This paper investigates the fault detection problem for discrete-time nonlinear impulsive switched systems. Attention is focused on designing the fault detection filters to guarantee the robust performance and the detection performance. Based on these performances, sufficient conditions for the existence of filters are given in the framework of linear matrix inequality; furthermore, the filter gains are characterized by a convex optimization problem. The presented technique is validated by an example. Simulation results indicate that the proposed method can effectively detect the faults.

Abstract This paper considers the nonfragile observer-based guaranteed cost finite-time control of discrete-time positive impulsive switched systems(DPISS). Firstly, the positive observer and nonfragile positive observer are designed to estimate the actual state of the underlying systems, respectively. Secondly, by using the average dwell time(ADT) approach and multiple linear co-positive Lyapunov function (MLCLF), two guaranteed cost finite-time controller are designed and sufficient conditions are obtained to guarantee the corresponding closed-loop systems are guaranteed cost finite-time stability(GCFTS). Such conditions can be solved by linear programming. Finally, a numerical example is provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper is concerned with the network-based fault detection problem for a class of nonlinear discrete-time networked control systems with multiple communication delays and bounded disturbances. First, a sliding mode based nonlinear discrete observer is proposed. Then the sufficient conditions of sliding motion asymptotical stability are derived by means of the linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach on a designed surface. Then a discrete-time sliding-mode fault observer is designed that is capable of guaranteeing the discrete-time sliding-mode reaching condition of the specified sliding surface. Finally, an illustrative example is provided to show the usefulness and effectiveness of the proposed design method.

This paper is concerned with the fault detection issue for a class of discrete-time switched systems via the data-driven approach. For the fault detection of switched systems, it is inevitable to consider the mode matching problem between the activated subsystem and the executed residual generator since the mode mismatching may cause a false fault alarm in all probability. Frequently, studies assume that the switching laws are available to the residual generator, by which the residual generator keeps the same mode as the system plant and then the mode mismatching is excluded. However, this assumption is conservative and impractical because many switching laws are hard to acquire in practical applications. This work focuses on the case of switched systems with unavailable switching laws. In view of the unavailability of switching information, the mode recognition is considered for the fault detection process and meanwhile, sufficient conditions are presented for the mode distinguishability. Moreover, a novel decision logic for the fault detection is proposed, based on which new algorithms are established for the data-driven realization. Finally, a benchmark case on a three-tank system is used to illustrate the feasibility and usefulness of the obtained results.

This paper considers the guaranteed cost finite-time boundedness of discrete-time positive impulsive switched systems. Firstly, the definition of guaranteed cost finite-time boundedness is introduced. By using the multiple linear copositive Lyapunov function (MLCLF) and average dwell time (ADT) approach, a state feedback controller is designed and sufficient conditions are obtained to guarantee that the corresponding closed-loop system is guaranteed cost finite-time boundedness (GCFTB). The generalized H2 filtering problem is investigated for linear discrete-time switched systems with multiple time-varying delays. By constructing the piecewise Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals, employing Jensen inequality and slack variables, the delay-dependent sufficient conditions are derived for the filter-error system to be stable with a H2 performance. Based on the established results, the filter design method is presented in terms of the linear matrix inequalities (LMI). The design procedure is brief and easy to compute. The optimal filter can be solved with LMI toolbox of MATLAB directly. Finally, the simulation results illustrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method.

This paper presents a new approach of actuator fault estimation (FE) for discrete-time switched systems against unknown disturbance. The proposed FE approach uses a new switching observer methodology, which allows to obtain fast and exact fault information. Sufficient conditions are achieved by using multiple Lyapunov functional. These conditions are manipulated in a simple way in order to obtain a new linear matrix inequality (LMI) with slack variables and observer gains matrices. Finally, two illustrative examples are performed to prove the effectiveness of the proposed method.

We consider the problem of robust simultaneous fault and state estimation for linear uncertain discrete-time systems with unknown faults which affect both the state and the observation matrices. Using transformation of the original system, a new robust proportional integral filter (RPIF) having an error variance with an optimized guaranteed upper bound for any allowed uncertainty is proposed to improve robust estimation of unknown time-varying faults and to improve robustness against uncertainties. In this study, the minimization problem of the upper bound of the estimation error variance is formulated as a convex optimization problem subject to linear matrix inequalities (LMI) for all admissible uncertainties. The proportional and the integral gains are optimally chosen by solving the convex optimization problem. Simulation results are given in order to illustrate the performance of the proposed filter, in particular to solve the problem of joint fault and state estimation.

AbstractThis paper studies a class of impulsive switched systems with persistent bounded disturbance using robust attractor analysis and multiple Lyapunov functions. Some sufficient conditions for internal stability of the systems are obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMI). Based on the results, a simple approach for the design of a feedback controller is presented to achieve a desired level of disturbance attenuation. Numerical examples are also worked out to illustrate the obtained results.

This paper deals with the problem of H∞ guaranteed cost filtering for uncertain discrete-time switched systems with multiple time-varying delays. The switched system under consideration is subject to time-varying norm-bounded parameter uncertainties in all the system matrices. The aim is to design a filter, which guarantees the asymptotical stability of the error system with prescribed disturbance attenuation for all admissible uncertainties and the cost function value is not more than a specified upper bound. By resorting to a switched Lyapunov function, some delay-dependent sufficient conditions are presented in terms of linear matrix inequalities. A numerical example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.
