This work presents the structural, morphological, and luminescent characterization of pure SrTiO3and SrTiO3:Eu3+powders doped with different europium atomic concentrations from 3.0 to 7.0 a.t.%. Those phosphors were prepared by pressure-assisted combustion synthesis using titanium oxide as precursor and were subjected to postannealing at 1200°C. XRD measurements indicated that undoped and Eu3+doped samples presented a single cubic crystalline phase and SEM images demonstrated that we have particles with sizes in the range of 0.2 µm–1.0 µm. Moreover, the size of the grains increases as the content of Eu3+dopant increases. A strong red emission from Eu3+ions was obtained by photoluminescence under excitation at 396 nm and confirmed by cathodoluminescence. All those results indicate that our red phosphors could be useful for potential applications in solid state lighting and field emission displays.

This article reports on the synthesis procedure of ZnO nanoparticles/nanofibers structure by electrospinning method using Zinc acetate and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) surfactant as reagents and evaluates their luminescent properties. The microstructure of ZnO nanoparticles/nanofibers was observed by FE-SEM. The phase formation of ZnO nanoparticles/nanofibers was studied by XRD. ZnO nanoparticles/nanofibers structure shows strong luminescence centering at 660 nm, which has potential applications in solid-state lighting.

The CaMoO4:Eu3+, Li+ red phosphors were synthesized by combustion synthesis with urea or urea-thiourea as fuels, and their crystalline phase, morphology and luminescent properties were investigated. The XRD results demonstrated that all the diffraction peaks of the products can be well indexed to the pure tetragonal phase of CaMoO4. The SEM photographs showed that the particles of sample using urea as fuel are agglomeration, while the particles of sample using urea-thiourea mixture fuels are non-agglomeration. The powder can be effectively excited by ultraviolet with wavelength of 395 nm, and exhibits a strong red emission with maximum wavelength at 615 nm. The luminescent intensity of the phosphor with mixture fuels had 2.2 times stronger than that of the phosphor with single fuel, and its chromaticity coordinates (0.65, 0.35) was closer to NTSC standard values (0.67, 0.33).

This paper reports a tunable luminescence of europium (Eu 3+) doped zirconia (ZrO2) nanoparticles as a function of hydrothermal temperature, europium concentrations, time and pH value. The nano-sized Eu doped ZrO2 (Eu:ZrO2) particle was synthesized by hydrothermal method at the temperature of 200 °C and time up to 48 h. The nano-sized Eu:ZrO2 particles have a diameter of about 10 nm. The luminescent properties of nano-sized Eu:ZrO2 particle was enhanced in the sample when high temperature, high Eu 3+ concentration and prolonging hydrothermal time were used at pH 7. These results suggest the use of Eu:ZrO2 nanoparticles followed by thermal annealing in tuning the luminescence of Eu:ZrO2 nanoparticles which have potential applications as phosphors in solid state lighting.

Na2BaMgP2O8phosphors were synthesized by a standard solid state reaction and their luminescent properties were investigated. The phase structure was analyzed by X-ray powder diffraction measurement. Under the excitation of 365nm, Na2BaMgP2O8:Tb3+, Eu3+phosphors show two color bands of green and red color due to5D4−7F5transition of Tb3+ions and5D0−7F2transition of Eu3+ions, respectively. The emission intensity of Tb3+deceased with the increasing concentration of Eu3+, which verified that an effective energy transfer occurred from Tb3+to Eu3+in Na2BaMgP2O8host. The present study indicated that the phosphors have a high potential application in solid state lighting.
