Decision and control of SCARA robot in HGA (head gimbal assembly) inspection line is a very challenge issue in hard disk drive (HDD) manufacturing. The HGA circuit called slider FOS is a part of HDD which is used for reading and writing data inside the disk with a very small dimension, i.e., 45 × 64 µm. Accuracy plays an important role in this inspection, and classification of defects is very crucial to assign the action of the SCARA robot. The robot can move the inspected parts into the corresponding boxes, which are divided into 5 groups and those are “Good,” “Bridging,” “Missing,” “Burn,” and “No connection.” A general image processing technique, blob analysis, in conjunction with neurofuzzy c-means (NFC) clustering with branch and bound (BNB) technique to find the best structure in all possible candidates was proposed to increase the performance of the entire robotics system. The results from two clustering techniques which are K-means, Kohonen network, and neurofuzzy c-means were investigated to show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. Training results from the 30x microscope inspection with 300 samples show that the best accuracy for clustering is 99.67% achieved from the NFC clustering with the following features: area, moment of inertia, and perimeter, and the testing results show 92.21% accuracy for the conventional Kohonen network. The results exhibit the improvement on the clustering when the neural network was applied. This application is one of the progresses in neurorobotics in industrial applications. This system has been implemented successfully in the HDD production line at Seagate Technology (Thailand) Co. Ltd.

The triaxial equipment of GDS with digital image processing technique is used in drained test of sand. The result shows that the end restraint and initial defect have significant effect on mechanical properties of sand sample. End restraint and initial defect of sample both can cause inhomogeneous deformation, then form macroscopic shear band in soil testing and numerical simulation. Shape multiformity and formation mechanism of shear band in normal consolidated soil is analyzed based on Modified Cam-Clay Model under plane strain condition. The result shows that end restraint and initial defect can induce and control the formation and shape of shear band. The impaction of different boundaries and initial defect setting are analyzed.

Indian economy majorly depends on the agriculture sector hence it is known as the backbone of India. Here agriculture segment accounts for 18% of India’s GDP and is providing employment to 50% of the country workforce. The main aim of this work is to reduce the manual monitoring of soil testing and plant irrigation and help farmers in increasing the agricultural production. The testing of soil is done through various sensors and based on the data received the farmers can cultivate the appropriate crop that is suitable for soil. Detection of plant’s diseases is done through image processing technique. And also includes pest detection and control by using Acoustic sensor and we make use of Ultrasonic sound emitter to keep the pests away from destroying the crops. It alerts farmers through a message. All the information is sent to IBM Bluemix Cloud by ZigBee protocol. A direct communication link is set up between farmers and the consumers without the involvement of any middleman via mobile app.

Reinforcement learning, in the form of Adaptive Critic Designs (ACDs), have the ability to analyse or evaluate a situation and respond to it accordingly. They offer an excellent alternative for adaptively controlling and optimising the highly nonlinear processes found in industry. Here, an enhanced implementation of the action dependent adaptive critic design (ADAC) of Si and Wang [9] is investigated for modelling and control of an industrial grinding process used in the manufacture of hard disk drive platters. This study, one of the first reported industrial applications of this emerging technology, shows that the proposed ADAC control scheme can achieve a 33% reduction in platter rejects compared to an existing proprietary controller.

One of the advantages of scanning electron microscopy is the capability for processing the image contrast, i.e., the image processing technique. Crewe et al were the first to apply this technique to a field emission scanning microscope and show images of individual atoms. They obtained a contrast which depended exclusively on the atomic numbers of specimen elements (Zcontrast), by displaying the images treated with the intensity ratio of elastically scattered to inelastically scattered electrons. The elastic scattering electrons were extracted by a solid detector and inelastic scattering electrons by an energy analyzer. We noted, however, that there is a possibility of the same contrast being obtained only by using an annular-type solid detector consisting of multiple concentric detector elements.

Image processing technique in general, involves the application of signal processing on the input image for isolating the individual color plane of an image. It plays an important role in the image analysis and computer version. This paper compares the efficiency of two approaches in the area of finding breast cancer in medical image processing. The fundamental target is to apply an image mining in the area of medical image handling utilizing grouping guideline created by genetic algorithm. The parameter using extracted border, the border pixels are considered as population strings to genetic algorithm and Ant Colony Optimization, to find out the optimum value from the border pixels. We likewise look at cost of ACO and GA also, endeavors to discover which one gives the better solution to identify an affected area in medical image based on computational time.

In earlier times fruits were sorted manually and it was very time consuming and laborious task. Human sorted the fruits of the basis of shape, size and color. Time taken by human to sort the fruits is very large therefore to reduce the time and to increase the accuracy, an automatic classification of fruits comes into existence. To improve this human inspection and reduce time required for fruit sorting an advance technique is developed that accepts information about fruits from their images, and is called as Image Processing Technique.
