This research work aims to study a capacitated transportation problem (CTP) with penalty cost, supplies, and demands represented by hexagonal fuzzy numbers. Based on ranking function, the supplies and demands are converted to the crisp form. Through the use of the α‐level, the problem is converted into interval linear programming. To optimize the interval objective function, we define the order relations represented by policy maker’s choice between intervals. The maximization (minimization) problem considering the interval objective function is transformed to multiobjective optimization problem based on order relations introduced by the preference of policy makers between interval profits (costs). A numerical example is given for illustration and to check the validity of the suggested approach.

This paper discusses a paradox in fixed charge capacitated transportation problem where the objective function is the sum of two linear fractional functions consisting of variables costs and fixed charges respectively. A paradox arises when the transportation problem admits of an objective function value which is lower than the optimal objective function value, by transporting larger quantities of goods over the same route. A sufficient condition for the existence of a paradox is established. Paradoxical range of flow is obtained for any given flow in which the corresponding objective function value is less than the optimum value of the given transportation problem. Numerical illustration is included in support of theory.

In today’s world supply chain is an integral part of business. This paper proposed a model of environmentally liable multi-objective multi time span fuzzy fractional capacitated transportation problem (ELMOMTHIFFCTP) in the two echelon supply chain with heterogeneous items and mixed constraints. In this model, few objectives are considered as a linear function and few are fractional functions. Especially the objective function related to emission cost is considered as linear fractional objective function. The damage cost, labor cost, packing cost and quality cost are considered as triangular intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. This paper focuses on minimization of damage cost, labor cost, quality cost, packing cost and the ratio related to transportation cost , inventory carrying cost and emission cost of the entire supply chain. An industrial case demonstrates the feasibility of applying the proposed model to real world problem in a two – echelon supply chain under uncertain environment also determine an optimal inventory level for the warehouse and distribution centers using fuzzy programming approach through LINGO software.

Some of the theories of nation building have been dedicated to the study of link between nation and nationalism; others are attributed to explore nation building, state building, social integration, national integration and even conflict transformation during various historical periods. However, nation building is a normative concept used by academicians and nation builders alike to study the role of armed forces in nation building in recent times. Although research has conducted on ethnicity and nation building in Nepal, a little is known about application of theoretical perspective to explore the role of Nepali Army in nation building. Apparently, this article argues that the level of theoretical awareness of academicians and nation builders needs improvement and multiple theories of nation building are relevant to explore the role of Nepali Army in nation building during various enclaves of Nepali nation. Important issues like what are the relevant theories in Nepali context to analyse nation building? Their implication during the historical times to study the link of Nepali Army with nation building needs to be studied. Hence, this paper comparatively examines a nation building theories and their relevant implications during various enclaves of Nepali nation particularly applauding the role on Nepali Army. Conceptual framework based on Saunder's Research Onion Peeled (2007) method was used with qualitative design in a way of inductive approach to conduct the research work to investigate the research questions. Comparative document study, library research, quick survey with policy makers, government employees, professors, university students APF Officers and Army Officers based on purposive sampling method have been used. Study found that Nepali nation passes through its own way of building the nation in various enclaves, none of the theories are complete to study the employment of Nepali Army to produce visible and encouraging results. The level of theoretical awareness of academicians and nation builders needs further improvement. For this, multiple theories particularly related to social transformation, infrastructural development in support of centre to periphery relation; social integration and nationalism are appropriate.

All too frequent, valuable research output and scholarly materials from expensively conducted research work in different parts of the world end up in research desks, academic libraries, and scientific journals. Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Science (MUHAS) through the Directorate of Research and Publications initiated a series of symposia that aim to disseminate the evidence generated by the researchers to the policy makers and the community. In two of the six conducted University-wide symposia in the last one year, MUHAS produced two important policy briefs summarizing the impact of MUHAS research in two important—though distinct areas of local and global health impact—Elimination of Mother to Child Transmission (EMTCT) of HIV, and Diarrhea diseases.

The present article describes a contribution to solve transportation problems with green constraints. The aim is to solve an urban traveling salesman problem where the objective function is the total emitted CO2. We start by adapting ASIF approach for calculating CO2 emissions to the urban logistics problem. Then, we solve it using ant colony optimization metaheuristic. The problem formulation and solving will both work under a web-based mapping platform. The selected problem is a real-world NP-hard transportation problem in the city of Casablanca.
