The construction and several control problems of a new hyperchaotic finance system are investigated in this paper. Firstly, a new four-dimensional hyperchaotic finance system is introduced, based on which a new hyperchaos is then generated by setting parameters. And the qualitative analysis is numerically studied to confirm the dynamical processes, for example, the bifurcation diagram, Poincaré sections, Lyapunov exponents, and phase portraits. Interestingly, the obtained results show that this new system can display complex characteristics: chaotic, hyperchaotic, and quasiperiodic phenomena occur alternately versus parameters. Secondly, three single input adaptive controllers are designed to realize the control problems of such system: stabilization, synchronization, and coexistence of antisynchronization and complete synchronization, respectively. It is noted that the designed controllers are simpler than the existing ones. Finally, numerical simulations are provided to demonstrate the validity and the effectiveness of the proposed theoretical results.

In this paper, we establish a dynamic model of the hyper-chaotic finance system which is composed of four sub-blocks: production, money, stock and labor force. We use four first-order differential equations to describe the time variations of four state variables which are the interest rate, the investment demand, the price exponent and the average profit margin. The hyper-chaotic finance system has simplified the system of four dimensional autonomous differential equations. According to four dimensional differential equations, numerical simulations are carried out to find the nonlinear dynamics characteristic of the system. From numerical simulation, we obtain the three dimensional phase portraits that show the nonlinear response of the hyper-chaotic finance system. From the results of numerical simulation, it is found that there exist periodic motions and chaotic motions under specific conditions. In addition, it is observed that the parameter of the saving has significant influence on the nonlinear dynamical behavior of the four dimensional autonomous hyper-chaotic system.

The formation-containment control problems of sampled-data second-order multi-agent systems with sampling delay are studied. In this paper, we assume that there exist interactions among leaders and that the leader’s neighbours are only leaders. Firstly, two different control protocols with sampling delay are presented for followers and leaders, respectively. Then, by utilizing the algebraic graph theory and matrix theory, several sufficient conditions are obtained to ensure that the leaders achieve a desired formation and that the states of the followers converge to the convex hull formed by the states of the leaders, i.e. the multi-agent systems achieve formation containment. Furthermore, an explicit expression of the formation position function is derived for each leader. An algorithm is provided to design the gain parameters in the protocols. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the obtained theoretical results.

This paper reports the finding a new four-scroll chaotic system with four nonlinearities. The proposed system is a new addition to existing multi-scroll chaotic systems in the literature. Lyapunov exponents of the new chaotic system are studied for verifying chaos properties and phase portraits of the new system via MATLAB are unveiled. As the new four-scroll chaotic system is shown to have three unstable equilibrium points, it has a self-excited chaotic attractor. An electronic circuit simulation of the new four-scroll chaotic system is shown using MultiSIM to check the feasibility of the four-scroll chaotic model.

We propose a novel impulsive chemostat model with the substrate concentration as the basis for the implementation of control strategies, and then investigate the model’s global dynamics. The exact domains of the impulsive and phase sets are discussed in the light of phase portraits of the model, and then we define the Poincaré map and study its complex properties. Furthermore, the existence and stability of the microorganism eradication periodic solution are addressed, and the analysis of a transcritical bifurcation reveals that an order-1 periodic solution is generated. We also provide the conditions for the global stability of an order-1 periodic solution and show the existence of order-[Formula: see text] [Formula: see text] periodic solutions. Moreover, the PRCC results and bifurcation analyses not only substantiate our results, but also indicate that the proposed system exists with complex dynamics. Finally, biological implications related to the theoretical results are discussed.

In this paper, we apply the method of dynamical systems to the traveling wave solutions of the Novikov equation. Through qualitative analysis, we obtain bifurcations of phase portraits of the traveling system and exact cuspon wave solution, as well as a family of breaking wave solutions (compactons). We find that the corresponding traveling system of Novikov equation has no one-peakon solution.

In this paper a novel 3-D nonlinear finance chaotic system consisting of two nonlinearities with negative saving term, which is called ‘dissaving’ is presented. The dynamical analysis of the proposed system confirms its complex dynamic behavior, which is studied by using wellknown simulation tools of nonlinear theory, such as the bifurcation diagram, Lyapunov exponents and phase portraits. Also, some interesting phenomena related with nonlinear theory are observed, such as route to chaos through a period doubling sequence and crisis phenomena. In addition, an interesting scheme of adaptive control of finance system’s behavior is presented. Furthermore, the novel nonlinear finance system is emulated by an electronic circuit and its dynamical behavior is studied by using the electronic simulation package Cadence OrCAD in order to confirm the feasibility of the theoretical model.

In its final months, the Pinochet regime engineered a number of institutional reforms with the intent of bolstering the right side of the spectrum and of promoting centripetal political competition once democratic procedures were reinitiated in 1989. One of the most important reforms created 60 double-member districts for elections to the lower house. Although some analysts have claimed that the new system does in fact promote centrist position taking, using game theory and spatial modeling, the authors demonstrate that the incentives of the Chilean electoral system encourage politicians to take noncentrist positions along a left-right spectrum. The combination of double-member districts with the d'Hondt seat allocation method and open-list voting creates a Rival Partners Game, creating perverse incentives for Chilean candidates. The authors' theoretical results help clarify the debate about the effects of post-authoritarian institutional reforms in Chile and should encourage empirical research on the same issues.

Recently, many rare chaotic systems have been found including chaotic systems with no equilibria. However, it is surprising that such a system can exhibit multiscroll chaotic sea. In this paper, a novel no-equilibrium system with multiscroll hidden chaotic sea is introduced. Besides having multiscroll chaotic sea, this system has two more interesting properties. Firstly, it is conservative (which is a rare feature in three-dimensional chaotic flows) but not Hamiltonian. Secondly, it has a coexisting set of nested tori. There is a hidden torus which coexists with the chaotic sea. This new system is investigated through numerical simulations such as phase portraits, Lyapunov exponents, Poincaré map, and frequency spectra. Furthermore, the feasibility of such a system is verified through circuital implementation.
