization based on a low-carbon and low-cost process route optimization is proposed. Aiming at the processing characteristics of complex box type blank parts, the concept of the workstep element is proposed to represent the characteristics of machining parts, a low-carbon and low-cost multi-objective optimization model is established, and relevant constraints are set up. In addition, an intelligent generation algorithm of a working step chain is proposed, and combined with a particle swarm optimization algorithm to solve the optimization model. Finally, the feasibility and practicability of the method are verified by taking the processing of the blank of an emulsion box as an example. The data comparison shows that the comprehensive performance of the low-carbon and low-cost multi-objective optimization is the best, which meets the requirements of low-carbon processing, low-cost, and sustainable production.

This paper analyses loss aversion mechanism (LAM) of the shipping company’s decision-makers about the risk-based decision (RBD) for slow steaming and generalizes a novel optimization model for the sailing speed through the trade-off between fuel consumption, SOx emissions and delivery delay. The value functions against the benchmark speed were constructed based on physiological expected utility (PEU) to reveal the features of loss aversion, and the objective function was derived from these value functions with the aim to optimize the sailing speed. After that, a Genetic Algorithm (GA) solution with fitness function and special operators was built to solve the proposed model. Finally, the model was applied to pinpoint the PEU for the optimal sailing speed against the benchmark speed, and the sensitivity of the model was discussed with different benchmark speeds, value function weights and input parameters. The analysis shows that the proposed model can assist the slow steaming RBD based on the inner feelings of the shipping company’s decision-makers, offering a novel tool for sailing speed optimization.

Optimizing Route for Hazardous Materials Logistics (ORHML) belongs to a class of problems referred to as NP-Hard, and a strict constraint of it makes it harder to solve. In order to dealing with ORHML, an improved hybrid ant colony algorithm (HACA) was devised. To achieve the purpose of balancing risk and cost for route based on the principle of ACA that used to solve TSP, the improved HACA was designed. Considering the capacity of road network and the maximum expected risk limits, a route optimization model to minimize the total cost is established based on network flow theory. Improvement on route construction rule and pheromone updating rule was adopted on the basis of the former algorithm. An example was analyzed to demonstrate the correctness of the application. It is proved that improved HACA is efficient and feasible in solving ORHML.
