There are few studies which reported the characteristics of winter clouds and precipitation in the Haituo Mountains of Northern Beijing where the 2022 Winter Olympic Games will be held. This paper outlines comprehensive datasets, including the surface measurements, remote sensing and aircraft measurements, to study cloud and precipitation characteristics over the mountainous terrain. The analysis results show (1) high-level trough and vortex were the main weather system in all 12 cases. (2) 58% of precipitation occurred only at night, and only 8% of snowfall occurred only at daytime, but under the surface inverse trough snowfall (in 4 of the 12 cases) persisted from night to day peaking at 20 hours; Snowfall persisted at least 3 hours in 83% of the snowfall, 5–10 hours in 50% of cases, and more than 10 hours in 33% of the storms. In 67% of cases, the maximum snowfall occurred within the initial 1-2 hours. (3) In 12 cases, 83% of orographic clouds reached Yan Jiaping, after increased southwesterly winds, resulting in visibility below 100 m. (4) during snowfall, The dominant wind direction is southwest. The start of the snowfall corresponded with an increase in southwesterly wind. The snowfall is maintained according to with the strengthening of southwesterly wind and dissipated accordingly with the receding of southwesterly wind. Whenever the snowfall stopped, the northwest wind was strong at all heights. (5) The first peak value of integral liquid water appeared in the early stage of snow, and we also observed integral liquid water increases with orographic cloud uplift, presenting potentially favorable seeding opportunities in 10 cases. (6) The primary crystal habits collected at Yan Jiaping during steady snowfall were rimed and aggregated planar dendrites.

Lung cancer is the most common cancer throughout the world and identification of malignant tumors at an early stage is needed for diagnosis and treatment of patient thus avoiding the progression to a later stage. In recent times, deep learning architectures such as CNN have shown promising results in effectively identifying malignant tumors in CT scans. In this paper, we combine the CNN features with texture features such as Haralick and Gray level run length matrix features to gather benefits of high level and spatial features extracted from the lung nodules to improve the accuracy of classification. These features are further classified using SVM classifier instead of softmax classifier in order to reduce the overfitting problem. Our model was validated on LUNA dataset and achieved an accuracy of 93.53%, sensitivity of 86.62%, the specificity of 96.55%, and positive predictive value of 94.02%.

Changes in the content of N-acetylneuraminic acid in rat erythrocyte membranes at different stages of experimental tumour (Morris hepatoma 5123) development were examined. Its content was lowered on the 30th and 40th day after transplantation of the tumour cells, as compared to the results for normal healthy rats. As a result of the tumour growth, the content of N-acetylgalactosamine, galactose and mannose in rat erythrocyte membranes became lowered, whereas that of glucose remained unchanged. The content of fucose was raised at early stage of tumour growth, and remained at this high level till the 40th day of experiment.

Abstract This article is a review of work on the subject of seedability of winter orographic clouds for increasing precipitation. Various aspects of seedability are examined in the review, including definitions, distribution of supercooled liquid water, related meteorological factors, relationship of supercooled liquid water to storm stage, factors governing seedability, and the use of seeding criteria. Of particular interest is the conclusion that seedability is greatest when supercooled liquid water concentrations are large and at the same time precipitation rates are small. Such a combination of conditions is favored if the cloud-top temperature is warmer than a limiting value and as the cross-barrier wind speed at mountaintop levels increases. It is also suggested that cloud seeding is best initiated in accordance with direct measurements of supercooled liquid water, precipitation, and cross-barrier wind speed. However, in forecasting these conditions or in continuation of seeding previously initiated, the cloud-top temperature and cross-barrier wind speed are the most useful quantities.

