We represent a metal complex which has been synthesized by the simple reaction with Ni(II) chloride and pyridine (as a lignd) affording a complex having the molecular formula [NiC5H5N2Cl2], characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, electronic, infrared,1H NMR,13C NMR spectra, magnetic susceptibility, and also aid of molar conductivity measurement. Conductivity measurement reveals nonelectrolytic nature of the complex. IR and13C NMR spectra reveal the presence ofcis- andtrans-structure. On the basis of above analyses the square planarcis- andtrans-structures are proposed for the prepared complex.

The paper describes a convenient method for the preparation of 4-substituted phenyl-5-[1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1,3-dihydroisobenzofuran-5-yl]-2H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiones. The structures of the synthesized compounds are established by the results of LCMS, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and IR and elemental analyses. The mercaptotriazoles are indicated to be in thione form by 1H NMR spectra. All the synthesized compounds have been screened for antibacterial and antifungal activities. Compounds 12d and 12h exhibit encouraging results, while the remaining compounds show moderate activities. On the basis of spectral studies, formation of 2-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazoles from the isobenzofuran acyl thiosemicarbazides 11(a–h) is ruled out.

Complex of Cu(II) with bis-(3,5-dimethyl salicylidine)-ethylenediamine was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, melting point determination, conductivity measurement, magnetic and spectroscopic studies. Molecular formula of the newly prepared complex was determined as C20H22N2O2Cu and the probable geometry has been suggested as square planar. Gravimetric estimation of Cu(II) was made with bis-(3,5-dimethyl salicylidine)-ethylenediamine and the result was compared with the known method of estimation of Cu(II) iodometrically. It was found that the result of estimation with newly prepared reagent was as good as the reported result of estimation of Cu(II) iodometrically.

Schiff base diethyl 4,4-(pentane-2,4-diylidenebis(azanylylidene))benzoate (1) as a new ligand (L) was prepared by the reaction of acetylacetone with benzocaine in the ratio of 1 : 1. Two transition-metal complexes, [Ni(II)(LCl(HOEt))] (2) and [Zn(II)(LCl(HOEt))] (3), have been synthesized from metal salts with didentate Schiff base ligand (L) and characterized by elemental analyses, FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR UV-Vis spectroscopy, and magnetic susceptibility. The biological activity of the complexes was studied. In addition, the M06-2x density function theory method and the 6-31G(d) basic set were applied to determine the optimized structures of 1–3 and to determine their IR and 1H NMR, 13C NMR spectra theoretically. The data are in good agreement with the experimental results. The geometries of complexes 2 and 3 were determined to be square-planar for 2 and tetrahedral for 3.

It was found that three crystalline forms of ethylene glycol dibenzoate can be prepared. Infrared and Raman spectra of these three forms, as well as of the glassy and liquid states, were measured. From 3JHH coupling constants obtained by analysis of the 13C satellite band of the -CH2- group in 1H NMR spectra, and from the 3JCH coupling constants of the -CO.O.CH2- fragment obtained by analysis of the carbonyl band in 13C NMR spectra it was found that in the liquid state the -CH2-CH2- group exists predominantly in the gauche conformational structure, and the bonds C-O-C-C assume predominantly a trans orientation. The results of the analysis of NMR and vibrational spectra were used for the structural interpretation of conformationally sensitive bands in vibrational spectra of ethylene glycol dibenzoate.

A series of derivatives with various oxygen functionalities in positions 17,22a or 19,20 was prepared from diene I and olefin XVI by addition and oxidation reactions. The structure of the obtained compounds was confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and IR spectroscopy. The kind of intramolecular association of the 17α-hydroxy group was studied in connection with modification of the side chain and substitution in position 22a. Complete assignment of the hydrogen signals and most of the coupling constants was accomplished using a combination of 1D and 2D NMR techniques. The 1H and 13C NMR spectra are discussed.

The synthesis of trans-1.2-cyclohexanedioxydiacetamides starting with trans-1.2-cyclohexane-diol is described. Eleven of these compounds are characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectroscopy as well as elemental analyses. Most of these compounds are suitable ionophors for the cations K+ and Ca2+. The coordination sites of these ligands in the 1:2 complexes were determined by IR and NMR spectroscopy

A series of novel alkyl or aryiimidovanadium(IV) 5,10,15,20-tetra(p-tolyl)porphyrinates, VNR(TTP) (4a-4g), is described. They are obtained from the vanadyl complex, VO(TTP) (2a) via the reactive intermediate VCl2(TTP) (3b) which undergoes aminolysis with the respective primary amines RNH2 (R = tBu, Ph, pTol, pClPh, pAnis, pBiph, ptBuPh)**. The formulae are proved by elemental analyses and mass spectra. The paramagnetic complexes are stable to water and may thus be purified by chromatography but are hydrolyzed to give 2 a on treatment with acetic acid. The UV/VIS and 1H NMR spectra of 4a-4g are of the same type as 2a, but the former are slightly hypsochromically shifted, and the latter do not show the proton resonances of the organylimide ligands due to the proximity of the paramagnetic metal center.
