Some new discrete Gronwall-Bellman type inequalities with three independent variables which generalize some existing results and can be used as handy tools in the study of qualitative and quantitative properties of solutions of certain classes of difference equation are presented. As applications, some difference equations with the initial boundary conditions are also considered.

AbstractIn this work, we establish optimal Lyapunov-type inequalities for the second-order difference equation with p-Laplacian $$\begin{aligned} \Delta (\left| \Delta u(k-1)\right| ^{p-2}\Delta u(k-1))+a(k)\left| u(k)\right| ^{p-2}u(k)=0 \end{aligned}$$ Δ ( Δ u ( k - 1 ) p - 2 Δ u ( k - 1 ) ) + a ( k ) u ( k ) p - 2 u ( k ) = 0 with Dirichlet, Neumann, mixed, periodic and anti-periodic boundary conditions.

AbstractIn this article, we establish a technique for transforming arbitrary real order delta difference equations with impulses to corresponding summation equations. The technique is applied to non-integer order delta difference equation with some boundary conditions. Furthermore, the summation formulation for impulsive fractional difference equation is utilized to construct fixed point operator which in turn are used to discuss existence of solutions.

Some new Gronwall-Bellman-type delay integral inequalities in two independent variables on time scales are established, which provide a handy tool in the research of qualitative and quantitative properties of solutions of delay dynamic equations on time scales. The established inequalities generalize some of the results in the work of Zhang and Meng 2008, Pachpatte 2002, and Ma 2010.

Abstract For 1 < ν ≤ 2 a real number and T ≥ 3 a natural number, conditions are given for the existence of solutions of the νth order Atıcı-Eloe fractional difference equation, Δ ν y(t) + f(t + ν − 1, y(t + ν − 1)) = 0, t ∈ {0, 1, …, T}, and satisfying the left focal boundary conditions Δy(ν − 2) = y(ν + T) = 0.

The paper studies a problem with initial functions and boundary conditions for partial differential partial equations of fractional order in partial derivatives with a delayed time argument, with degree Laplace operators with spatial variables and nonlocal boundary conditions in Sobolev classes. The solution of the initial boundary-value problem is constructed as the series’ sum in the eigenfunction system of the multidimensional spectral problem. The eigenvalues are found for the spectral problem and the corresponding system of eigenfunctions is constructed. It is shown that the system of eigenfunctions is complete and forms a Riesz basis in the Sobolev subspace. Based on the completeness of the eigenfunctions system the uniqueness theorem for solving the problem is proved. In the Sobolev subspaces the existence of a regular solution to the stated initial-boundary problem is proved.

An initial-boundary-value problem is considered for the one-dimensional diffusion equation with a general convolutional derivative in time and nonclassical boundary conditions. We are concerned with the inverse source problem of recovery of a space-dependent source term from given final time data. Generalized eigenfunction expansions are used with respect to a biorthogonal pair of bases. Existence, uniqueness and stability estimates in Sobolev spaces are established.

AbstractInitial-boundary value problems for the one-dimensional linear advection–dispersion equation with decay (LAD) are studied by utilizing a unified method, known as the Fokas method. The method takes advantage of the spectral analysis of both parts of Lax pair and the global algebraic relation coupling all initial and boundary values. We present the explicit analytical solution of the LAD equation posed on the half line and a finite interval with general initial and boundary conditions. In addition, for the case of periodic boundary conditions, we show that the solution of the LAD equation is asymptotically t-periodic for large t if the Dirichlet boundary datum is periodic in t. Furthermore, it can be shown that if the Dirichlet boundary value is asymptotically periodic for large t, then so is the unknown Neumann boundary value, which is uniquely characterized in terms of the given asymptotically periodic Dirichlet boundary datum. The analytical predictions for large t are compared with numerical results showing the excellent agreement.

AbstractIn this paper, an integral inequality and the fractional Halanay inequalities with bounded time delays in fractional difference are investigated. By these inequalities, the asymptotical stability conditions of Caputo and Riemann-Liouville fractional difference equation with bounded time delays are obtained. Several examples are presented to illustrate the results.

Abstract It is known that every solution to the second-order difference equation $x_{n}=x_{n-1}+x_{n-2}=0$ x n = x n − 1 + x n − 2 = 0 , $n\ge 2$ n ≥ 2 , can be written in the following form $x_{n}=x_{0}f_{n-1}+x_{1}f_{n}$ x n = x 0 f n − 1 + x 1 f n , where $f_{n}$ f n is the Fibonacci sequence. Here we find all the homogeneous linear difference equations with constant coefficients of any order whose general solution have a representation of a related form. We also present an interesting elementary procedure for finding a representation of general solution to any homogeneous linear difference equation with constant coefficients in terms of the coefficients of the equation, initial values, and an extension of the Fibonacci sequence. This is done for the case when all the roots of the characteristic polynomial associated with the equation are mutually different, and then it is shown that such obtained representation also holds in other cases. It is also shown that during application of the procedure the extension of the Fibonacci sequence appears naturally.
