Endometriosis is defined as the presence of endometrial glands and stroma outside the uterus. It affects 3 to 10 percent of women of reproductive age. Umbilical endometriosis is rare, with an estimated incidence of 0.5–1.0% among all cases of endometriosis, and is usually secondary to prior laparoscopic surgery involving the umbilicus. In this report, we described a case of umbilical endometriosis treated with surgical resection and highlight the great importance of medical history compared to complementary diagnostic tests that can be sometimes inconclusive.

Therapy with bisphosphonates (BP) is recognized to be "the golden standard" for the treatment of osteoporosis of different etiology. However, the data on the use of BP by the women during pregnancy and lactation are scarce. This paper reports a case of gestation, labour, and lactation in a patient treated with ibandronic acid (Bonviva) for severe steroid-induced osteoporosis attributable to Cushing's disease. To our knowledge, the application of ibandronic acid during pregnancy has never been described in the literature before. The present study has demonstrated that therapy with ibandronic acid does not necessarily require the interruption of pregnancy or cessation of birth feeding. Nevertheless, the treatment of the women of reproductive age with BP can be prescribed only upon strict indications.

Endometriosis is defined as the presence of endometrial glands and stroma outside the uterus. It affects 7-10% of women of reproductive age. Most commonly, the condition affects pelvic organs, however, 12% are encountered at extragenital sites, such as lungs, diaphragm, or umbilicus. Authors present the case of a 32 year old patient presenting with secondary umbilical endometriosis, after a recent surgical procedure. Manifesting umbilical mass, pain and catamenial bleeding from the umbilicus.

Choriocarcinoma is a malignant tumor that typically appears in gonadal organs and primarily occurs in women of reproductive age. Being a primary extragonadal choriocarcinoma, primary pulmonary choriocarcinoma (PPC) is an extremely rare condition. Due to the rarity of PPC, no standardized treatment has been established so far. However, surgery combined with adjuvant chemotherapy appears to be the most optimal treatment. Here, we report a rare case of a man with PPC that was successfully treated with surgery followed by chemotherapy.

AbstractEndometriosis affects 7 to 10% of women of reproductive age. Primary umbilical endometriosis (PUE) is even rarer with unclear pathogenesis. We report a case of PUE possibly the youngest patient reported in the literature.A 16-year-old girl of African origin presented with painful umbilical lump for 2 to 3 months duration with background history of precocious puberty, cyclical vomiting, and menorrhagia. Clinical examination showed dark-colored, tender, irreducible umbilical lump. A provisional diagnosis of incarcerated umbilical hernia was made. Abdominal X-ray showed no features of intestinal obstruction. Ultrasound scan of the abdomen showed lump containing heterogeneous echogenic material measuring 2.0 × 1.5cm within the umbilicus with no visible bowel loops or peristalsis. This was reported as consistent with an umbilical hernia with narrow neck possibly containing mesentery or intra-abdominal fat. The patient underwent urgent exploration of umbilicus under general anesthetic. At operation, a dark-colored, firm mass was excised and sent for histology. The underlying fascia and peritoneum were repaired.Histological examination confirmed the excised tissue was endometriosis. Follow-up continues in the endometriosis clinic.Umbilical endometriosis should be considered in differential diagnoses of painful umbilical lesion in adolescent girls and women of reproductive age. Complete excision and histology are highly recommended for obtaining a definitive diagnosis, to exclude malignancy and to prevent recurrence.

Recurrent lower urinary tract infections are common among women. One of the important factors of their genesis is sexual activity: there is a positive correlation between sexual intercourse frequency and recurrences of lower urinary tract infections. Post coital cystitis accounts for 30–40% of all chronic recurrent cystitis and occurs in about 25–30% of women of reproductive age. One of the methods for the prevention of post coital cystitis is the use of D-mannose, the effectiveness of which was demonstrated with a clinical example.

Endometriosis is a common disorder in women of reproductive age but is rarely observed in abdominal scar after caesarean section. The authors report a case of 35-year-old woman referred for a painful lump at caesarean scar. Preoperative diagnosis of caesarean scar endometriosis was made on the basis of clinical examination and radiological imaging and confirmed histologically after large surgical excision of the mass. Increasing awareness of this rare entity among clinicians can help in early diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
