Our aim is to classify the Rota-Baxter operators of weight 0 on the 3-dimensional Lie algebra whose derived algebra’s dimension is 2. We explicitly determine all Rota-Baxter operators (of weight zero) on the 3-dimensional Lie algebras g. Furthermore, we give the corresponding solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation in the 6-dimensional Lie algebras g ⋉ad⁎ g⁎ and the induced left-symmetry algebra structures on g.

AbstractA Hom-structure on a Lie algebra (g,[,]) is a linear map σ W g σ g which satisfies the Hom-Jacobi identity: [σ(x), [y,z]] + [σ(y), [z,x]] + [σ(z),[x,y]] = 0 for all x; y; z ∈ g. A Hom-structure is referred to as multiplicative if it is also a Lie algebra homomorphism. This paper aims to determine explicitly all the Homstructures on the finite-dimensional semi-simple Lie algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. As a Hom-structure on a Lie algebra is not necessarily a Lie algebra homomorphism, the method developed for multiplicative Hom-structures by Jin and Li in [J. Algebra 319 (2008): 1398–1408] does not work again in our case. The critical technique used in this paper, which is completely different from that in [J. Algebra 319 (2008): 1398– 1408], is that we characterize the Hom-structures on a semi-simple Lie algebra g by introducing certain reduction methods and using the software GAP. The results not only improve the earlier ones in [J. Algebra 319 (2008): 1398– 1408], but also correct an error in the conclusion for the 3-dimensional simple Lie algebra sl2. In particular, we find an interesting fact that all the Hom-structures on sl2 constitute a 6-dimensional Jordan algebra in the usual way.

We prove that any zero torsion linear map on a nonsolvable real Lie algebra is an extension of some CR-structure. We then study the cases of (2, ) and the 3-dimensional Heisenberg Lie algebra . In both cases, we compute up to equivalence all zero torsion linear maps on , and deduce an explicit description of the equivalence classes of integrable complex structures on .

We introduce a notion of left-symmetric bialgebra which is an analogue of the notion of Lie bialgebra. We prove that a left-symmetric bialgebra is equivalent to a symplectic Lie algebra with a decomposition into a direct sum of the underlying vector spaces of two Lagrangian subalgebras. The latter is called a parakähler Lie algebra or a phase space of a Lie algebra in mathematical physics. We introduce and study coboundary left-symmetric bialgebras and our study leads to what we call "S-equation", which is an analogue of the classical Yang–Baxter equation. In a certain sense, the S-equation associated to a left-symmetric algebra reveals the left-symmetry of the products. We show that a symmetric solution of the S-equation gives a parakähler Lie algebra. We also show that such a solution corresponds to the symmetric part of a certain operator called "[Formula: see text]-operator", whereas a skew-symmetric solution of the classical Yang–Baxter equation corresponds to the skew-symmetric part of an [Formula: see text]-operator. Thus a method to construct symmetric solutions of the S-equation (hence parakähler Lie algebras) from [Formula: see text]-operators is provided. Moreover, by comparing left-symmetric bialgebras and Lie bialgebras, we observe that there is a clear analogue between them and, in particular, parakähler Lie groups correspond to Poisson–Lie groups in this sense.

This paper studies holomorphic homogeneous real hypersurfaces in C3 associated with the unique non-solvable indecomposable 5-dimensional Lie algebra 𝑔5 (in accordance with Mubarakzyanov’s notation). Unlike many other 5-dimensional Lie algebras with “highly symmetric” orbits, non-degenerate orbits of 𝑔5 are “simply homogeneous”, i.e. their symmetry algebras are exactly 5-dimensional. All those orbits are equivalent (up to holomorphic equivalence) to the specific indefinite algebraic surface of the fourth order. The proofs of those statements involve the method of holomorphic realizations of abstract Lie algebras. We use the approach proposed by Beloshapka and Kossovskiy, which is based on the simultaneous simplification of several basis vector fields. Three auxiliary lemmas formulated in the text let us straighten two basis vector fields of 𝑔5 and significantly simplify the third field. There is a very important assumption which is used in our considerations: we suppose that all orbits of 𝑔5 are Levi non-degenerate. Using the method of holomorphic realizations, it is easy to show that one need only consider two sets of holomorphic vector fields associated with 𝑔5. We prove that only one of these sets leads to Levi non-degenerate orbits. Considering the commutation relations of 𝑔5, we obtain a simplified basis of vector fields and a corresponding integrable system of partial differential equations. Finally, we get the equation of the orbit (unique up to holomorphic transformations) (𝑣 − 𝑥2𝑦1)2 + 𝑦2 1𝑦2 2 = 𝑦1, which is the equation of the algebraic surface of the fourth order with the indefinite Levi form. Then we analyze the obtained equation using the method of Moser normal forms. Considering the holomorphic invariant polynomial of the fourth order corresponding to our equation, we can prove (using a number of results obtained by A.V. Loboda) that the upper bound of the dimension of maximal symmetry algebra associated with the obtained orbit is equal to 6. The holomorphic invariant polynomial mentioned above differs from the known invariant polynomials of Cartan’s and Winkelmann’s types corresponding to other hypersurfaces with 6- dimensional symmetry algebras.

In the paper it is shown that the two-dimensional dynamical system of equations is Darboux integrable if and only if its characteristic Lie algebra is finite-dimensional. The class of systems having a full set of fist and second order integrals is described.

Equations of hydrodynamic type with the equation of state in the form of pressure separated into a sum of density and entropy functions are considered. Such a system of equations admits a twelve-dimensional Lie algebra. In the case of the equation of state of the general form, the equations of gas dynamics admit an eleven-dimensional Lie algebra. For both Lie algebras the optimal systems of non-similar subalgebras are constructed. In this paper two partially invariant submodels of rank 3 defect 1 are constructed for two-dimensional subalgebras of the twelve-dimensional Lie algebra. The reduction of the constructed submodels to invariant submodels of eleven-dimensional and twelve-dimensional Lie algebras is proved.

We study the structure of n-Lie algebras with involutive derivations for n≥2. We obtain that a 3-Lie algebra A is a two-dimensional extension of Lie algebras if and only if there is an involutive derivation D on A=A1  ∔  A-1 such that dim A1=2 or dim A-1=2, where A1 and A-1 are subspaces of A with eigenvalues 1 and -1, respectively. We show that there does not exist involutive derivations on nonabelian n-Lie algebras with n=2s for s≥1. We also prove that if A is a (2s+2)-dimensional (2s+1)-Lie algebra with dim A1=r, then there are involutive derivations on A if and only if r is even, or r satisfies 1≤r≤s+2. We discuss also the existence of involutive derivations on (2s+3)-dimensional (2s+1)-Lie algebras.

In this paper we develop a theory for analysing the "radius" of the Lie algebra of a matrix Lie group, which is a measure of the size of its commutators. Complete details are given for the Lie algebra 𝔰𝔬(n) of skew symmetric matrices where we prove [Formula: see text], X, Y ∈ 𝔰𝔬(n), for the Frobenius norm. We indicate how these ideas might be extended to other matrix Lie algebras. We discuss why these ideas are of interest in applications such as geometric integration and optimal control.

Let R be a principal and integral domain. We say that two differential graded free Lie algebras over R (free dgl for short) are weakly equivalent if and only if the homologies of their corresponding enveloping universal algebras are isomophic. This paper is devoted to the problem of how we can characterize the weakly equivalent class of a free dgl. Our tool to address this question is the Whitehead exact sequence. We show, under a certain condition, that two R-free dgls are weakly equivalent if and only if their Whitehead sequences are isomorphic.
