Pulmonary carcinosarcoma represents a category of extremely rare tumours accounting for 0.1% of all lung malignancies. It is defined as a poorly differentiated non-small-cell carcinoma that contains a component of sarcoma or sarcoma-like elements. These biphasic tumours typically have a poor prognosis due to late diagnosis and early metastases. Preoperative tissue diagnosis is usually difficult due to the heterogeneity of the tumour, with biopsies often just reflecting one element of the tumour. By means of a case illustration and review of the literature, we discuss the optimal management of patients with pulmonary carcinosarcoma.

Ovarian small cell carcinoma is a rare and highly malignant neoplasm carrying a poor prognosis. Although combination chemotherapy remains the cornerstone of treatment due to the rarity of these tumors, no regimen can be recommended as standard of care although in the majority of cases platinum-based regimens are used. Herein, we report two cases of small cell carcinoma of the ovaries along with a review of the relevant literature.

Primary small cell carcinoma (SCC) of the pancreas is a rare disease with poor prognosis. Very few cases have been reported in the literature. It is a type of poorly differentiated variety of neuroendocrine tumours of the pancreas with specific immunohistochemical markers. Imaging is not diagnostic for disease, and diagnosis is mainly by biopsy. We report a rare case of SCC of the pancreas who presented with features of obstructive jaundice without any paraneoplastic features. The patient is planned for palliative chemotherapy because of metastasis and is under regular follow-up.

Ovarian small cell carcinoma is a rare tumor associated with poor prognosis. Although combination chemotherapy remains the cornerstone of treatment due to the rarity of these tumors, there is no evidencebased consensus for a standard treatment, although in the majority of cases platinum-based regimens are used. A case of small cell carcinoma of the ovary, hypercalcemic-type (SCCOHT), in a 22 year-old patient is reported.

Small cell carcinoma of the cervix is a rare malignant tumor in the clinical setting. Clinical manifestations of this tumor are mostly similar to those of normal types of cervical cancer. Small cell carcinoma of the cervix only shows symptoms of neuroendocrine tumors, such as syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH). Most of the hyponatremia caused by SIADH can be managed after removal of the cause. Hyponatremia is a predictor of poor prognosis and can be used as an indicator of partial recurrence. We report a case of small cell carcinoma of the cervix complicated by SIADH. Our patient presented with irregular vaginal bleeding after menopause. After one cycle of chemotherapy, there was trembling of the limbs, and a laboratory examination showed low Na+ and low Cl− levels. After limited water intake, intravenous hypertonic saline, and intermittent diuretic treatment, the patient’s blood Na+ levels returned to normal. After a radical operation, the above-mentioned symptoms disappeared.
