This paper investigates the product pricing decision-making problem under a consignment stock policy in a two-level supply chain composed of one supplier and multiple retailers. The effects of the supplier’s wholesale prices and its partial inventory cost absorption of the retail prices of retailers with different market shares are investigated. In the partial product consignment model this paper proposes, the seller and the retailers each absorb part of the inventory costs. This model also provides general solutions for the complete product consignment and the traditional policy that adopts no product consignment. In other words, both the complete consignment and nonconsignment models are extensions of the proposed model (i.e., special cases). Research results indicated that the optimal retail price must be between 1/2 (50%) and 2/3 (66.67%) times the upper limit of the gross profit. This study also explored the results and influence of parameter variations on optimal retail price in the model.

(1) Background: A binding recommended retail price has been used in several markets in a variety of forms, and the book market is a typical example. Publishers sell books to online retailers at a unit wholesale discount computed on the cover price. Retailers are then allowed to set the retail price. Therefore, if consumers regard the cover prices as reference points, then they may be more likely to purchase books if retail prices are lower than the cover prices. (2) Methods: We develop a Stackelberg game model for a book supply chain to investigates how reference price effects affect retailers and publisher’s pricing strategies. (3) Results: The results show that retailers will sell printed books at a discount only when the publisher’s wholesale discount rate is not high. Further, as the intensity of the reference price effects increases, (a) the lower boundary of the wholesale discount rate rises, (b) publishers’ profits increase and (c) retailers’ profits increase relative to the level of consumers’ e-books acceptance. (4) Conclusions: This result is related to the fact that the online retailer, such as Amazon and JD.com, like to invoke reference price effects in consumers’ minds by highlighting the printed book’s discount rate.

AbstractThe dependence of the creation and the annealing of metastable dangling bonds in hydrogenated amorphous silicon on various material parameters will be discussed in the context of a recently proposed model. After a brief review of the kinetic behaviour governing defect creation and annealing in undoped a- Si:H, a number of special cases will be analyzed: the influence of alloying with O, N, C, and Ge, changes introduced by doping and compensation, and the role of mechanical stress. Finally, possibilities to increase the stability of a-Si:H based devices will be examined.

We introduce a method based on distance measures for group decision making under uncertain linguistic environment. We develop some uncertain linguistic aggregation distance measures called the uncertain linguistic weighted distance (ULWD) measure, the uncertain linguistic ordered weighted distance (ULOWD) measure, and the uncertain linguistic hybrid weighted distance (ULHWD) measure. We study some of their characteristic, and we prove that the ULWD and the ULOWD are special cases of the ULHWD measure. Finally, we develop an application of the ULHWD measure in a group decision making problem concerning the evaluation of university faculty for tenure and promotion with uncertain linguistic information.

This paper presents the dynamic analytical solution of a piezoelectric stack utilized in an actuator and a generator based on the linear piezo-elasticity theory. The solutions for two different kinds of piezoelectric stacks under external load were obtained using the displacement method. The effects of load frequency and load amplitude on the dynamic characteristics of the stacks were discussed. The analytical solutions were validated using the available experimental results in special cases. The proposed model is able not only to predict the output properties of the devices, but also to reflect the inner electrical and mechanical components, which is helpful for designing piezoelectric actuators and generators in a comprehensive manner.

A new method for decision making that uses the ordered weighted averaging (OWA) operator in the aggregation of the information is presented. It is used a concept that it is known in the literature as the index of maximum and minimum level (IMAM). This index is based on distance measures and other techniques that are useful for decision making. By using the OWA operator in the IMAM, we form a new aggregation operator that we call the ordered weighted averaging index of maximum and minimum level (OWAIMAM) operator. The main advantage is that it provides a parameterized family of aggregation operators between the minimum and the maximum and a wide range of special cases. Then, the decision maker may take decisions according to his degree of optimism and considering ideals in the decision process. A further extension of this approach is presented by using hybrid averages and Choquet integrals. We also develop an application of the new approach in a multi-person decision-making problem regarding the selection of strategies.

This paper aims to develop a dynamic pricing policy for deteriorating items with price and stock dependent demand. In declining market demand of items decreases with respect to time and also after a duration items get outdated. In this situation it needs a pricing policy to sale the items before end season. The proposed dynamic pricing policy is applicable for a limited period to clease the stock. Policy decision regarding the selling price could aggressively attracts the costumers. Objectives are to maximize the prot/revenue, pricing strategy and economic order level for such a stock dependent and price sensitive items. We are giving numerical example and simulation to illustrate the proposed model.

One of the classical models for inventory control is economic production quantity (EPQ), which is widely used in industry. In this paper, an EPQ model with partial shortage is developed by considering the real world conditions, and costs related to the backorder demand are taken as fixed and time-dependent. In the proposed model, determination of the inventory cycle length, the length of positive inventory cycle and backordered demand rate are considered in shortage period. The aim of the presented research is to minimize the total inventory costs and the space required for storage products so that the stochastic and classic constraints including holding costs, lost sales, backorder, budget, total number of productions and average shortage times should be satisfied while optimizing the multi-objective problem. Presented model is a bi-objective nonlinear programming model. Then, to solve the proposed model, three multi-objective decision-making methods including Lp-metric, goal programming and goal attainment are used. Besides, numerical examples are executed in small, medium and large scales by use of GAMS software, and the performance of the methods is compared in terms of objective functions and required CPU time. Finally, sensitivity analysis is done to determine the effect of change in the main parameters of the model on the objective function value.

Viral marketing has become a conduit for today's organizations and an important pillar for managing the organization and a source that enhances its competitiveness and creates new opportunities for organizations through which they are trying to achieve competitive advantages to obtain new market shares. So, this study provides insight into how social network influence on purchasing decision through viral marketing and knowledge sharing on social networking sites (SNSs). By using the sample from 650 Egyptian college students - who spend more time on SNSs, this study investigates the relationship among the use of SNSs, users' social relationships, online word-of-mouth, and knowledge sharing. Therefore, this paper is working on the study of the impact of viral marketing through social networks on consumer buying decisions, and working on the development of a proposed model to measure this effect.
