Finite-time synchronization of chaotic systems with different dimension and secure communication is investigated. It is rigorously proven that global finite-time synchronization can be achieved between three-dimension Lorenz chaotic system and four-dimension Lorenz hyperchaotic system which have certain parameters or uncertain parameters. The electronic circuits of finite-time synchronization using Multisim 12 are designed to verify our conclusion. And the application to the secure communications is also analyzed and discussed.

This paper presents finite-time chaos synchronization of time-delay chaotic systems with uncertain parameters. According to the proposed method, a lot of coupled items can be treated as zero items. Thus, the whole system can be simplified greatly. Based on robust chaotic synchronization, secure communication can be realized with a wide range of parameter disturbance and time-delay. Numerical simulations are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A definition of finite time synchronization of chaotic system was proposed, and a special theorem was proposed to solve the difficult problem of constructing a finite time stable system. After that, a hybrid construction method was proposed by integrating a common stable system and a finite time stable system. That reveals how to construct a finite time stable system, and it is very useful in secure communication since the convergence time is a very important factor that will affect its application in engineering realization. Above theorem and method was applied in the chaotic synchronization and two kinds of synchronization methods were proposed with estimation of unknown parameters. At last, a secure communication scheme was constructed by using above finite time synchronous method of chaotic systems. Also, numerical simulation was done, and the rightness of all the above proposed theorems and methods was shown.

The finite-time synchronization for the high-dimensional chaotic system is studied. A method is derived from the finite-time stability theory and adaptive control technique. To show the wider applicability of our method, an illustration is given using four-dimensional (4D) hyperchaotic systems. Numerical simulations are also used to verify the effectiveness of the technique. Then, the synchronization is applied to secure communication through chaos masking. Simulation results show that the two high-dimensional chaotic systems can realize monotonous synchronization, and the information signal, which is masked, can be recovered undistortedly.