This correlation study  aimed to determine the association between the level of self-esteem and romantic jealousy among selected undergraduate university students from Metro Manila, Philippines. The researchers conducted an online survey with the use of self-administered questionnaires. Purposive non-probability sampling was used to identify the 40 respondents for this study. to gather respondents. Descriptive and inferential statistics.  Majority of the respondents were females (23 out of 40) and in their early stage of relationship (1-4 months). Results show that the respondents have a moderate level of self-esteem (median of 3) and high level of romantic jealousy (median of 5). A statistically significant inverse correlation was found between their level of self-esteem and romantic jealousy (r =-0.185, p<.05). The result suggests that the higher their level of self-esteem, the lower the romantic jealousy, i.e. romantic jealousy has no space if one is confident in one's romantic relationship.

The FGF-related proto-oncogene int-2 is implicated in mouse embryogenesis, since it is expressed in specific tissues during gastrulation and neurulation (Wilkinson et. al. 1988). Here, we describe the expression of this gene during subsequent fetal development, int-2 transcripts are restricted to Purkinje cells in the cerebellum and to regions of the developing retina containing early-stage differentiating cells. This high level expression is not detected in the mature cerebellum or retina. In addition, int-2 RNA is detected in the mesenchyme of the developing teeth and in sensory regions of the inner ear. This complex and dynamic pattern suggests multiple roles of this proto-oncogene during fetal development of the mouse.

This chapter analyses how the civil rights campaign of the late 1960s gave way to escalating violence in the early 1970s as pragmatic local arrangements aimed at keeping the peace came under increasing pressure. It shows the extent of the shared interests and cooperation between the British state and Irish republicans and nationalists at this early stage and explains the bargaining failure that led to the breakdown of relationships and the closure of these early back-channels. Focusing on the role of mediators, it analyses the local networks of back-channel communication that would help to lay the foundations for subsequent high-level secret contacts.

FPGAs have been used as a target platform because they have increasingly interesting in system design and due to the rapid technological progress ever larger devices are commercially affordable. These trends make FPGAs an alternative in application areas where extensive data processing plays an important role. Consequently, the desire emerges for early performance estimation in order to quantify the FPGA approach. A mathematical model has been presented that estimates the maximum number of LUTs consumed by the hardware synthesized for different FPGAs using LLVM.. The motivation behind this research work is to design an area modeling approach for FPGA based implementation at an early stage of design. The equation based area estimation model permits immediate and accurate estimation of resources. Two important criteria used to judge the quality of the results were estimation accuracy and runtime. Experimental results show that estimation error is in the range of 1.33% to 7.26% for Spartan 3E, 1.6% to 5.63% for Virtex-2pro and 2.3% to 6.02% for Virtex-5.

AbstractThe expression of metabolic enzyme genes and heat-shock protein genes (Hsp) during early embryogenesis in diapause and non-diapause eggs of the silkworm Bombyx mori was quantified by semi-quantitative RT-PCR. The trehalase gene (Tre) was expressed in non-diapause eggs up-to nine days, while in diapause eggs was not up regulated. The glycogen phosphorylase gene (GPase) was expressed in non-diapause eggs, whereas in diapause eggs a high level was observed in early stage, but down regulated in later stage. The phosphofructokinase gene (PFK) and sorbitol dehyrogenase-2 gene (SDH-2) expression was fluctuated in non-diapause eggs, whereas in diapause eggs these were expressed only at early stage and not observed in later stage. The glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase gene (G6P-DH) in non-diapause eggs was highly expressed during the differentiation phase and decreased in the organogenesis phase. In contrast to this, expression in diapause eggs was of low level during differentiation phase and of high level observed in the organogenesis phase. In the tissues, PFK and SDH-2 were selectively expressed in cuticle and midgut, whereas Tre expression was high in midgut and ovary of larvae incubated at 15°C. The Hsp (20.4, 20.8, 40, 70, and 90) were expressed in both diapause and non-diapause eggs. Their expression was, however, selective in tissues with Hsp20.4 in midgut and ovary, Hsp40 in head, Hsp70 in cuticle and Hsp90 in ovary and head in high amounts at 15°C. These results suggest that the metabolic enzyme genes studied except Hsp play a major role during embryogenesis of diapause and non-diapause silkworm.
