A simplex cubature Kalman-consensus filter, which is suitable for distributed space target tracking using multiple radars, is proposed to improve the target tracking accuracy. The detailed orbital dynamics model and radar measurement model are given as the system filtering models. The intractable nonlinear Gaussian weighted integral in the filter is decomposed into the spherical integral and radial integral, which are calculated using the spherical simplex rule and the second-order Gauss-Laguerre quadrature rule, respectively. In this way, a new simplex cubature rule is derived. By means of the statistical linear regression method, the posterior mean, covariance, and the transmitted messages in the extended Kalman-consensus filter are approximated using the deduced simplex cubature rule, which results in the proposed simplex cubature Kalman-consensus filter. No data fusion center exists in the filter, and each radar only needs to exchange the information with its neighbors to reach a consensus estimate. The simulation results show that the proposed filter can achieve more accurate results compared with the cubature Kalman-consensus filter.

For improving the tracking accuracy and model switching speed of maneuvering target tracking in nonlinear systems, a new algorithm named interacting multiple model fifth-degree spherical simplex-radial cubature filter (IMM5thSSRCKF) is proposed in this paper. The new algorithm is a combination of the interacting multiple model (IMM) filter and fifth-degree spherical simplex-radial cubature filter (5thSSRCKF). The proposed algorithm makes use of Markov process to describe the switching probability among the models, and uses 5thSSRCKF to deal with the state estimation of each model. The 5thSSRCKF is an improved filter algorithm, which utilizes the fifth-degree spherical simplex-radial rule to improve the filtering accuracy. Finally, the tracking performance of the IMM5thSSRCKF is evaluated by simulation in a typical maneuvering target tracking scenario. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has better tracking performance and quicker model switching speed when disposing maneuver models compared with IMMUKF, IMMCKF and IMM5thCKF.

A novel fifth-degree strong tracking cubature Kalman filter is put forward to improve the two-dimensional maneuvering target tracking accuracy. First, a new fifth-degree cubature rule, with only one point more than the theoretical lower bound, is used to approximate the intractable nonlinear Gaussian weighted integral in the nonlinear Kalman filtering framework, and a novel fifth-degree cubature Kalman filter is proposed. Then, the suboptimal fading factor is designed for the filter to adjust the filtering gain matrix online and force the residual sequences mutually orthogonal, thus improving the ability of the filter to track the mutation state, and the fifth-degree strong tracking cubature Kalman filter is derived. The suboptimal fading factor is calculated in a new method, which reduces the number of calculations for the cubature points from three times to twice without calculating the Jacobian matrix. The simulation results indicate that the proposed filter has the ability to track the maneuvering target and achieve higher target tracking accuracy and thus verifies the effectiveness of the proposed filter.

A novel spherical simplex Gauss–Laguerre quadrature cubature Kalman filter is proposed to improve the estimation accuracy of nonlinear dynamic system. The nonlinear Gaussian weighted integral has been approximately evaluated using the spherical simplex rule and the arbitrary order Gauss–Laguerre quadrature rule. Thus, a spherical simplex Gauss–Laguerre cubature quadrature rule is developed, from which the general computing method of the simplex cubature quadrature points and the corresponding weights are obtained. Then, under the nonlinear Kalman filtering framework, the spherical simplex Gauss–Laguerre quadrature cubature Kalman filter is derived. A high-dimensional nonlinear state estimation problem and a target tracking problem are utilized to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed spherical simplex Gauss–Laguerre cubature quadrature rule to improve the performance.

A spherical simplex-radial cubature quadrature Kalman filter (SSRCQKF) is proposed in order to further improve the nonlinear filtering accuracy. The Gaussian probability weighted integral of the nonlinear function is decomposed into spherical integral and radial integral, which are approximated by spherical simplex cubature rule and arbitrary order Gauss-Laguerre quadrature rule, respectively, and the novel spherical simplex-radial cubature quadrature rule is obtained. Combined with the Bayesian filtering framework, the general form and the specific form of SSRCQKF are put forward, and the numerical simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm can achieve a higher filtering accuracy than CKF and SSRCKF.

AbstractUltrasound (US) imaging, in contrast to other image guidance techniques, offers the distinct advantage of providing volumetric image data in real-time (4D) without using ionizing radiation. The goal of this study was to perform the first quantitative comparison of three different 4D US systems with fast matrix array probes and real-time data streaming regarding their target tracking accuracy and system latency. Sinusoidal motion of varying amplitudes and frequencies was used to simulate breathing motion with a robotic arm and a static US phantom. US volumes and robot positions were acquired online and stored for retrospective analysis. A template matching approach was used for target localization in the US data. Target motion measured in US was compared to the reference trajectory performed by the robot to determine localization accuracy and system latency. Using the robotic setup, all investigated 4D US systems could detect a moving target with sub-millimeter accuracy. However, especially high system latency increased tracking errors substantially and should be compensated with prediction algorithms for respiratory motion compensation.

This paper addresses the problem of the joint target tracking and classification based on data fusion. In traditional methods, a separate suite of sensors and system models are used, target tracking and target classification are usually treated as separate problems. In our JTC framework, the link between target state and class is considered and the feasibility of JTC techniques is discussed. The tracking accuracy and classification probability are improved to some extent with the more accurate classification results from classifier based on data fusion feedback to state filter.

Target tracking is a significant topic in the field of computer vision. In this paper, the target tracking algorithm based on deep Siamese network is studied. Aiming at the situation that the tracking process is not robust, such as drift or miss the target, the tracking accuracy and robustness of the algorithm are improved by improving the feature extraction part and online update part. This paper adds SE-block and temporal attention mechanism (TAM) to the framework of Siamese neural network. SE-block can refine and extract features; different channels are given different weights according to their importance which can improve the discrimination of the network and the recognition ability of the tracker. Temporal attention mechanism can update the target state by adjusting the weights of samples at current frame and historical frame to solve the model drift caused by the existence of similar background. We use cross-entropy loss to distinguish the targets in different sequences so that their distance in the feature domains is longer and the features are easier to identify. We train and test the network on three benchmarks and compare with several state-of-the-art tracking methods. The experimental results demonstrate that the algorithm proposed is superior to other methods in tracking effect diagram and evaluation criteria. The proposed algorithm can solve the occlusion problem effectively while ensuring the real-time performance in the process of tracking.

The traditional centroid tracking method over-relies on the accuracy of segment, which easily lead to loss of underwater moving target. This paper presents an object tracking method based on circular contour extraction, combining region feature and contour feature. Through the correction to circle features, the problem of multiple solutions causing by Hough transform circle detection is avoided. A new motion prediction model is constructed to make up the deficiency that three-order motion prediction model has disadvantage of high dimension and large calculation. The predicted position of object centroid is updated and corrected by circle contour, forming prediction-measurement-updating closed-loop target tracking system. To reduce system processing time, on the premise of the tracking accuracy, a dynamic detection method based on target state prediction model is proposed. The results of contour extraction and underwater moving target experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
