In large-scale location-based service, an ideal situation is that self-adapting routing strategies use future traffic data as input to generate a topology which could adapt to the changing traffic well. In the paper, we propose a traffic prediction model for the broker in publish/subscribe system, which can predict the traffic of the link in future by neural network. We first introduced our traffic prediction model and then described the model integration. Finally, the experimental results show that our traffic prediction model could predict the traffic of link well.

The fatigue energy consumption of independent gestures can be obtained by calculating the power spectrum of surface electromyography (sEMG) signals. The existing research studies focus on the fatigue of independent gestures, while the research studies on integrated gestures are few. However, the actual gesture operation mode is usually integrated by multiple independent gestures, so the fatigue degree of integrated gestures can be predicted by training neural network of independent gestures. Three natural gestures including browsing information, playing games, and typing are divided into nine independent gestures in this paper, and the predicted model is established and trained by calculating the energy consumption of independent gestures. The artificial neural networks (ANNs) including backpropagation (BP) neural network, recurrent neural network (RNN), and long short-term memory (LSTM) are used to predict the fatigue of gesture. The support vector machine (SVM) is used to assist verification. Mean square error (MSE), root mean square error (RMSE), and mean absolute error (MAE) are utilized to evaluate the optimal prediction model. Furthermore, the different datasets of the processed sEMG signal and its decomposed wavelet coefficients are trained, respectively, and the changes of error functions of them are compared. The experimental results show that LSTM model is more suitable for gesture fatigue prediction. The processed sEMG signals are appropriate for using as the training set the fatigue degree of one-handed gesture. It is better to use wavelet decomposition coefficients as datasets to predict the high-dimensional sEMG signals of two-handed gestures. The experimental results can be applied to predict the fatigue degree of complex human-machine interactive gestures, help to avoid unreasonable gestures, and improve the user’s interactive experience.

In the large-scale distributed simulation area, the topology of the overlay network cannot always rapidly adapt to frequently changing application traffic to reduce the overall traffic cost. In this paper, we propose a self-adapting routing strategy for frequently changing application traffic in content-based publish/subscribe system. The strategy firstly trains the traffic information and then uses this training information to predict the application traffic in the future. Finally, the strategy reconfigures the topology of the overlay network based on this predicting information to reduce the overall traffic cost. A predicting path is also introduced in this paper to reduce the reconfiguration numbers in the process of the reconfigurations. Compared to other strategies, the experimental results show that the strategy proposed in this paper could reduce the overall traffic cost of the publish/subscribe system in less reconfigurations.

Accurate traffic prediction on a large-scale road network is significant for traffic operations and management. In this study, we propose an equation for achieving a comprehensive and accurate prediction that effectively combines traffic data and non-traffic data. Based on that, we developed a novel prediction model, called the adaptive deep neural network (ADNN). In the ADNN, we use two long short-term memory (LSTM) networks to extract spatial-temporal characteristics and temporal characteristics, respectively. A backpropagation neural network (BPNN) is also employed to represent situations from contextual factors such as station index, forecast horizon, and weather. The experimental results show that the prediction of ADNN for different stations and different forecast horizons has high accuracy; even for one hour ahead, its performance is also satisfactory. The comparison of ADNN and several benchmark prediction models also indicates the robustness of the ADNN.

A traffic prediction model that incorporates relevant demographic variables for county roads was developed. Field traffic data were collected from 40 out of 92 counties in Indiana. The selection of a county was based on population, state highway mileage, per capita income, and the presence of interstate highways. Three to four automatic traffic counters were installed in each selected county. Most counters installed on the selected road sections were based on the standard 48-hour traffic counts. Then, the obtained average daily traffic was converted to annual average daily traffic by means of adjustment factors. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to develop the model. There were quantitative and qualitative predictor variables used in the model development. To validate the developed model, additional field traffic data were collected from eight randomly selected counties. The accuracy measures of the validation showed the high accuracy of the model. The statistical analyses also found that the independent variables employed in the model were statistically significant. The number of independent variables included in the model was kept to a minimum.

As a core component of the urban intelligent transportation system, traffic prediction is significant for urban traffic control and guidance. However, it is challenging to achieve accurate traffic prediction due to the complex spatiotemporal correlation of traffic data. A road section speed prediction model based on wavelet transform and neural network is, therefore, proposed in this article to improve traffic prediction methods. The wavelet transform is used to decompose the original traffic speed data, and then the coefficients obtained after the decomposition are used to reconstruct the high-frequency random sequences and the low-frequency trend sequence. Secondly, a GRU neural network is constructed to learn the trend of low-frequency sequence. The spatiotemporal correlation between input data is extracted by adjusting the input of the model. Meanwhile, an ARMA model is used to fit unstable random fluctuations of high-frequency sequences. Last of all, the prediction results of the two models are added together to obtain the final prediction result. The proposed prediction model is validated by using road section speed data based on the floating car data collected in Ningbo. The results show that the proposed model has high accuracy and robustness.
