We associate some (old) convergent series related to definite integrals with the cyclotomic equationxm-1=0, for several natural numbersm; for example, form=3,x3-1=(x-1)(1+x+x2)leads to∫01dx(1/(1+x+x2))=π/(33)=(1-1/2)+(1/4-1/5)+(1/7-1/8)+⋯. In some cases, we express the results in terms of the Dirichlet characters. Generalizations for arbitrarymare well defined but do imply integrals and/or series summations rather involved.

In this paper, Homotopy analysis method is applied to the nonlinear coupleddifferential equations of classical Boussinesq system. We have applied Homotopy analysis method (HAM) for the application problems in [1, 2, 3, 4]. We have also plotted Domb-Sykes plot for the region of convergence. We have applied Pade for the HAM series to identify the singularity and reflect it in the graph. The HAM is a analytical technique which is used to solve non-linear problems to generate a convergent series. HAM gives complete freedom to choose the initial approximation of the solution, it is the auxiliary parameter h which gives us a convenient way to guarantee the convergence of homotopy series solution. It seems that moreartificial degrees of freedom implies larger possibility to gain better approximations by HAM.

Abstract In the paper we present the selected properties of composition relation of the convergent and divergent permutations connected with commutation. We note that a permutation on ℕ is called the convergent permutation if for each convergent series ∑an of real terms, the p-rearranged series ∑ap(n) is also convergent. All the other permutations on ℕ are called the divergent permutations. We have proven, among others, that, for many permutations p on ℕ, the family of divergent permutations q on ℕ commuting with p possesses cardinality of the continuum. For example, the permutations p on ℕ having finite order possess this property. On the other hand, an example of a convergent permutation which commutes only with some convergent permutations is also presented.

This chapter considers Plantinga’s argument from numbers for the existence of God. Plantinga sees divine psychologism as having advantages over both human psychologism and Platonism. The chapter begins with Plantinga’s description of the argument, including the relation of numbers to any divine attribute. It then argues that human psychologism can be ruled out completely. However, what rules it out might rule out divine psychologism too. It also argues that the main problem with Platonism might also be a problem with divine psychologism. However, it will, at the least, be less of a problem. In any case, there are alternative, possibly viable views about the nature of numbers that have not been touched by Plantinga’s argument. In addition, the chapter touches on the argument from properties, and its relation to the argument from numbers.

How are the natural numbers individuated? That is, what is our most basic way of singling out a natural number for reference in language or in thought? According to Frege and many of his followers, the natural numbers are cardinal numbers, individuated by the cardinalities of the collections that they number. Another answer regards the natural numbers as ordinal numbers, individuated by their positions in the natural number sequence. Some reasons to favor the second answer are presented. This answer is therefore developed in more detail, involving a form of abstraction on numerals. Based on this answer, a justification for the axioms of Dedekind–Peano arithmetic is developed.
